I just finished watching both films, and I can say without a doubt, Paul Greengrass direction is much more riveting and gut-wrenching, because it's so goddam real.

United 93 = documentary

Flight 93 = a movie

Flight 93 was utter crap. It had better cinematography than the acting itself.

I totally agree.
Flight 93 although not bad was hardly shocking at all. United is gripping from the second it starts and till the second it ends. A great movie but just hard to watch.

Okay so United is better,I'll have to remember that.

I know the utmost similarity:

They're both lies that are attempts to distract people from the reality of what actually happened.

If you can see it Discovery Channel has their docu-drama, The Flight That Fought Back which came out last year, that is still worth watching. Kiefer Sutherland narrates and brakes down events by time, introduces people of significance on the flight and those that knew the crew/passengers/terrorists/saw the plane crash, it contains actual recordings from the black box and phone conversations, and family members telling more about what was heard on the black box. After the docu-drama ends family members are interviewed by Tom Brokaw.

I wonder if it's for sale on line at the Discovery Store

THere are too many movies about planes nowadays..reason I don't like flying...And it's always about something bad happening to the plane..why couldn't we have like a love story on an airplane? Should I be working for fox or what?

I love to fly,but this Labor Day weekend I flew during Ernesto and there was so much bounce around during take off and for at least a 1/2 hour after that I was very nervous.
My return flight I had 4 arabic guys sitting in front of me. I'm sure that didn't help ease anyones nerves.
Folks are so uptight I'm afraid to reach down and scartch my leg for fear a Marshall will draw his weapon on me. :csad:

"I think all of us have a sense if we imagine the kind of world we would face if the people who bombed the mess hall in Mosul, or the people who did the bombing in Spain, or the people who attacked the United States in New York, shot down the plane over Pennsylvania and attacked the Pentagon, the people who cut off peoples' heads on television to intimidate, to frighten – indeed the word 'terrorized' is just that. Its purpose is to terrorize, to alter behavior, to make people be something other than that which they want to be."

Flight 93-Made for TV movie

United 93-Big Hollywood picture.

I wonder why they had such a difference in quality?

Say Flight 93 was shot down. Why cover it up? The American people may not like it, but they would accept it since it would prevent more death and destruction.

Because it's easier to create patriotism and nationalism with a story about great heroes banding together to fight off the enemy and dying in the name of saving others.

Or cause the next pearl harbor so people become like blind sheep to any cause.

Never seen Loose Change. That's a real, direct quote from Donald Rumsfeld.

Yup, the ones who are still trying to figure out what happened to their families...

Caller: "Mom? This is Mark Bingham."

Caller: "I want you to know that I love you. I'm on a flight from Newark to San Francisco and there are three guys who have taken over the plane and they say they have a bomb."

Alice: "Who are these guys?

Caller: (after a pause) "You believe me, don't you?

Caller: "Yes, Mark. I believe you. But who are these guys?

(After another pause the line went dead.)

When's the last time you used your full name when calling your own mother?

I believe in the Flight That Fought Back, his mother mentions that Mark would use his full name when talking with his mom.

Unless the American Govt, discovered who was on the flight, recorded enough of them talking so they could create his voice and then call his mother the day off.
