The General Comic Discussion Thread - Part 2

DC also announced Hush sequel with Jeph Loeb & Jim Lee!

DC really cooking since Gunn took over.

Eh not particularly excited about Loeb/Lee on Batman. Just seems like they're going back to the well. And for me Hush 2 is Heart of Hush lol.

Can't blame DC for going back to the hits... they need some. Sales haven't been great for DC this past year or so.

- While I dug the first issue of Last Halloween, I can't say I have any interest in Hush 2. Didn't like it back then. Didn't like it on my reconsideration re-read. Dini did the better Hush stories in my opinion.

- that Absolute Batmobile...my idea of Poor Batman cannot reconcile that thing. We'll see.

- Speaking of which, Absolute Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter all look and sound very exciting.

- Pretty cool that Aquaman is back. Even better that Jeremy Adams is writing it. But John Timms? I really *really* do not like his artwork.

- Hey, Vertigo's back!

Since this Bruce is a city engineer/construction worker... it kinda makes sense his Batmobile looks something like this, just on steroids lol!

Yep!

Also, Jeremy Adams writing Aquaman is awesome. He has done a fantastic job with Green Lantern (specifically Hal's characterization/personality) can't wait to see what he does with Aquaman. I guess that means he's probably going to hand GL off to someone else though? Sigh...

Tim Seeley: nice guy. (I met him at a con once.)
But maybe the worst writer at DC.

I’m still really bummed that Adams is no longer on Flash. He was great and his fun tone is very much missed.

I never did read his Flash run, but I only heard good things about it and I believe it. I can't say the same about the current Flash run.

Meanwhile, here I am, waiting to read issue #1, as nobody is sending copies to Europe. It's been a challenge to avoid spoilers.
Is there any way you could buy it from Amazon or read it online somewhere instead?

The UK i think is one of the European countries that gets them fast.
Ebay is always a good place to go, but its a bit more expensive.

I tend to read the stuff online, its no ideal but thats the price you gotta pay as a european DC comic fan.

That's what I usually do, too. Read the new books online somewhere.
Yup, i hate it but its the only option i have unless i want to completely cut myself off from the comic community.
If i want to be part of it, i gotta have to go digital.

I’m 95% digital reader myself. DC Infinite is without a doubt my most-frequented streaming service and it ain’t even close.

In another note, have there been any announcements about The Last Days of Lex Luthor? Issue #1 came out like a year ago and I’ve been waiting for the rest ever since. It seems like it has fallen through the cracks. But good heavens, it was a great start!

I think the artist, Bryan Hitch, has other commitments or something, which is why the book has been delayed.

I really, really hate reading books and comics online. Nothing beats the physical touch of a book, the analysis, and so on.

Unfortunately, Amazon does not sell comics, only HC, TP, or graphic novels.

I found a potential seller on eBay, but shipping is definitely not cheap. What device do you use to read comics? Just a digital screen or a specific e-reader?

I bought very early on a Kindle from Amazon and that Works just fine.
I think it doesnt really matter, i think you can even read on your Smartphone.

Im Not a Fan myself of Digital...i dont like Digital anything, games, movies, comics.
But to keep up to date, its just sadly a necessary evil.
But i See the positive in it...i Support Good comics twice, once when i buy Digital issues and once when i buy the Volumes physical.

Out of curiosity, isn’t there a visible difference between a Kindle and a smartphone, in terms of colors, zoom? Maybe, I will try to convince to get me a Kindle for Christmas
