The Gimp

I downloaded 'The Gimp' today, and this is my first picture using it:

I just did a sketch (using the mouse, which is why it's all wobbly)
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for using the software! It'd be a great help.

very nice sketch! i could never draw that well just with a mouse! i used the gimp for about a year before i finally tracked down a copy of photoshop, and i have a lot of time for it... altho it has to be said, photoshop is MUCH more powerful...

have you ever used photoshop? they work in pretty similar ways... the best tip i can give you is get to know your layers and how to use them. also, unlike photoshop, the submenu windows don't automatically stay on top, which is can be very freaking annoying, so learn the shortcuts for the different tools! if you have any specific questions, please feel free to PM me... laterz, and happy gimping!
