And how does Marvel justify those prices for ASM reprints??? 4 bucks for a 2nd printing? I'd love to hear the spin job Brevoort puts on this.....

Second printings are generally the same price as the original prints...

BOOSTER GOLD #45
ANNIHILATORS #4

Ridiculous. For most of the past 6 weeks in a row I have gotten no less than 5-7 comics from Marvel alone, and usually it has been closer to 8-10 for about 3-4 of those weeks. Yet there always is that week in the middle in which the schedule shifts to famine and I'll have a week like this, where I only get 2 books.

Marvel needs to figure out a schedule in which the tallies are more balanced each week, instead of 50 things one week and 15 the next. That's pure madness, a sign of the inmates running the asylum.

Anyway, since I need at least 3-4 comics for online review purposes, this actually favors trying some new things. I'll likely take a stab at:

FEAR ITSELF: FEARSOME FOUR #1
MYSTERY MEN #1

The latter is interesting; Bob Burden, the creator of FLAMING CARROT, has actually trademarked the name "MYSTERYMEN" for his own line of comics, which itself became a film by Universal in 1999. Now, if Burden wanted to enforce his copyright and try to sue Marvel for infringing it, Marvel would likely argue, "Our title is not the same; Burden's is 'MYSTERYMEN', one word, while ours has a space in the middle." And technically, they'd be right. However, if that argument flew, then Marvel will have opened the floodgates for every fly by night comic creator to infringe on their own copyrights with ridiculous technicalities such as saying, "No, I am selling a comic called X_MEN, you can't sue me," or "No, mine is Spyderman, one word, different spelling" and Marvel would be obliged to concede the lawsuit. At least in a fair world where judges couldn't be bought or influenced by high priced lawyers. Either Marvel are confident Burden won't sue, especially since he hasn't published a FLAMING CARROT comic since about 2007, confident they would win such a suit (and thus not caring about spending legal fees), or it simply didn't cross their minds. Marvel once got into hot water over infringements before, losing out to the title "CHAMPIONS" to Hero Games, which released a tabletop RPG as well as a comic series tying into it since the 1970's, the last time Marvel used that title. They sought to use it again in recent times, and lost because Hero Games had since copyrighted it. And this was before Disney bought 'em. Naturally, a MMORPG version of the game, CHAMPIONS ONLINE, has been live since 2009.

Marvel also did not know you couldn't use music on YouTube without the consent of the record label and artist(s). Thus, they were forced to take down a trailer for "WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN" after failing to get permission from the Foo Fighters for use of a song. Remember things like this the next time some high up Marvel executive gives an "I am smarter than you" speech online.

Just heard the news today that in September, all DC comics will restart at #1. ALL OF THEM?? It makes Marvel's .1 seem a little better, and DC just that much more desperate for readers. DC needs to get better writing on their books, not these gimmicks.

It is true, but it's more than that. It seems like it's going to be a psuedo-reboot of the DCU.

DC COMICS
BIRDS OF PREY #13 $2.99 (The Question's been cool in this arc so far.)
RED ROBIN #24 $2.99

IDW PUBLISHING
DOCTOR WHO FAIRYTALE LIFE #3 (OF 4) $3.99

IMAGE COMICS
GOLLY TP VOL 01 CATCHING HELL (RES) (MR) $17.99 (This series was pretty fun. Maybe buying the trade will encourage Image or Phil Hester or someone to put out more.)

MARVEL COMICS
15 LOVE #1 (OF 3) $4.99 (Haha, tennis comic. I'm not buying it, but kudos to Marvel for trying something new. :D)
ANNIHILATORS #4 (OF 4) $4.99
JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #624 FEAR $2.99

They should've totally called the new Ghost Rider series Lady Ghost Rider. Missed opportunity there. :csad:

Anyway, wow. Only 5 new comics. Either I am getting remarkably good at saving money or I'm just losing interest in a lot of comics.

Shyeah. 'Cause everyone knows the best way to stir up interest in a character is to cast the actual character aside and replace 'em with a gender-swapped version! :awesome:

It is true, but it's more than that. It seems like it's going to be a psuedo-reboot of the DCU.

Yep, I picked up the article in USA Today. Definitely worth checking that newpaper out. Since they are making the DCU more accessable to new readers, they are making many of their heroes younger. I'd only guess that means all current storylines are going to be ditched, and the past is more forgotten than Spidey's marriage to MJ. (Heck, we knew they would disband Batman, Inc. soon enough...but, not THIS quickly! Of course, with 52 #1 issues slated to come out, maybe they still will make it happen.)

I'm interested and will buy all the issues; but, I don't think this speaks highly of DC's regard to their history.

Well, actually, that's part of the psuedo in the psuedo-reboot. They haven't said a lot of details, but it seems some stuff will still be staying, like Johns' GL and, mostly likely, Morrison's Batman, Inc. That seems to be the impression I'm getting anyway.

I very much doubt they're going to sweep Morrison's Bat-epic under the rug. That's probably one of the few non-Johns works that's gonna be safe.

BATMAN AND ROBIN #24 $2.99
ANNIHILATORS #4 (OF 4) $4.99
NEW AVENGERS #13 $3.99
WOLVERINE #10 $3.99
X-MEN LEGACY #250 $4.99

Maybe
BATMAN ARKHAM CITY #2 (OF 5) $2.99
FLASHPOINT CITIZEN COLD #1 (OF 3) $2.99

I doubt I'll get Citizen Cold but I'll skim it. Arkham City sounds interesting and if my shop still has the first issue I may check this one out.

As for the rest... there better be something amazing in X-Men Legacy to justify a $5 price point and I'm not talking about bios or reprints. Sadly, we all know better than that. Marvel just intends to rape us with special anniversary issues as always. God I hope they go bankrupt.

Anyway, the rest is decent. It's sad that $21 is a rest for my wallet by nearly half. I'm glad to see Annihilators end. It's been an alright read but very underwhelming and I hate the $5 price. Even with both stories involved it's not been worth it.
