The CW Considering TV Series for The Flash

Deadline is reporting that The CW is considering bringing another DC hero to television and it is none other than The Flash. The site says that Arrow writers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, along with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, would write the pilot based on the character. It is rumored that the character could make an apperance in the upcoming season of Arrow before running off into his own series. The CW is expected to talk more about the idea later today at their Television Critics Association panel.

The Flash isn't the only DC hero that The CW is considering for a TV series as a Wonder Woman show titled "Amazon" has been in development for over a year.

What do you think of the announcement of a "Flash" TV series? Who would you want to see play the Scarlet Speedster? Sound off below!

I dont see why DC keeps trying to put their bigger heroes on TV especially ones like Superman, Wonder Woman, and now Flash who should have a big budget in their stories.
Arrow I kinda understood, but I didnt think it would end up good and, imo, it didnt. They still havent made a good show based on superheroes.

I hope this doesnt go through or at least it doesnt hinder plans for a Flash movie

Can't wait. Arrow's fantastic now and Kreisberg is a man with a passion for his projects.

Flash fits really well on CW. They are good with romance and it could be a really fun police drama. Just gotta figure out where the speed fits in

I'm excited for this. It's about time he gets another show. I would prefer a movie but I'm not picky.

They should call this show... Flash.

It fits with the one word titles like Arrow and Amazon, and doesn't sound silly. Plus it would be his actual name, unlike Arrow (maybe they should've just called that "Hood").

They can't really call it Speed. And Impulse would sound like someone unable to defer immediate pleasure.

We've already had a Flash t.v. show before & it just seems to me that WB is a reluctant to put more of their DC properties on the big screen or are proceeding with a little trepidation with all of them with the exception of Batman.

I'll take the new Flash series, even though I'd prefer it being a theatrical film instead.

Wally on tv, Barry in the movies. Both are still possible.

True, but it be a little confusing to casual movie fans.

It would be cool if they when they start tying in their television shows into the films when they make justice league, kind of like marvel with their agents of shield show, except using the shows to establish some of their riskier properties.

Unlike Arrow (maybe they should've just called that "Hood").

He's going by Green Arrow THIS upcoming season. :cwink:

And this is beyond awesome news. Arrow is amazing, so this will probably be as well.

Also on the comments section I noted one asking how Greg could be behind Arrow and not have Green Lantern come out well at all -- if you can get your hands on it, read their first draft which whoever it was took it, brutally raped, then shoved it back out. The film that wound up on the screen isn't theirs.

I like this idea in theory because Flash would be cool alongside Arrow. Personally though I'm with a lot of people in that the 1st tier DC heroes (Batman, WW, Supeman, GL, Flash, MM, Aquaman) should have movies to where the characters that people necessarily don't know about should get tv shows.

Arrow is great, Flash could be could, but personally I want SHAZAM!

He'll be known as the "Running Guy." He has to earn the name Flash through a 5 year origin story.

I like the idea...and WB has put a hero on TV and in movies...Superman Returns came out while Smallville was on the air.

I hope this show gets made. The 90's Flash show was pretty good (for it's time) and if the new one is done right it could be great.

Too bad they're basing it on Barry. They could've used Wally and made the series a sequel to the 90s series.

I think I am beginning to see a method to WB madness...Arrow is a hit, and let's say Flash becomes a hit and they finally do a WW series and it becomes a hit. Then these guys and gal can jump to movies that tie into Bat/Sups and into JL. They knock out an origin story on TV and that way when JL comes around it's with established heroes.

Interesting.

22 but who gives a ****? It's The Flash! Stop being haters! This will be awesome! Plus, it confirms that super powers will be on Arrow. Well, if Barry does indeed have his accident on there which I don't see why he would be on there the whole time with no powers. They'd want him to have powers just to see how he'll test with audiences n whatnot. Can't wait to see who they cast

I remember seeing the first Flash attempt back then and it was typical TV campy for the era but it could've worked. Except the comic book medium was even less credible back then so no one watched it.

I don't think it was less credible...it came out after Batman dropped and tried to ape that style...even had a Danny Elfman theme

the old Flash tv show was awesome! the suit was badass and i loved how it was sort of inspired by Burton's Batman films

Let him be a normal guy while he recurs on Arrow, then give him his powers on the first episode of his spin-off. The producers made a big deal about there being no powers in the Arrow-verse, they might as well stick to their word.

Also, if they put more DC shows on this network like WW then most of the Justice League movie will contain cheap CW actors. Sly thinking, WB.

Have they come out and said no powers on Arrow? That seems hard to believe that they would limit themselves like that
