Swearing is always needed.............. ya f***ers.

:oldrazz:

I think the swearing was needed in Live Free or Die Hard. It's recognized as a big part of John's character. It's not swearing for swearing's sake, it's swearing because that's just who he is.

I know that. I'm just saying that it really didn't change the movie at all. Plus the dubbing was horrible.

Swearing is awesome. Period. Classics like Glengarry Glen Ross, Reservoir Dogs and even Die Hard itself wouldn't be anywhere near as good without the language.

Die Hard also rocked because of the "oh god, that's a lot of blood when you shoot someone" factor.

Remember the shot that pans around so you're looking at Hans through the hole in Ellis' head? Awesome shot.

Also blood is another necessity. Rambo in the .50 cal raped every other action scene in 2008. Likewise Watchmen has the best comic book action scenes IMHO.

sigh, still haven't seen watchmen

My opinion is that Sin City has the best comic book action scenes.... cause the crazy action was actually true to the source and in the spirit of it in being over the top and violent.

Also, the rainbow colors of blood helped. :hehe:

And I think the only real Fox movie that I am thinking about seeing... is Avatar and that's only because of Jim Cameron and the fact that his name carries enough weight that Fox really can't completely butcher it.

the spider-man 2 train scene still stands out for me.

OMG, how could I forget! Sin City has tremendous action. Even better when Bruce Willis and Clive Owen are trying to restrain their utter glee at how much fun they're having and Mickey Rourle doesnt even bother to hide it!

ok yeah, sin city action scenes were awesome

This doesn't have much to do with Rothman but, I find it interesting that 3 of the most disappointing films I've seen(X-Men 3, Alien 3, and The Phantom Menace) are associated with Fox. Of course The Phantom Menace was only distributed by Fox so the flaws of that film wasn't their fault.

I loved Alien 3. It's so nihilistic I have to take a shower everytime I watch it.

haha

aliens is better. obviously.

Only by a little bit. If Fincher wasn't getting shafted by the studio on a daily basis they might have been equal in quality.

Alien 3 was good for what it was... of course once judged against what it could have been, it sucks.

I think my favourite abandoned Alien 3 concept is David Fincher's $150 million dollar Hearts of Darkness adaptation. I think he may have been joking, but it sounds epic on paper.
