Someone had to make it. Westerns have been a part vital part of film as long as film has been around. Starting with The Great Train Robbery, the genre has captured the imaginations of many viewers and refused to let go. It inspired and help spawn many genres along with questioning the morality of the late 1800s. Talk and debate your favorite westerns, western characters, and quotes.

My favorite Westerns:

Once Upon a time in the West:

b70-5158

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:

MPW-27999

High Noon:

b70-2784

Favorite quotes:

From The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:

Blondie: [counting Angel Eyes' men] One, two, three, four, five, and six. Six, the perfect number.
Angel Eyes:
I thought three was the perfect number.
Blondie:
I've got six more bullets in my gun.

From Once Upon a time in the West:

Morton: Not bad. Congratulations. Tell me, was it necessary that you kill all of them? I only told you to scare them.
Frank: People scare better when they're dying.

From a Fistful of Dollars:

Joe: Get three coffins ready.
Kills 4 guys
Joe: My mistake. Four coffins...

And Unforgiven was a classic. I can't believe I forgot that. Also, I should add 3:10 to Yuma (both the original and the remake).

Part 2.

_ Little Big Man.
_ Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
_ Jeremiah Johnson.
_ High Noon.
_ The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
_ A Man called Horse.
_ Ruggles of Red Gap.
_ Vera Cruz.
_ Gunfight at OK Corral.
_3.10 to Yuma (original).
_ The Wild Bunch.
_ Blazing Saddles:woot:.

Etc...

Just got into the "western fever". These are, up 'til now, my favorites in no particular order:

*3:10 To Yuma (Remake)

*Appaloosa

*Tombstone

*Open Range

*The Unforgiven

*Young Guns 1 & 2

*Three Amigos

I bought the following and are the next to be watched:

*The Man With No Name Clint Eastwood Trilogy

*Hang'em High

*Deadwood Series The Complete Collection (I saw a few episodes when it aired on HBO)

*Wyatt Earp

Does anyone mind if i turn this into a tournament. ? I could compile a list rther quickly bare in mind be alot o Duke and Eastwood involved.

one of the greatest westerns that is often over looked is THE GREAT SILENCE. seriously, go dig on that, such an amazing film!

Awesome. My bias upfront-I don't watch anything John Wayne.

The best off the top.

UNFORGIVEN
Silverado
"The Wild Bunch" - nO stinkin bajez!!

Tombstone

Hang em High
Good, Bad and the Ugly.

Whats the one w/ Yule Brenner-he was a creole hired gunfighter and was hired by this small town to catch this guy...Pat Hingle was in everything wasn't he?

Support your Local Gunfighter

My Television favs.

Steve McQueen's 'Wanted Dead or a Alive' and the greatness of Lucas McCain-'The Rifleman'

I don't mind and I don't think anyone else would mind. In fact, I would love it :yay:

The Good The Bad and The Ugly Western Tournament .

This will involve anything westerns and be filled with good bad and ugliest characters ever to grace the silver screen. Its just too bad that westerns are seen as Hallmark worthy films only these days.
Hard to believe westerns are not being explored seriously for they created Eastwood, The Duke and many great legends and made them icons.
Message to Coens don't mess up True Grit please.

Round One Battle 1.

Lonesome Dove.

Say what you will Duvall is one of those all american cowboys and its no better way then to start with Two best Duvall Westerns other then True Grit role

I haven't seen any of them:o.
Maybe because I'm not a big Costner fan.
And Tommy Lee Jones looks like Kenny Rogers.

My favs:
The Dollars Trilogy
Once Upon a Time in the West
Silverado
Tombstone
Pale Rider

For some odd reason I never took to Ride the High Country, and I'll have to see it again.

A very sad and powerful "end of an era" Western, with two great performances by Western Icons Randolph Scott and Joel Mc Crea. Also a strong precursor to "Unforgiven".
(And almost anything with Warren Oates in it's got my vote:woot:.)

My father introduced me to westerns as a kid. I remember seeing on TNT during the morning on the weekends.

Favorite movie of all time
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Other Westerns I like:
Once Upon A Time in The West

Tombstone

The Searchers( Only John Wayne movie I liked)

The Outlaw Josey Wales(surprised noone mentioned this one yet)

3:10 to Yuma

That said, there is no western more badass than Tombstone...

Call me old-fashioned, but I still prefer "Gunfight At OK Corral."

All the westerns mentioned are great, but I just wanna say that the final shootout in 3:10 to Yuma the remake is one of the finest I've seen on film of any genre. Also Open Range's final shootout had a bad ass beginning to it, ah man I love it.

My fav westerns.

Once upon a time in the west
The Wild Bunch
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
The Dollars Trilogy
The Proposition
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
