What do you consider out of the Disney Animated canon to be the greatest one of all time?

1 The Lion King
2 Bambi

Third would be either Mulan or Pocahontas but the top 2 are honestly the only ones I would consider genuinely great movies rather than just generally solid kids movies.

It's always been a tough call between Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King for me. Beauty and the Beast for that classic Disney formula as @Lily Adler said, Aladdin for just being the funniest of them all thanks to the iconic Robin Williams as the Genie, and The Lion King for just being an epic story that transcends being "just a kid's movie". They're also the Disney animated movies that I find the most rewatchable and are just as good if not better than when I would watch them as a kid. I was born in '88, so those three coming out when they did really had a big impact on my childhood.

Coming from someone who was born in the early 90's I have to go with The Lion King because while I can't remember a lot of things from the mid 90's I still remember the original TLK poster being my first ever movie poster to be hanged on my bedroom wall as well as me pretty much watching it on VHS almost every day after school.

Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast are great too, but neither of those movies ever came close to how much I love TLK although Toy Story comes really close, but TLK slightly eclipses it overall.

Of old school 'classic', for me it's Pinnochio, my favourite classic.

I count Pixar outside of Disney for the purposes of this discussion.

New age Disney (90's renaissance onwards).... The Lion King.

For me, there’s different categories of what Disney era cause it’s usually what era you grew up in are your favorites and that gets boring. So with that said;

Golden Age (1937-1949) : Pinocchio
Silver Age (1950-1967) : The Jungle Book
Dark Days (1970-1988) : The Great Mouse Detective
The Renaissance (1989-1999) : Beauty and the Beast
Post Renaissance aka Dark Days II (2000-2008): Treasure Planet
The Renaissance II (2009-present) : Moana

Top ten favourites, just for the hell of it (no order):

Pinocchio
The Lion King
The Little Mermaid
The Emperor's New Groove
The Great Mouse Detective
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Dumbo
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin

Maybe swap out either Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast for Peter Pan. Somehow the originals completely passed me by when I was a child, and I only ever really watched their direct-to-video sequels, Return of Jafar & The Enchanted Christmas. So sadly I don't have as much of a nostalgic connection to those two as I do for most of the other films on the list. But the two films are obviously masterpieces, no doubt.

It's true. People do tend to gravitate towards what was new when they were growing up as far as Disney movies go, but I also have a lot of love for the older classics like Snow White, Pinocchio, 101 Dalmatians and especially The Jungle Book. I remember seeing Snow White when it was rereleased in theaters back in either '93 or '94 and I had worn out the VHS tape for The Jungle Book from watching it so many times.

It will always be Aladdin for me. Story, animation, songs (and I generally hate movies that break out into song).
Had the best video game adaptions.

PLUS ROBIN FRIGGIN WILLIAMS. LURVE him. The movie was in the running to be nominated for best screenplay, but they had to re-neg the nomination, as Robin Williams adlibbed sooo much of his dialogue. Crazy.

Will never watch the remake. Will. Never. Pun intended.
