TV Wasteland: The Greatest American Hero Flies Again, or Not.
By: Stephen Lackey
Date: Monday, June 16, 2008

Icons of retro television continue to pour onto the sets of the NBC hit Heroes. Last season, Nichele Nichols from Star Trek: The Original Series appeared on Heroes in a small William Kattrole along with George Takei, and Joanna Cassidy (Blade Runner). and this year William Katt - best known as the “hero” from the 80’s TV series The Greatest American Hero - is coming to the series. He won’t dawning the cape and tights and crash landing into big bushes this time around though. He’s playing a seedy reporter hot on the trail of Nikki, who apparently doesn’t die from the explosion that ended season two. The fact that Nikki survives could be considered a spoiler but realistically did anyone think she was dead? Newsarama is featuring an interview with Katt where he says:

“I just filmed it last week. I play a really, really wonderful, seedy, smarmy-mouthed reporter that goes after Ali Larter. It was a lot of fun.”

Katt goes on to say that Heroes is more “Hitchcockian” than his early series and it offers a much darker look at the world of super heroes much like modern comic books. Finally, the comments that there are a lot of twists yet to come, as if we weren’t expecting that. It appears that his character may only be in a single episode of Heroes. Katt is staying busy though, now owning his own comic book company and sitting in the middle of buzz about a theatrical version of The Greatest American Hero.

This is a fairly bleak week for interesting television, especially with Battlestar Galactica over. This third episode of Fear Itself is supposed to be the best of the first three made so it’ll be interesting to see if it lives up to the “hype” around it. At least the AFI Top 10 special features Sci-fi and fantasy films in the list.

Too bad William Katt not wearing the suit :hehe: and there's some spoiler in it, so read at your own risk :p

i love watching the The Greatest American Hero as a kid. nice to know he's still working.

Speedy? Don't we already have a speedy villain on the case here? Also how did the villains find out Nicki is a live? Maybe by Adam I suppose. But still strange, guess this guy will be Nickis nemsis, but she's going to be a villain this Volume AKA Jessica. Villains facing villains? Or could this guy be a heroe tailing Jessica? I don't know LOL. This info is really getting me excited though.

He's a seedy reporter, not a speedy reporter. In another interview with Katt, it was revealed his character doesn't have a power. And it looks like he may be in only one episode, so I doubt he's what you'd consider a true nemesis of anyone.

I'll have to tell a friend of mine, who loves "The Greatest American Hero", about this.

Awe got it, my mistake. Also no power eh? That's cool, it would be cool if it he was popular enough to stay longer though, like Elles character. She was only supposed to be in a few episodes, than get killed off by Syler I think, but do to fans support she got brought back. So maybe the same thing can be done with this guy, we hardly have people on the show with no powers these days :csad:
