Speaking of Green Lantern, I wonder if they could bring in Alan Scott to the CW lineup somewhere. He would round out the lineup of classic JSA mainstays we've seen already. He wouldn't need to have a strong connection to the Green Lantern Corps who might show up later. And he could show up on any one of those shows. (Hell, they could have him show up on Gotham if they want, since some canon versions have him patrolling the city when Bruce was a kid.) And his costume is a lot simpler.

The only thing I would worry about, is if they'd be able to give Green Lantern a decent costume. But effects wise, after everything we've seen them do, he'd be a piece of cake.

It really wouldn't be that hard. The protective sheath of energy and the symbols popping off the Lanterns' chests make for nice comic visuals, but they are mostly confined to the Johns' era and beyond. It's not necessary to have an all-energy, all-the-time costume. Just something shiny would do nicely.

But that's not even really the core issue. Putting aside Flash at it's best, Green Lantern can't get away with all the episodes and minutes where there isn't heavy CGI. There are simple TV effects Flash can do to make his powers happen to be a superhero without blowing up the budget. That's a lot harder a sell for Green Lantern. He becomes a different character when he isn't able to make big constructs when there's trouble. And it's bad enough when Barry gets sucker punched by something mundane, imagine Green Lantern, whose ring is supposed to protect him getting trapped under a bookshelf.

Green Lantern can't be shrunken down to TV size as well as Flash can. Look at Flash's Rogues, the most TV ready of all rogues galleries, Batman's included, imho. Look at Green Lantern's enemies... big headed psionics, death gods and lots and lots of other Lanterns.

Me personally, I'm all for a shrunken down Green Lantern, who uses his powers about as often as we see Grodd/King Shark/Time Wraiths. I'm down for that. Most people aren't though.

Sorry, I just can't agree that a GL would need to be projecting light at all times. A flash of light and an emerald battering ram appearing wouldn't be any more difficult than the lightning effects and massive props that we've seen on Flash.

As for villains: Dr. Polaris, Sonar, Black Hand, Major Force, Effigy, Solomon Grundy, Bolphunga. All of these seem comparable or easy compared to Zoom and Reverse Flash.

Scott has always been one of the most prominent members of the JSA, but he won't be there, at least in the early stages, on DCLoT. Hal's best buddies have been on TV for years, but Hal only gets Easter eggs on those shows. There are soldiers all over the place on DC shows, but not one of them is John Stewart. No Kyle. No Guy. No Kilowog. No Baz. No Jessica. WB just refuses to throw us a bone of any sort.

It is a little strange that the Green Lanterns have seemingly been shut out of the TV and the movies, ever since the Ryan Reynolds movie tanked I guess. (Then again, he was never on Smallville either.) He DID get an animated series that lasted one season. The DCCU apparently has plans to do a GLCorps movie EVENTUALLY, but that's still pretty far in the future and plans can change. It sounds like there's still a lack of confidence in Green Lantern as a brand.

Oh, that's not why I'm worried about it. I always think a good costume shouldn't be that hard to do. But Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow have shown that they like to stick to a lot of leather, and give everyone a similar jacket/pants outfit. Atom is like the only one who's costume had a lot of effort put into. But they basically turned him into Robocop.

Compared to the likes of King Shark and Grodd, not to mention the speed force effects, GL should be comparatively easy. We've also seen segments on Supergirl that are set on Krypton and Mars, with numerous aliens. Flash's finale included an light effects-heavy villain flown off by two CGI villains. Thus, I don't buy the "too complicated" argument for any character after what we've seen on these shows.

Eh, its not really the same thing. For one, all the scenes on Krypton involve solely Kryptonians, who aren't even Star Trek funny forehead aliens; you need well more than that to do a Green Lantern show right, where even a toned down space milieu is going to require a lot of makeup. For another, King Shark and Grodd are really CGI heavy, but they've also appeared in a fairly limited number of episodes to date. What you can do in 3.5 total eps is not what you can do for a whole series.

Ring constructs and flight are, comparatively, solvable problems, sure. They just are problems that need to be solved simultaneous to doing everything else. They also don't allow a lot of the easy speedster CGI "cheats" involving stuff happening in a blur that doesn't require much CGI because its intended to be a vague blur.

Honestly, after what they've done on Flash and LoT, I don't disagree. Doing Green Lantern is certainly possible. My skepticism surrounds the rest of the stuff the GL mythos would require, in terms of aliens and other worlds. I have sad images of a Green Lantern TV show where GL only leaves the Earth 2-3 times per season, and 90% of the aliens he encounters are human or all-but-human. It would make me sad; a Green Lantern show should at least spend half of its time in space, doing space stuff, and at least some of the aliens should go beyond "actor in basic makeup".

They should just do a ****ing GL TV show

I've been convinced that it can be done well.

I thought of a cool way they could have GL show up in the Flash/Arrow verse: Have one or more characters on a plane, maybe fighting a bad guy, and the encounter ends with the plane damaged and plummeting to the ground. There's no way to save it, until the old green energy beam picks it up and delivers it safely to the ground. You could have Superman show up the exact same way of course, but with GL (and Hal in particular) you'd have the added visual of using his ring to fill in the pieces of the plane that have fallen off while taking the controls and leveling out the descent.

GL's suit would probably end up similar to Firestorm's, but just green.

And that would be really disappointing. I think Green Lantern is one of those heroes, where the costume department needs to bring their A game.

True. Maybe they would do something like what Ray wear under all that Iron Man stuff. It doesn't look as leathery as other suits. But, I haven't gotten much of a look at it to fully remember.

Heh, I've actually said a number of times they should use that material. It looks form fitting and you could probably create some good looking costumes with it.

You have seen the biker club known as the CW heroes, right? 99% of their heroes have a jacket/pants leather combo.

LOL. I can't tell you how much I hated Vixen's costume downgrade for live action.

I can't even imagine how they'd handle a GL costume. Who have they managed that isn't leather? Atom? Barry?

Why don't they just do a nice strong fabric with a cool texture like all the movies do? What's up with that?

Found an old Post from another Thread.

This is the best look I found of his suit, he wears under his armor.

Nice, about time Barry Allen actually had a co-worker in the lab, I wish the show would highlight his job as a CSI more often.

Wait. I completely missed the @TomFelton announcement. I know what character he must be playing and I just got SO excited for this season.
Wonder if he means that in terms of just being excited to get to work with him, or if he means that his character is more than just who they're saying he is.

He means he wants to get jiggy with Tom.
