AMAZING movie!..

im surprised i hadnt even heard of it...
its also appearantly the first part in a series of novels. It's an epic whodunnit story (2.5hours) but not as draggingly slow as zodiac was.

the second part comes out this friday called "The Girl Who Played With Fire"

hurry up and watch it before hollywood remakes it!

just saw the second one... just as awesome!

this is the star wars of mystery movies..

ended in a cliffhanger cant wait for the third one!!
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest

In Sweden they've shown extended three hour versions of all three movies (split up in six 1,5 hour-long episodes) on tv

thats just too much.. lol

though i think the second one should be a little longer.. i hope the theatrical version i saw wasnt cut up too much, cause it felt alot faster than the first.

Thinking of watching it. How graphic is the movie?

pretty graphic but not too too violent.

I enjoyed the first one a lot. We havent had a strong female lead like this since the bride in Kill Bill.

Girl With a Dragon Tattoo is a brilliant thriller, unfortunately the 2nd and 3rd flick doesnt live up to the first one. I think it was mostly due to the director change. The Girl Who Played With Fire feels like...well you know... a middle movie. And the Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest was more of a political thriller that sums up Lisbeth Salanders story but doesnt add anything unique to it.

How "smart" are these films? I ask because I read the back of the case at Best Buy and it didn't seem to interest me all that much since i've seen this kind of story in a number of past films.

If enough people rave about it, I might just put it on my Netflix cue.

They are very smart flicks. You get deeply enveloped with the two main characters. I mean its nothing we havent seen before but nonetheless the script is well polished and the acting is rock solid.

Sounds alright. I'll probably add the first one to my Netflix cue and give it a chance.

Watched all three of these films a few months ago. They been available on the internet for awhile. But yeah, amazing trilogy. Noomi Rapace is an amazing actress.

they're very smart films... you need to pay attention 100% or you could get lost very quickly and easily.

as far as violence goes... its the first NR rated movie ive seen in theaters. There's barely much gore, its more sex than anything. If you're going for violence or action dont bother seeing it.. its not that kinda movie, its a mystery trilogy.

Maybe it's because I'm not a mystery fan, but I just couldn't get into "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" at all. I just can't see how it got so damn popular.

Smart? Everything about the flick was solid, but what particularly was so "smart" about it?

I too was interested in this series because of all the hype it got overseas. I must say while I didn't feel ripped off, I was only slightly disappointed because it nowhere near deserved the label it has. Do not get me wrong though, definitely see it if you like thriller mysteries. But it ain't gonna be a classic, imo. Highlight of the flick is definitely the actress playing Lisbeth. Remarkably strong performance.

really? i havent seen an american mystery/thriller come anywhere near as close to this one in terms of the grand scale of the investigation and intertwining clues, and especially with a great set of characters and actors.

Zodiac tried... but it was just bland and uninteresting... it got to a point where you just didnt care about who the killer was and just wanted an end to it all. Plus it felt more like a historical documentary of the 70's rather than a murder mystery.

I think its technically already a classic... its gotten incredible critic praise and grossed over 100mil (on a 13mil budget)... not a classic in america (duh) but elsewhere it is.

anyone know when the third one will be released in the US in theaters?

I'm really getting stoked about this!
Is it in English, or am I going to be reading subtitles?

That sucks, since I am generally unable to read unless pictures of superheroes are next to the words.

I thought the payoff with the killer(s) ended up being underwhelming. You're right, it "felt" big, but ultimately it was a small reward. I just didn't think the reveals lived up to the high expectations set by the mystery itself.

Se7en and Memories Of Murder are far, far, far better thriller mysteries with superior filmmaking.

As long as there are bewbs, subtitles are irrelevant.

i disagree.. i think se7en is a horribly overrated film...
it has amazing acting, and cool concept, but as far as mystery goes it was lame and boring... when the killer was revealed it was like "ok? so?" ... and the twist at the end that everyone was raving about.. i saw coming a mile away and that seemed to be the whole point of the film.

There is an English dub on the DVD. It's pretty terrible, though.

The bewbs in this movie are the scariest I've ever seen. She looks like she's never worn a bra in her life. And I mean that in the bad way.

This movie has more SAG than the Oscars, huh?

Zodiac is an overlooked gem of a film and one of the best of last decade. This sounds very interesting as this film is on my queue. I'm always up for what Fincher does, and seeing him to thrillers is what I love about him.
