Discuss what you think GotG will contribute the the larger MCU, including this movie and any sequels...

Thanos build up/history, including him breaking in and taking the Infinity Gauntlet (maybe the mid-credits scene) I kind of hope Thanos is shadowy in this one too though....and finally decides to join the fight for the first time in Avengers 2

It really will be affected by the reception it gets...if people fall in love with say Starlord, or Rocket Raccoon....they will be back. If people hate it they wont be seen again. But I think the plan right now is this is a single movie franchise, they will pitch it that way to Actors who perhaps didn't want the 6/9 picture deals that the other franchises needed. That's part of the reason why I think GotG is going to be made up of some great actors, they get a superhero to play (which seems big to a lot of actors nowadays)....but get to continue their career normally. It'll be interesting which director they can land first, because Thor definetly got a higher level of actor thanks to KB.

If this movie takes off I see Marvel grabbing every possible big cosmic character and prepping them for the sequel or individual movies.

I actually don't think that Thanos will be the direct big bad in either GotG or Avengers 2. That said, I think it will definitely provide Thanos buildup. It will also provide a better view of those civilizations out there that will start thinking "Earth is ready for a higher level of war"; I strongly suspect the Kree will get an introduction.

If its successful, it may mean further cosmic movies, like Quasar, Nova, or Ms Marvel.

Well if this hits (and is at least fairly well recieved critically) it will prove Marvel can off absolutely anything.

I don't know, they seem to like to sign cast up to as many movies as possible, even if it is unlikely they'll be used in 9 movies.

I really hope they get the rights back to Silver Surfer. That's one character that needs his own movie. And we've already got the perfect villain (Thanos). I actually thought Fox did okay with Norrin in the F4 movie (even thought EVERYTHING ELSE about that movie sucked) and it proved to me that Silver Surfer could really work on the big screen... if he could be that cool in a bad movie, imagine how he could be in a good one!

My best bet is that the Guardians will appear periodically whenever Marvel needs to go Cosmic, but they might not ever get a direct sequel. I figure they'll introduce Nova, let him have his own film, with the Guardians playing cameo roles or supporting roles in later films.

...but Thanos will be established here. Without a doubt.

Made this today...

Looks real cool. Mind if I post it in other places?

I think GOTG will lead directly to:

....ROM THE SPACEKNIGHT.

(If there's any justice in the world.)

And nice work on the combined mural, Kaijunexus.

ROM unfortunately isn't owned by Marvel.

Yep. Which is unfortunately why Rom never made an appearance in any of the cosmic events, despite several other Space-Knights appearing and being mentioned several times.
