The Greatest Ever Fighting Series?

Yeah that list is missing to many, this poll is more comprehensive.

It depends, historically it is easily Street Fighter. Now-a-days, Soul Calibur. Smash Brothers isn't a fair comparrison to any of these as it is entirely unique and in a genre of its own.

I just thought I'd throw Smash Bros in as a curveball, a different type of Fighter in case someone says 'hey what about this.

There is only one,and its Street Fighter.I doubt there would really be a fighting genre without SF.

The poll in that thread and this is exactly the same without SSB and added Dalkstalkers.
...and the VS series is essentially Street Fighter, not it's own thing...

Dalkstalkers is great, Vs is more of a button masher than SF and SSB is an entirley different approach to the fighting genre.

Definately the Street Fighter series.

It's between Virtua Fighter and Tekken for me, but I eventually went with Virtua Fighter. Street Fighter may have heralded the genre, but for me, it doesn't stand up against modern fighters.

I pick SSB because of how complicated the fighting is and the skill you can develop playing it.

Easily Street Fighter. Aside from helping pave any fighter that came after it and basically making the genre (in my eyes atleast), it still is a great game. Street Fighter 2 still is a fun game after all this time, and the MVC series is just mindless combo fun and very popular at the arcades. Not to count Street Fighter 4 should be out in a few years and I'm eager to see what they do with the series :).

Second would be Tekken, and then Soul Caliber.

Street Fighter 3 is a masterpiece that easily surpasses anything Tekken or Virtua Fighter can come up with.
