I'm surprised no one made this thread yet.

A few that I noticed:
  • Of course Avengers Tower makes several appearance
  • In the car Strange turns down a patient with a spinal injury after being in an experiment exosuit (seems like Rhodes and a direct nod to Civil War)
  • Bordo calls his weapon the "Staff of the Living Tribunal"
  • Of course Thor in the mid credits scene.
  • Seems like Dormammu's dimension is where the dark matter from Agent Carter is from.

I feel like the Sanctum must have a ton that I overlooked.

Derrickson confirmed it was not Rhodes

Strange mentions Bleeding edge technology.

Nico Minoru's staff was a pretty obvious one.

Strange wearing the yellow gloves during the mid-credits sequence.

Interestingly enough the dialogue about Rhodey was different for the IMAX version. I wonder if it was an honest mistake, or a way to hide the fact that it was meant as a reference to Rhodey.

Nicodemus West who is from the original comics had a minor role in the film. Like the comics, he was a medical colleague, but he actually had a more involved role in Strange's origin. They changed most of that. They didn't say who worked on his hands, but in the comics, it was West who was able to save Strange's hands but unable to prevent the nerve damage.

Technically, he didn't appear at all in Strange's origin, he was retconned into the origin during The Oath.

Guardian of the New York Sanctum was Daniel Drumm.

I bet he was referring to that scene from Iron Man 2, during the hearing where a video is shown of one of Hammer's failed shots breaking that guy's back.

Yes, I just noticed that upon a 2nd viewing. And I've heard someone say the body-trap Strange uses on Kaecilius is the crimson bands of the Cytorrak? I just thought it was a device intended to prevent all movement since sorcerers seem to require gestures and movement in order to perform spells(he should have left the mouth-piece on). Plus they didn't look very crimson to me.

Yep, that's my guess which would put the start of his journey around 2010 in this movie.

Can't be. The Avengers tower is visible. And apparently his apartment had some award with 2016 in it.

The movie takes place in unrealistically short time, even if it ends just before Thor Ragnarok.

Which makes me wonder if we WILL somehow see Jericho on Shield. Brother Voodoo would fit more with GR than most other sorcerers

I actually think there might have been some muddling of the timeline, because there are a couple points that hint in different directions. And yes, it definitely wasn't Rhodey, the age was way wrong.

Derrickson said it takes place in 2016 into early 2017

From January 2016 to November 2017(premiere date of thor) is almost two years. That's unrealistic?

by normal time yeah if you think about the 7 procedures Strange had done that would probably take about a year minimum, then the learning and training of magic, not to mention the locating of Kamar Taj, that's squeezing alot into two years even with how Strange can study.
Granted he's still not a Sorcerer SUPREME yet, the Ancient One called him Master, which he flatly rejected

Stan Lee, anyone have a clue on the book he was reading? It felt like there was some significance there.

I don't think locating the place took long. He just went to tibet and asked around for a day or two. I don't think it was portrayed as an extensive search. Plus his studying was very incomplete he only survived by luck, cunning, and an infinity stone. Combine that with his photographic memory, high intelligence level, and studying in his sleep I could easily believe he got 5 months of training day in and day out, every day. I don't know much about medical procedures, but it's possible multiple procures were apart of one treatment thus were concurrent. her intentionally vague so I can definitely believe the timeline.

I looked it up, it was "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley. It's about what the author saw and thought while taking a hallucinogenic. Given the psychedelic style that inspired Doctor Strange artwork, seems appropriate.
