The Flash The Flash Season 5, Episode 8 - “What’s Past is Prologue” (100th Episode!!)

TOM CAVANAGH DIRECTS THE 100TH EPISODE — In the 100th episode, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash come up with a plan to stop Cicada (Chris Klein). However, the plan calls for Barry and Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) to travel back in time to gather some key necessities. However, Barry hesitates, concerned about his daughter seeing certain parts of his life.

Meanwhile, Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) takes his concerns about Nora to Iris (Candice Patton), and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) turns up a key asset in the fight against Cicada. Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Lauren Certo.

Wow "lets make a weapon stronger then Cicadas dagger!" brilliant thinking there.

All of this because they cant use their powers when near Cicada...may be time to learn some hand2hand combat.

Ok they got some super memory to remember every little detail and the exact date that it happened lol.

So Nora was originally Dawn in the original timeline...I can dig it.

Wells/Thawne still remains the best.

Gideon should've called her in Dawn but whatevs.

Are we getting no Eddie or Wally? Come on! Its the big 100!

Overall it was an ok 100th episode. Missing 2 very big key players so that sucked and kind of disappointed that them going back in time didnt cause any consequences (as far someone in the past being able to survive or something)

Is it another Wells, or Eobard whom Barry let go after Crisis on Earth X? And interesting that Nora was sending him messages. Also thought it was odd that she was being so talkative around him in the past. (Although that was not the same Thrawn.)

As far as 100th episodes go, that was great.

Loved the scene between Thawne and current Barry. They also fixed the suit/cowl and I thought it was much improved.

Not surprised about Thawne being back at all and I'm looking forward to it.

I was hoping this episode would be the end of Cicada in a way so we can deal with Reverse Flash going forward.

Onto Elseworlds - which looks pretty interesting.

Not so sure there aren't. Is that Earth X Thrawn or a version of Season 1 Thrawn? Could Barry and Nora going back to interact with him have given that Thrawn another option he did not have before, that would not lead to his death..?

It cant be since Nora has been working with him since before she traveled back in time.

Really great episode and noce to see zoom back again. If it isnt obvious going forward in the 2nd half of the season reverse flash will be the main villian i don't know what to say. Didnt they affect the timeline in a big way when zoom followed them and the time wrath took him?

I really liked this episode, I liked that Barry was very mature about the time travel and was super serious.

If there's one thing I think the show nails every time, it's the Barry and Thawne relationship, so it was great to get more of that as well as a promise of it in the future. This season has had an okay start, but I'm excited for the next half of the season. On to Elseworlds!

Really enjoyed the episode! Loved Barry and Nora traveling to various events and the reactions Nora had. That scene with Nora, Thawne and Barry was just great and full of tension! Cavanaugh’s is one of my favourite Comic Book villains in TV/Film!!!

Also loved the battle with Cicada, Ralph playing “Back in Time”, and the ending!

Only things I didn’t enjoy was not enough Zoom, or just archive footage of Ronnie and Stein. Also would have liked to see Eddie as well!

Yeah, she's from the future, so that is years away from anything happening currently on the show.
If this is Earth X Thrawn, then he has been on Earth 1 since that crossover, which means he could be working with Nora in the future. He looked pretty old there.
And the same if their going back in time gave Season 1 Thrawn an option he didn't have previously, and so he could be alive still and in the future, again working somehow with Nora.

Did/do exist in a timeline. Season 1 Thawne asks if Nora is Dawn and then makes a comment about how Barry’s time traveling means he still has at least one of his kids left.

I hope that means that there's still a chance for Bart to become a legitimate possibility somewhere down the line, especially if Nora's actions in the present changes the future to where she has a twin (or younger) brother.

I would probably come back to this show if Bart's existence (as Barry's biological grandson) is secured.

Some cool character moments in this episode. But WHY did they finally fix the ring after 7 episodes and NOT use it in the 100th episode? Why?!

I pretty much predicted that Nora was working with Eobard and I'm sure we will get a flashback episode later this season on how they formed this unsteady alliance. Also how could Eobard Thawne still be alive if Eddie killed himself? It wouldn't surprise me if the Reverse Flash teams up with Cicada later this season

Anyway this was a pretty good 100th episode. it was great seeing the Reverse Flash and Zoom again. I wish we saw more of Zoom but I guess Teddy Sears was busy at the time and I'm glad that he had the time to do this. I'm surprised we didn't get a lot of Iris in this episode.

I heard some fans speculate that Dawn is Nora's twin as a result of Nora going back to the past or that Nora was called Dawn in the original timeline when Barry's mother was still alive.

Only took them one scene to get caught and possibly screw things up. Zoom should have been able to grab Nora.

I think Sherlock might die or get replaced if he gets too close.

At least they give some reason why Nora is always annoying me in some way. If she is working with Thawn it could be why she meddles and acts really childish.

I don't watch Legends but didn't they have a Thawn? That would prove they can exist in other times, just because S1 was killed does not mean he is erased from existence. He was constantly time traveling.
