This is the official thread for the upcoming (June 25, 2010?) Green Hornet film produced, co-written, and starring Seth Rogen. ( Not sure I would have picked him for any of those positions.......but he will. Here you can discuss your feelings about the upcoming movie and post new information about it. New info would be appreciated.

First of all, as I previously stated, Seth Rogen is not my choice for anypart of this movie, especially the role of the Green Hornet, but he will be playing old GH and I made this crude doctored photo of what he may look like.

Not even close to who I would have casted but apparently someone thought different. I have a bad feeling its gonna a campy movie. :csad: But, it is the Green Hornet so... have to give him some respect.

Dunno yet. Does anyone else have any info on this?

The concept put forth about and by Seth Rogen sounds increasingly interesting, but its far from what I think a Green Hornet movie should be handled. I think someone should make a Lone Ranger movie then make a sequel using the actor who played John Reid as Brit Reid,The Green Hornet. and make them much more grittier western and noir films. Im not saying they should do the Batman thing andmake it super dark but I think they should relieve the camp, keep some humor, get Indiana Jones style action, and make them better all around flicks (drama, action, comedy in perfect balance)

Disney is going to make a Lone Ranger. I know what you're thinking... Disney is making it?! Dang it! Its gonna be crap! But, its gonna be written by Pirates of the Carribean's Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio and is to be produced by Pirates of the Carribean's Jerry Bruckheimer. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/101...392/bruckheimer_producing_a_lone_ranger_movie
So with that kind of talent, its bound to be great. As for making Green Hornet a sequel to the Lone Ranger, its a good, clever idea , but I doubt we'll see it like that. Lone Ranger is going to be disney and the Green Hornet is going to be Sony Entertainment. Also, I'm guessing that the Lone Ranger will have a bit more of a serious feel to it, while the Green Hornet will probably, unfortunately have a campy feel to it. Rogen had this to say in an interview with IGN, "The tone of the film will be a "very intense action movie" but also focus on the humorous nature of the relationship between Kato and the titular central character. "A lot of comedy comes from that," he said. "It's kind of a funny dynamic and a funny relationship and no movies really did that except Batman & Robin. No movies did that well."

Okay he's trying to have the same style for the Green Hornet that Batman and Robin had. This can't be good. That's a sad goal for your movie to try to reach.:csad: I hope they do a good job on this.

With any luck, it will kind of have the humor of the Rush Hour movies. I think that is a better movie to base the film on than Batman & Robin is.

Even Rush Hour is a little too much comedy. Lethal Weapon is the best thus far that has grasped buddy comedy and intense action at their best

Yes I have heard of this Lone Ranger movie. The talent is impressive to a degree. The Pirates movies were hitor miss, but thetone and comedy/action./drama balance was very well handled i thought. It would make me think that who had the rights to one would have the rights to the other since of their close connection which many I dont believe even realize they have.

Thats what one would think, but since the characters are independently owned, they don't have to be used together. What I meant with basing it on the rush hour films, is some what copy the way Detective Carter and Inspector Lee interact with each other and adapt it to the Green Hornet and Kato.

Every movie has some comedy in it, it's a given, no matter how serious it is. Green Hornet will have it's funny moments, but for the most part, it'll probably be an action adventure film.

I don't know about ya'll, but I like the part of Rogen's quote about the 'intense action', that's very interesting in it's own right. I also like the latest picture of him with close cropped hair, without the beard. He looks very mature.

I'm not completely worried yet, I'm gonna wait to see exactly what he plans to do with Green Hornet.

BTW, nice manip, The Shadow.

Ty. I'm aware that every movie has some comedy in it, but it Rogen has never played a role like the Green Hornet before (that I'm aware of) he's always played a stupid "comedic" guy. He may have what it takes to be the GH. But, from past roles, its not looking so promising. First of all, the fact that he is playing the Green Hornet, scares the crap out of me. He looks nothing like Van Williams or any other portrayal of GH. Secondly, he's a little on the hefty side. He can loose the weight, but it just doesn't seem like he could pull off the role of an action/super hero. Thirdly, the whole fact that he hopes that the GH will be like Batman & Robin is a bad thing. Batman & Robin is one of the lowest rated superhero films out there and he hopes his will be as good as that. He wants the campy feeling B& R had for GH and fans don't. Personally I would set higher standards but thats just me. I haven't seen much of his acting though, so I won't judge the movie completely............................yet. I still have hope.

COmedy in GH doesnt bother me

Rogen developing it doesnt bother me

Rogen starring in the lead is unconventional but I am very anxious to see if he can do it so it doesnt bother me

Rogen likening it to Batman and Robin bothers the **** out of me. If anything it should be likened to Lethal Weapon not Rush Hour, cause Rush Hour is a comedy with action scenes, while LEthal Weapon is an action movie with comedic scenes

I'm not talking about all of Rush Hour. Just the relationship between Carter (GH) and Lee(Kato)

Did Rogen actually compare it to Batman & Robin the movie or the actual duo of Batman & Robin?

I think i'm the only person in the world who's like, overly excited about this movie.
