WOW, can you believe that was 20 years ago last September ?! :wow:
This was my first introduction to The Flash so I guess that's why I wasn't to sad to see Wally West leave the main title and Barry Allen come back because Barry Allen is The Flash I knew first. I know it's pretty pathetic but I actually was depressed for months after the show was canned. Anyway, just wondering if there are any other fans of this show out there.

I was too young for the show when it was first on, but I was big enough of a comic fan to blind buy the dvds when they were released.

The show was interesting, but I think only the second half of the first season was good, right when they started introducing villians for The Flash to fight.

I loved The Flash, I have 'the complete series' dvd box set I got for free via a mall gift card. I thought it was all great the casting (John Shipp as Barry/Flash was dead on to me) was good (Amanda Pays as Tina *whistles*). I LOVED the music Danny Elfman doing the theme and the late great Shirley Walker (Batman Animated Series, Superman Animated Series, Batman Mask of the Phantasm movie) doing the episode scores.

FUN FACT: The Flash suit was designed by The Rocketeer creator Dave Stevens ;).

wish I could have found a better, clearer version oh well :).

I watched the show and i really liked it, but it ended too early.
When i, first, show John's name on Dawson's Creek i was really exited to see the flash, again.:yay:

my fave bits are when Mark Hamill voiced James Jessie aka The Trickster. you can see in those 2 episodes he did where he got the origin of his Joker voice from ;).

Flash: "It's not guns that kill people, its these little HARD things!" *Flash throws bullets he caught from a cop's gun back at the cop's feet with super speed.

FUN FACT 2: the locations used for downtown "Central City" were re used for downtown "Metropolis" from Lois and Clark The New Adventures of Superman ;).

Was the Tina character ever in the comics?

Oh and here's an interesting idea. If they ever get The Flash movie green lit John Wesley Ship should play Jay Garrick.

I used to watch this show when it was on TV, and I loved it. I don't know how it stands-up today, as I haven't watched it in 19-20 years, but I remember loving the costume.

I may Netflix this to watch it again. :)

I used to watch this all the time when i was little. Can't remember a whole lot about the show but I remember they showed the pilot quite recently in the UK. It didn't hold up too well for me but for the time it was a great show

Sad when you think about it. Walker's dead, and Elfman's become so bland, it's embarrassing. Nowadays, I'll watch a movie, the credits roll at the end, and I'll see his name and be like, "REALLY?!?!" He did the score for Notorious!!! I'd never heard him do a score that was so innocuous before!

Never knew!

I was always a big fan of the show. Was lucky enough to tape them when they originally aired, so got to see them a few times over the years. I bought the DVds when they came out to have a nice clear copy. I always liked the "otherworld" look to them. A real fun show.

Never knew!

Elfman has not become so bland. That's horse manure if you really believe that. The Family Man, POTA (2001), Spider-man 1 & 2, Red Dragon, Hulk, Big Fish, C&TCF, Corpse Bride, Serenada Schizophrana, Charlotte's Web (2006), The Kingdom, Standard Operating Procedure, Wanted , Hellboy II, Milk, The Wolfman (2010), Alice in Wonderland (2010). That's most of the last decade. It doesn't get any diverse than that.

What you call bland. I call mature and complex. Elfman has really evolved from the silly, goofy, fun, over-the-top, comic booky, adventure style he was known for in the late 80s and early 90s. IMO, anyways.

I'm sorry but it always ticks me off when people say stuff like that and can't back it up. Just b/c you don't like the way Elfman has grown as a composer doesn't mean he's bland.

Anyways....

Anybody seen or remember these ?

I'm a fan of the show as well and remember watching it at 8:30 pm on Thursdays before CBS moved it's time slot and canceled it. I also used to watch the reruns Sci-fi channel aired on Sundays at 6:00 pm back in "96" and "97". I bought the dvds back in March and finally watched each disc each Friday last August and Sept. Still an entertaining and fun show.

It was my introduction to The Flash, too (outside of seeing him in a Super Powers toy ad on the back of a comic). I loved it but I didn't get to catch the episodes too often. The Flash comics looked goofy to me at the time though, so I stuck to the Marvel side of sides. It wasn't until years later, when Sci-Fi picked up the show and I picked up a copy of The Return of Barry Allen, that I really became a Flash fan. It made me respect the comics' Barry but Wally was who I connected to.

The show was really fun, one of the better comic adaptations to come about during that period after Burton's Batman. I just wish they'd done more with the villains from the comics. It would have been cool if the Rogues we did see ever got to band together.

That was the plan I believe if the series had been picked up for a 2nd season. BTW The dvd set I have doesn't have any commenary on it. But I remeber imdb.com saying somthing about one. Does anyone else's DVD have one?

A good show that went before its time. Canned just when it was getting good. Darned Iraq War.

I'd rank The Flash as arguably one of the best live action comic book inspired tv series of the 90's. It wasn't exactly like the comics but had a fun style all its own. The suit was a little bulky but otherwise I loved the look.

For its time you can tell they were spending a lot of money on it and in the end I think it was the budget and being bounced around the timeslot because of the war and stiff competition from shows like The Simpsons and The Cosby show that really hurt it.

I remember I'd turn to CBS and see Dan Rather instead of the Flash.

that second sentence made little or no sense at all to me sorry.

His favorite episode is the one where FLASH is accidently sent to a future where his brother's killer PIKE, has taken control of the city and rules like a dictator....he also likes the character NIGHTSHADE who helped FLASH in two episodes.

Nightshade was a cool character and always reminded me of The Sandman. It was funny that his old foe The Ghost was played by...Anthony Stark :hehe:

oh he meant nightshade I wondered what that person was talking about. yeah I liked both episodes that character was in, I loved his 'black beauty' looking car ala green hornet ;).

So I was browsing the internet trying to see if I could find any good animated gifs of The Flash (If anyone knows any good resources for some I'd appreciate a link by the way) when I came across The Flash TV series page on the WB website. It allows you to watch the episodes for free. So I thought I'd share the link for those that might be interested in watching The Flash. :yay:

I should be getting these from Netflix in a few days. Kinda excited to watch the show again. :)

I just re watched the pilot 'movie' off of my DVD set. the way it was set up and shot and scripted it could have been a theater based film and not a TV pilot. mainly cause of the very nice visuals (not bad for a TV budget in 90) and Shirley Walker/Danny Elfmen's very nice score. the cast was dead on, especially Amanda Pays as Tina McGee :hrt:. some of the things I LOVED:

Barry finding about his ability first at the park when he ran PAST his dog, to him trying to catch the bus and ending up 30 miles past the mark :hehe: Barry doing that speed run at the test track in the 'soviet prototype deep sea suit' (I still laugh when he scoops up Tina at speed and runs a few laps causing her shirt to start to fall apart :hehe: x2). but the part I love the best when you see him in the suit for the first time as The Flash :awesome:.
