I couldn't find an existing thread for this but if there is one, then apologies :nrv:.

New animated series from the creator of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Two human princes forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands.

Really looking forward to this. Loving the designs.

Some of the designs look interesting, but the animation looks really choppy. Don't like that.

Looks absolutely incredible. I can’t wait!

Hoping for Korra and Last airbender animation was too much to ask, I guess.

Don't want CG or cel-shading at the cost of good animation.

Yeah, I was disappointed seeing the poster and who's behind it, but then seeing the trailer. Maybe 2D would've been better.

I was very excited when I heard about this, but the animation is just... ugh.

Maybe they just had to rush something out for SDCC? Maybe by the time comes out the animation will be a bit more smooth?

So has anybody checked this show out yet. I just watched the 1st 2 episodes and so far Im really liing it the Animation really doesn't bother me.

I loved this first season. This show has really well designed characters with complex interpersonal dynamics and is able to tell a nuanced story rooted in a really fascinating world. The art direction and score are superb. Bring on season 2.

I didn't love it. Too much goofy comedy. I was confused about what happened to the king. Story was way too vague. Clearly wants to be Avatar too much.

Not sure what was confusing about what happened to the king. The elves attacked and killed him and then Runaan was captured. That's what we know and it is clear. They didn't show the action because I'm pretty sure that Harrow isn't actually dead (my theory is he was body swapped against his will with his pet bird). It's probably gonna be a big reveal later and I can't wait. Not sure what was vague about the story either.

As for tone, I thought it was pretty great. Nothing stood out as too goofy and the humour usually helped make characters likeable. Like Claudia and Soren's comedy - their jokes are so dumb you can't help but love them.

It all takes place offscreen. They should've shown Runaan get into the throne room and the King ready to fight him before they cut away. Wasn't the best editing. The show proved that soulbands can be removed through other means. So, since we never even saw what happened, we can't reliably assume Harrow is gone for good.

I didn't really like any of the characters. I found most of them rather obnoxious, especially the villain's two kids. And the aunt's translator who was thrown in the dungeon and was asking for fruit. Like the aunt just got done warning him that the guy was going to betray them. Is he that much of a ditz?

Also why was the animation so bad? It looked so choppy. Slugterra never has this problem and it has that CG cel-shaded style.

We definitely can't assume that. Which was the point.

I personally loved the characters. Soren and Claudia are definitely obnoxious, but I love their accidental foray into morally grey territory out of sheer inability to think critically. Plus, I really love the depiction of Claudia's magic. I also appreciate the overall arcs for the main three characters while populating the world with other interesting characters I want to see more of (Amaya, Runaan, Harrow).

The low frame rates for slower scenes is noticeable at first, but I eventually got used to it. The artistic direction and character designs more than make up for the choppiness imo. I've seen that it bothers other people, though. The animation during action scenes is top notch.

I agree with everything you've said in here, so far. Watched the season with my 12yo and we both loved it.

Aside from the animations low frame rate I don't really have any real criticism's that don't fall into the category of growing pains that any show will go through in its first season, other than it was too short and I need more now, I loved it. This has the potential to become something really special going forward.

I can't really love characters doing that by accident.

I think they're a fun and unique take on the "protagonists are unknowingly being tracked by an ominous force" trope. The ominous trope in this case are two clueless siblings that might end up sabotaging each other. I think they're fun, and not even the main focus of the season.

Mad the season ends right as the story was really starting to move.

Binge-watched the first three seasons and I simply adore this show. It was a bit bland at first, but things started to improve with season 2 and especially season 3.

Can't wait for season 4 and what the time jump will bring.

Claudia is :hrt: and her story-arc is breaking my heart.

Binged this over the weekend and did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

A friend was recommending this to me.

Dammit, I saw this thread getting bumped up and I thought we were finally getting a trailer, it's been far too long.
