The FF have just saved CounterEarth from being devoured by Galactus and the Thing has cast off his power suit and become the Thing once again when a little green friend decides to come for a visit...

Uh oh, this looks like trouble...

Ahh man.... nostalgia. I remember distinctly buying that issue off a comic rack. Thanks, IM.

Thanks, O armored genius. Now back to our tale for the day...

(by the way, don't you just love the combination of George Perez and Joe Sinnott?)

Me too... I remember reading that and thinking...

They really call each other names like 'Joltin Joe Sinnott'?

That entire run ROCKED! Counter-Earth, Salem's Seven, Molecule Man... so much fun!

Though I had picked up issues here and there, this was the beginning of actually collecting the series. From the time that Ben loses his powers up to the point when Reed faces Doom in 200 will always be my favorite era of the FF - I think it truly captured all that was good about the Stan/Jack run.

It did, Joe, it did.

*tearfully* And ne'er will we see their like 'gain!

That was one of my favorite issues of the Waid/Wieringo era also...it certainly seems like there has been a bit of a dry spell lately with the title since then. I really thought Marvel should have done a bit more for the FF's 45th anniversary last year. Alan Davis' "The End" series was IMO the best tribute to the FF. Marvel did put out an official annivarsary issue with #543 and even Stan Lee contributed the story that follows in the latest edition of....

This delayed anniversary issue came out around January this year as I recall. For some reason, this rendering of the Thing sort of creeps me out on the cover (not listed on the credits page but IIRC it is Adi Granov) Not only does Stan appear in this but so does EIC Joe Quesada and and I believe Tom Brevoort may be the bearded fellow...

Got anything from Reed & Sue's wedding?

There probably would have been more comics with Jack & Stan in them, but Jack actually forbade Marvel from using his likeness without permission. He was not very happy with them at that point in his life.

Got anything from Reed & Sue's wedding?

I am going to try and synch that up when Malus gets to Annual #3 in a couple of days. I got some fill in stuff til then..

In the meantime....I interrupt this thread for a this new video that just came over the wires from the Latverian Broadcasting Network...

Just in time for Malus and his countdown to issues # 5 we have this little bonus from FF Annual #5. Remember annuals everyone? When there was actually original content, once again done by Stan and Jack? Well, now we will take a peak at the geniuses (or is it genii ??) at work brainstorming..

Keep it coming! Can't wait for "The Wedding!"

You're welcome. I have to catch up a bit but stay tuned for Jack, Stan, Flo Steinberg and Sol Brodsky as the Fantastic Four....

Get out the tux and your gown, you're formally invited to attend the social event of the year...(except if you are a certain armor wearing Monarch from Latveria or Irving Forbush)
