The Flash The Flash General Discussion and Speculation Thread - - Part 11

The Flash had such a strong first two seasons, it just has been on decline since, with some peaks here and there for me personally. I feel like this season of Arrow has been the best of the CW shows so far.

Of all the ways to do that crossover. Guess they reached the peak with Earth X.

s2 was the sharpest nosedive

I bet they have short teasers like this for each of the main characters ready to go. I wonder if we'll see a Barry one tomorrow and a Kara one (possibly w/ Supes?) Sunday.

Stephen's head photoshopped onto Grant's body is hilarious.

But I'm excited for the crossover, this could be really cool.

You'd have thought it would've been easier just to take an actual photograph. :p

One thing I am … confused by; I thought the swap was going to be more a multiverse thing (in that there was going to be an Earth out there where Barry was the Green Arrow and Ollie was the Flash, but it instead seems as though they've literally switched places. Now, as interesting as that is, they're going to make poor heroes; Ollie has no experience of the speedforce, and knowing how Barry can't throw a punch to save his life, how are we (or how is anyone) expected to believe he can successfully fire an arrow?

There was a story in the late 90s where Kyle Rayner and Wally West briefly body-swapped. I can't recall the issue, but Kyle was unable to access the speed force. IIRC, Kyle and Wally were pretty much stuck until Alan and Jay intervened.

Well it seems as though Ollie will have access to the speedforce (why else wear the red flash suit) but he's no speedster; everything Barry has learnt in the last 3-4 years, Ollie doesn't know how to handle for himself.

We've seen snapshots of Ollie as the Flash, and Barry as the Green Arrow, but neither of them can realistically do what the other can. Sure, Ollie (induced with the Speedforce) could run really fast, but Barry firing an Arrow and actually hitting his target? Nah. Ollie running around is more likely to trip himself up or accidentally go forward/backwards in time before actually doing something right. At least, that should be the case. :p

Oh, I'm expecting a healthy dose of problems like that and/or them having to rely on their reputations to diffuse situations, ala Supergirl after her solar flare.

It'll be a fun three episodes, that's for sure. I don't know what's going to cause the identify swap either, but I do wonder (being that the swap will happen on Earth 1) whether Kara will see them as who they are, or who they were (who they actually are); her being from a different Earth and all. It's like if Barry changes the timeline on Earth-1, it shouldn't (or doesn't?) effect what happens on Earth-38.

It seems my suspicions were correct!

That also helps answer the question above: Barry clearly has Green Arrow's skill set here. So I guess it will similarly be like muscle memory with Ollie and the speed force.

Really like these promos, this crossover should be a lot of fun. Since this is our Barry and Oliver in the role switch and not entirely new elseworld characters, I really hope we get some funny callbacks to the first crossover, with Barry trying to shoot Ollie in the back or Ollie making a reference to finally being able to beat Barry in a fight.

I was actually hoping the actors would act like each other's character.

Rag Doll was deliciously creepy and the latest development between Nora and Iris was heartwarming. I love this show, and I hope it endures for years to come.

I guess I spoke too soon. Hah.

Now I'm curious about something else; do Diggle, Iris (and co) see Ollie as Ollie and Barry as Barry, or do they see Ollie as Barry, and Barry as Ollie; to elaborate on that, whilst (we can see) which actor is portraying which character, do they look the same to everyone else? When Barry looks into a mirror, does he see Ollie? Have they physically swapped places, or just … emotionally/psychologically switched places; like a soul swap I guess?

I was wondering that too. I'm guessing it's just a mindswap thing with their elseworld doppelgangers. So maybe there's a chance we'll still see actors playing the other personality (in the forms of Earth-1 Barry and Oliver) like some were hoping.

There's screen caps of them in their proper gear too, so presumably there will be scenes of them as themselves, it's just... I don't know how much (if any) of this crossover actually takes place on Earth-1. It's certainly going to be an interesting few episodes.

Interested in who Kara sees as the Flash and the Green Arrow (as in, will she see them for who they are, or who they actually are considering their mindswap (if it is indeed a mindswap).

BUT, consider this: We haven't seen how they're behaving as their "proper" selves yet. So maybe their Earth-1 versions have the personalities of the ones from this new Earth. The possibilities are endless! ;)

I've been skipping all of CW shows last Season and this Season. But I guess I might watch Arrow if it's really worth watching. How are Legends this Season?

It’s actually crazy to me to think that the next time I rewatch the Flash 1990 series that I know he later returns on the DC CW.

Ooh what if Kara wakes up at the Kent farm and she lives with Clark and Lois. So she never met the Danvers.

Well the EW article made it sound like Supergirl is called in because she’s the only one who sees Barry and Oliver for who they actually are, which makes me think her Earth is, at least initially, unaffected by these Elseworld shenanigans. So now I’m a little doubtful we’ll get one of these short teasers with her, and we may very well get the full trailer on Sunday instead.

Makes me wonder how Superman gets involved

Legends has been pretty awesome this season with Constantine and the various demons! Lots of funny and entertaining moments! IMO, it’s the best of the shows in the Arrowverse.
