I heard that Iron Man ends with Nick Fury talking to Tony Stark about a plan which happesn to be the Avengers. Thus creating the first step toward an Avengers movie, which I believe the new Hulk film will take the second step. Concerning DC's movies, I believe they should do the same thing with either their current Superman or Batman franchises (Superman seems to fit more), or just wait a couple fo years THEN restart making Justice League.

I just don't see Bale wanting to do it anymore. Three Batman flicks in nine years is plenty. The legal rights to Superman are in the way after 2012. Wonder Woman is in limbo. I do think GL or Flash will make it sometime before 2011. The WB is going to have to start releasing two flicks a year like Marvel if they want to do anything like that.

While I appreciate what Marvel is doing...DC doesn't really have a SHIELD, or anything like that that ties into the league. There's no real "buildup" that needs to be done to the concept of the league. The solo films would only serve to introduce the characters before a feature did. Which may be the way to go, but the "SHIELD/Fury" angle is somewhat unique to Marvel Comics.

The Guard:

The DCU does have have its S.HI.E.L.D counterparts. There's Checkmate and the D.E.O (Department of Extranormal Operations). Mr. Bones is kinda like their Nick Fury though that position has been filled by Sarge Steel these days.

if they did that kinda thing from the start, and matched up their worlds, to work together, maybe

but, the worlds they already set up for each of them, just don't fit

they could possibility try to do it with, the rest of the characters, Wonder Woman, Flash, GL,.... in their own solo movies first to build up to a JL, (with a different Supes and Bats) or work them in to a world that fits one or the other (probably Supes) then you would only need a new Bats

but, even then, I don't see it working the same way, marvel is doing it
and it would just look like there tiring to rip off what marvel did

You know what I mean. There's no government organization that forms the Justice League, or that oversees it. Checkmate and the DEO are something else entirely.

Okay, I agree with you there.

One thing Iron-man proved to me is that you don't have to Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man to be successful. Iron-Man isn't a " household" name but could be now.
So, I could see The Flash and Green Lantern, etc., be successful with the right directors and script.

Personally I like it that way since it separates it from the Marvel way. I like how Marvel is going the Ultimate route (even though I tend to hate Ultimate Marvel comics) by having the Avengers be a federal government program and drafting Iron Man, Captain America and others.

I'd rather have the Justice League form by a common threat that is too big to handle for just Superman and Wonder Woman and have the Avengers form by the US government like what appears to be happening.

Iron Man really should be the kick in the pants WB needs to move forward with other DC character. Lets be honest, Iron Man is really a second tier hero in terms of public perception, you'd be lucky to find someone who knows his real name. It's not about the name or how well the character is known, it's about the film, make a good film with a good script, solid cast and good director, as producers of Iron Man have (although the script could have been a little better in some parts) and people will come.

You know, it doesn't have to be a SHIELD or whatever that connects the JLA, just let it be known they share the same universe. I remember Batman saying in a movie that "this is why Superman works alone"line and even though its nothing like the Fury in IM bit but for them to at least acknowledge each other will do wonders. If Bale would say he's heading to Metropolis to be interviewed by Lois Lane, that would be simply amazing, kind of like the Joker card at the end of BB. I don't know but just show they are connected some kind of way.

Don't forget Blade.

He was Z-list at Marvel yet the franchise was good enough to make a successful trilogy.

Actually, I think I should've made my first post clear. I didn't mean have something like SHIELD, I meant have another DCU character in a Superman or Batman movie that would lead into Justice League.

Actually, instead of Justice League, it could be World's Finest (or Batman/Superman) as well. And I realized that we did get something like that already with the Gotham reference in Superman Returns. Possibility saying that the universe SR is set in is not a Superman-only universe, but more of a DCU of itself.

He ain't a second tier hero anymore. Iron Man is A-list. He was always A-list as a character, one of the most fascinating and loved characters within comics but not the public sees it too. Now everyone will know who Tony Stark is. The one that DC can do the same with is Green Lantern.

When I said second tier in terms of public perception, I was referring to pre-film release, he may have been big in comic land, but not known in the same vein as Batman or Spiderman by the general public. Post film however is now a different story.

Having an after-credits cameo of other DC characters from other films could be interesting.

ie
You go to see TDK, you sit through it, it's awesome, etc etc... after the credits are over, you see Bruce tinkering in his cave. There's a sound, the flurry of Bats. Bruce spins around, grabs a batarang and yells in the Bat-voice. "SHOW YOURSELF!" Then, out of the shadows drifts Brandon Routh in a Superman suit. He lands softly. These two legendary figures stand, considering each other for a moment. "Batman?" Superman speaks: "I need your help." Fade to black.

As part of an overarching thing leading up to a JL movie, this has the potential to be awesome, either have Superman show up at the end of each, or pass it along as a chain (Supe shows up after credits in Batman, Batman shows up after credits in GL, etc...)

It could work...

Very very good idea GL1.

good buildup :)

Dc should take notes :cwink:

It may not be on the same level of 'coolness' that SHIELD is, but the bridge could easily be Amanda Waller as a government liason with the Bureau of Meta-Human Affairs...or something to that extent.

Not many people knew outside of comic fans who the hell Iron Man was. I'm a Marvel fan for over 20 years and didn't know at all that there was a Blade. I didn't know about Blade until I saw the movie and Blade an almost unknown kicked things off for Marvel before the X-men and Spider-man. My point is; It's all in the trailer and marketing. Everything I saw on TV and the net about Iron Man kicked ass. My wife wanted to see Iron man, real bad after seeing the promotions for it and she can't stand comic books and didn't know Iron man from the tin man from Oz.
I think they can make a kick ass special effects and action heavy Green Lantern and or Wonder woman movie and come out with really kick ass trailers and online clips. Green Lantern can do alot of freaky and cool stuff with that ring and I think they can make teasers and trailers like Iron Man that makes you go "Damn I got to see that."
Even these fan-made trailers made from that crap JLA TV pilot and other stuff looks pretty good. Can you imangine if WB cut a trailer from a real GL big budget production?

I don't think WB will make a JLA movie with Bale, Routh as Bat and Supe. It looks more likely that they will recast everyone and make a standalone movie, if it is ever made. Marvel is getting their characters back, and they are planning an Avengers movie in advance to make it happen. WB doesn't have this kind of vision to connect all the pieces together.

I could not agree more my friend!!! They need to stop nickle and diming thier franchises! If IM proved one thing is that you need "REAL" actors for these parts. Maybe just maybe WB will realize you don't need to make the JLA the OC!!! You need actors! Real Actors!! If you had a heart problem would you go to someone just out of med school because he's cheaper?! Hell NO! You would go to the very best there is! It's the same thing with your franchises!! Oh one caviet. Please make sure you choose the right actor for the right part! Not just because he is famous!....Thank you thats the end of my rant...

The purpose of the Justice League movie was to use it as a springboard for the future franchises. That's why I was up for it. Because let's face it, that was the only way to get these DC characters started on their movies. I really hope JLA comes back with a better director, story, and cast real soon. Otherwise we're dead.

Plus, I have my own pitch to DC/WB: DO NOT HAVE SUPERMAN NOR BATMAN IN THE JLA MOVIE! Have them both in their Batman/Superman, or World's Finest, movie. That way, the JLA movie does its purpose, and doesn't have to deal to the two that already have their franchsies already.

I'm right on this. always. Anyone who disagrees, well, I'AM at SHH! afterall.

Bink you make a great point
Personally, I wouldn't mind a Justice League movie without Superman and Batman. The JLA started out without them in the 60's and also in JLA Year One.
Now any of these characters could be used:

Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), The Flash (Barry Allen), Wonder Woman,Black Canary, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter. You know if supes or bats is involved the focus goes off the other heroes.

Well I'd love to see WB and DC to take notes from Marvel but alas WB doesn't seem to care about the fans.
