Horror The First Omen

Again they could have waited 2 years so we could get 6/6/26. :o

Online embargo has been very, very positive but they are most of the time.

Really hoping the early reactions are reflective of the film. No idea why they didn’t market this significantly more.

Of course my sweet little “Leanne” is amazing in this… if you haven’t seen Servant, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

Yeah, she was amazing on that show. Glad to see she’s making the jump to movies in what seems to be a good one.

There's a Possession reference? I'm going to be keeping an eye out.

I'm really hoping this and Immaculate don't share the same story beats.

Got my tickets for tomorrow and I’m very much looking forward to this.

I'm really hoping this and Immaculatedon't share the same story beats.

They inevitably will have a lot in common.

The only main difference probably being the twist.

Um yeah, this movie slapped…hard. Everything I didn’t know I wanted in a religious horror film is in this. I’m still giddy, and I’m not a big Omen fan. Gorgeously shot, very effective eerie and twisted sequences. This has no business being this great. Can’t wait to watch again.

Birthing The Hellspawn is a CONSPIRACY,Now?

Always has been.

Granted, I suppose Immaculate and First Omen don't have wannabe epic angel fights or Lucifer saying "****".

I honestly thought this missed the mark in its execution. Although it captures the more atmospheric horror elements seen in the original trilogy, the “twist” was obvious from the beginning, and the last act was laughably bad—I’ll just say cabin in the snow. I wish they emulated some of the 70s aesthetic featured in the marketing to give it a more retro look and feel. But I think I enjoyed Immaculate more, overall.

This was better than first projected. Very strong performance by Nell Tiger Free. The Sound design and Disturbing Imagery was fantastic. Thats exactly how you create a atmosphere on the big screen and something some directors can't nail for some reason. not really familiar with the Omen lore but by its own merits this is a great horror film overall. I feel it was brought down by a weak 3rd act as CloserFrame mentioned but knowing its a prequel is partly why it takes some of the sheen off in the last third.

There is a scene in this film that nearly made me gag and by the time everyone see's this then you will know what im talking about. Not really familiar with Arkasha Stevenson's work but its good to see she took some risks with this.

7.5/10

I really liked it, but throughout the whole 2 hours a couple were talking and purposefully laughing at anything scary (like middle school kids) yet they were late 30's.

I told them to **** off and other's did too and nothing worked.

Easily tainted my first watch... but I'll say it was a 4/5, for now. Pretty neck-and-neck with Immaculate. While I liked this plot more. And I think Nell out-acted Sydney.

Funny how some shots pushed the rating more than anything in Immaculate. Especially some Tyler Durden style quick inserts.

If Arkasha can pull this off within a big-studio... imagine what she could with A24 or Neon.
