Dr. Octopus and the Scorpion....

The Green Goblin turned into his greatness enemy thanks in part to the sad "quick fix" of the Clone Saga, and other than his first two Marvel appearances, Venom has been nothing but a joke.

Though I like the J.Jonah Jameson idea as well...

I have to say, the way I look at it. The Green Goblin should be considered Spidey's greatest enemy despite his "involvement" at the end of the Clone Saga.

Having recently read through the first ASM Omnibus, you can appreciate that even before he was revealed to be Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin caused Spidey a fair amount of trouble. Constantly evading capture and leaving Peter to wonder when he would strike again.

Then of course, he set about finding out Spidey's secret identity. To which not only was he successful, but also used this knowledge to strike Peter where it hurt the most. Resulting in the death of Gwen Stacy.

All the rubbish that came later about Norman's resurrection and him being behind the whole Clone Saga, not to mention Sins Past, has only served to somewhat dilute what was not only the Goblin's greatest victory, but also Spidey's greatest defeat.

I thought there was only one Spider-Man omnibus. I think that Harry is just as deserving to be the Goblin as Norman,i've heard about Harry as the Goblin and i've wondered if it's possible to read those issues.

Obviously,the top 3 will always be Goblin,Ock and Venom. I choose Venom. Although the character has been wasted for most of his time in comics,he IS Spider-man's darker side. I love the whole story of Venom/Brock.

I will always be of the opinion the JJJ is Spidey greatest enemy.Everyone else up there is a criminal,but JJJ as an Upstanding citizen, has done more to hurt Spidey than all of them put together.

Mysterio for me

Always been my top villain. love the concept and his previous background record and his dome goofy or not is still a neat addition to his costume.

I also have a lot of support for Shocker and Chameleon.

All the classic villains are good really but always Mysterio at the top.

My favorite is Venom because he is so interesting and his desire for revenge against Spider-Man is so gripping. He also messes with Peter's mind and Spidey's spider sense can't detect him. I have other reasons as well.

My favorite Spider-Man villains?

1) Venom- Any incarnation, 616/Ultimate/90's Tas/SM-3. He is the character which got me hooked on Spider-Man comics and comics in general. I've been a fan of this character for years. I've been here long enough, those who are familiar with me have heard me ramble on about it.

2) Green Goblin- Come on, this villain is truly a significant aspect of the Spider-Man saga. Norman is truly a sick, twisted son of a *****.

3) Doctor Octopus- Intelligent. Stylish. Evil. A mad genius who looks professional at what he does.

4) Electro- I believe this character is underrated! Potentially one of the most powerful Spider-Man villains ever.

These are my top Spider-Man villains, however honorable mentions include the Lizard, Scorpion, Sandman.

Since this is my brother's thread, I will post my TOP 5 FAVORITE SPIDEY VILLIANS...

1) Hobgoblin- Hobby ROCKS ENOUGH SAID (i prefer him over Stormin' Norman's Green Goblin)... this is a perfect villian for spidey because he represents everything Spidey fights against (CRIME, CORRUPTION, THEIVERY)

2) Scorpion- he's a good all round villian w/ a lot of motivation... He is strong enough to be a major threat to Spidey but can also be a minor character to another major villian.

3) CARNAGE- this character is chaos incarnate... SUCH A MAJOR THREAT TO SPIDEY... go cledus

4) THE LIZARD- one of P. Parker's mentors turned into a villian against Spiderman ????? THAT'S POWERFUL STORYTELLING.

5) DOC OCK- a quintessential villian.... when I think Spidey, I think Doc Ock...

Here are my favorite Spider-Man Villians. Now I know I already posted why Venom is my favorite Villian, but I just will copy and paste it into this post.

2. Green Goblin- He is such a phenomenal Villian. He learned Peter's secret identity, tied him up, and killed Gwen Stacy! Then Harry becomes the Green Goblin and he follows in his fathers footsteps.

3. Doctory Octopus- he is smart, menacing, and he is overall badass. This Villian will kill somebody while having a drink or a cigar. He only cares about his work and never lets anybody get in his way.

4. The Lizard- this Villian is like a poor sould trapped in a monster. He wants to escape it, but it's like it catches up to him. Dr. Curt Connors has a wife and son and he tries to grow his arm back, but it goes terrible wrong. He's fast, very powerful, and very agile, which is some of the tihng that makes this character so awesome.

5. Sandman- this Villian is awesome because he can shapeshift and turn rock solid or very soft. Spidey can get the crap beaten out of him by Sandman. That's some of the things that make Sandman awesome.

Those are just my top 5 favorite Spider-Man Villians. I also really like Electro, Mysterio, Vulture, Carnage and more.
