Yeah, this scene
was ultimately cut from the movie, but as I already said you can still see the same woman (which is Nico's mother, apparently, I didn't even know that) wielding the staff when all the sorcerers are gearing up to battle the Zealots.
Unless I just imagined seeing it, which wouldn't surprise me in the least.
