Greg Berlanti. According to IESB

yesterday was quite a whirlwind. For what seems like many moons we didn't hear a peep from the brothers warner. After years of leaks so big they could have sunk the titanic they somehow came up with a formula to keep things quiet in burbank. For a short while at least. After fans were treated with the news a couple weeks ago that christopher nolan was going to guide a new superman film to theaters, yesterday it was revealed that both david goyer and jonah nolan are lined up to write the script. While we're here, why not throw a couple more logs on the already crackling fire? Iesb has learned exclusively that wb is lining up a director for another high profile dc character; greg berlanti is the leading contender to helm "the flash". The name should ring a bell or two, berlanti wrote "green lantern" with one my favorites marc guggenheim and was once attached to direct the film before wb settled on martin campbell. From what iesb is hearing wb is very high on berlanti from his prep on "green lantern" and would love him to run with "the flash". If you remember, two weeks to this day, iesb reported that we would be hearing some news on "the flash". Here we are delivering on that promise.
Dc entertainment is surely on fire. Nelson and company are hitting the ground running, pun intended. The nolan bros. And david goyer getting their hands all over the caped crusader and the man of steel sounds about right."green lantern" moving forward under the watchful and capable eye of martin campbell and possibly now greg berlanti dashing into the fray with "the flash".
We at iesb will let the fans enjoy this almost unthinkable news, but alas, our jobs are never done. We've already started making calls and shooting off emails to uncover the next scoop. Stay tuned.
sweet!!!

Considering how much they liked the green lantern stuff I think this could be good. It's still a wait and see, but I think Berlanti has it in him.

Yeah same. This is friggin' exciting news. WB's really gettin their **** together

i think it's WB way of giving back to Berlanti since he was going to direct Green Lantern but was replaced by Martin Campbell.

Great Zeus, WB seems to finally be making inroads to tapping into that vast potential. Keep it coming.

Isn't this the guy they kicked off of directing Green Lantern?

This doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence...

Interesting. He obviously was heavily involved with GL and now he will be with Flash. And then we have those that brought Batman back to the screen involved with Superman now.

now who should be The Flash?

Ryan Reynolds!

In all seriousness, if he doesn't get Captain America then Scott Porter. Or maybe he's just destined to try out for every superhero role and never actually land one.

Wow, hold on now boys. This still means nothing.

Remember. DC announces movies all the time with directors and nothing comes of it. Until we see a photo of a set. Then this all means nothing.

For all we know this could be like The Flash directed by David Goyer...
or The Flash directed by David Dobkin...
or The Flash directed by Shawn Levy...

Has my point been made yet?

The WB has sprung more leaks than the Titantic.

Are they about to start doubling their supehero tentpole releases?

I'm thinking that the WB is looking at the guys who are competiting for the Capt America role..

now who should be The Flash?

I think it depends on which incarnation they go with, but if it's Wally my vote is still for Neil Patrick Harris.

If it's Barry then I think it should be someone with a little more gravitas. Not that Harris couldn't do that, but Barry just has a more serious tone in my opinion.

Ryan Gosling would'nt be a bad flash

but, people get stuck on that. Green Lantern is preproduction so you can't paint it all in one broad stroke.

yeah, WB was slow as hell to greenlight the DC movies in the past.

But DC Entertainment was NOT created for laughs, nor getting the likes of Jim Lee and Geoff Johns on board as execs. Nor the fact that Marvel Studio is dominating Hollywood.

There are different factors now. Different people running this ship.

I think that Neil Patrick Harris would be a better Barry.

Barry, to me, isn't that more serious but just a whole lot smarter than Wally.

In the humor department, I think of Michael C. Hall or Paul Rudd types with Barry, and Ryan Reynolds types with Wally.

Maybe that's what it is. Barry is more calculating and logical perhaps.

So what about villians?
I say they use three of the rogues. After them be beaten indivually then team-up at the end for a big showdown.

And Introduce the guy wiil be Zoom in the first movie, injured in the second, big bad in the third.

Whats this I hear about the losers of the race for the role of Captain America being up for The Flash?

They are two completely different characters!

Come on, DC. Screw your head on straight. You're casting for The Flash, not Captain America.

And why would we want someone who wasn't good enough for Captain America anyway? We don't need Marvel's leftovers.

Yeah, I can see Barry being funny in a more awkward way but has down to earth sense of humor (ala Paul Rudd) or even Jim from the Office.

speaking of which Mr. Potential Captain America himself, John Krasinski, could be a good Barry if he doesn't get CA.
