The first pictures.

What do you think of the backlot?

  • Awesome! It's like the comic has come to life!!!

  • Hurm...it's okay, I'll wait til the trailer to see it in action.

  • I think it looks like garbage. I hate Zack Snyder and I wish he were dead.

I think this film will be the best superhero movie of all time visually. I have to wait for the trailers and film itself before i declare it the overall best film in the superhero genre, but visually the sets, the lighting and the costumes all look great. I love the mood of the environment in the Ozymandias picture.

I know that Ozzy's supposed to have a Roman look and nipples on his suit like a Roman breastplate, but how come they put the eye of Ra on his crotch?

In the comic that eye is on the big neck/shoulder piece he wears. That, with his choice of name, is why I thought the Egyptian references more apt than any Roman or Greek (remember he followed Alexander's path finally to his resting place in Egypt, and that was here he had his drug induced epiphany to become Ozymandias in the first place)

I like Ozy's costume. I was affraid they were going to go with a "cool" look, but thank god the end result is ridiculous enough.

This is maybe just promo picture, but if it's not...Comedian got his scar in Vietnam and than changed his mask from "Robin" to "full face" to cover up his identity better. In pic he's holding tear gas gun like in "Watchmen #2 page 17. N.O. flashback" and has "Robin" mask...WTF...I know it's nitpicking.

P.S. Costumes look great

It's a promo pic. As in not from the actual movie. The Comedian lacking his scar leads me to believe that these promo pics represent the heroes before Vietnam.

It looks to me that he has the same dimple that I've seen in every picture where he's smiling.

I kinda doubt that is the scar. It looks more like gruff make-up.

Something I threw together:

Pretty sweet:up:

Yup.
Can't say as I blame them if they don't want to use the 'Gimp mask'...all things considered.

I do. The gimp mask was such a great finish for him. He went from being a bright colored hero to a total war soldier and finally to just a violent psychopath. It was great.

Also you guys have seen the dead body in the Comedian pic right? At least I'm pretty sure it is a body.

Giving it some further thought you are right, I stand corrected. They should use it.

Now on one hand, some of the costumes are giving me bad Joel Schumacher flashbacks.

On the other hand, that is the popular consensus on what we expect superheroes to look like nowadays.

I don't agree with that, as Batman is the only superhero movie to take that approach.

Spider-Man, FF, Daredevil, Superman...even Ghost Rider and Hellboy: though the make up guys used some padding here and there to help the muscles out with a few of them (especially Pearlman), none sported sculpted muscles of the Schumacher kind we are seeing with Ozzy here.

I love them! The Silk Specter and Night-Owl look badass.

2 things though:

1. Is it me or does Night-Owl look abit pudgy? He looks like he's got something of a gut, like in the book, but maybe it's just the costume and/or lighting.

2. Is it me or does the Ozymandias costume look too big on the actor playing him? Not to mention, the actor doesn't really look...manly.

I can't wait to see this. I want trailer now!

I can see how you can get that idea from Ozymandias, but the rest are nothing like the travesty of the Schumacher-era Batman. The Comedian and Rorscach are pretty much taken off the page. Same for Nite-Owl, except for the cowl has been changed a bit. And Silk Spectre looks great.

1. I sure hope so.

2. Veidt never looked all that manly to me to begin with.

Thats could also be why Rorschach questioned Veidt's sexuality. Which is more fitting, the actor does look like someone that would make you think "Possibly Homosexual."
