Did anybody else get into these films from the 90s? to me they have always been personal classics. Its kinda cheesy and very 90s but for some reason I have always had a fascination with it. I especially loved the costumes from this movie. such a bad ass design, especially The Guyver

I think a remake of The Guyver is much needed

It's been awhile since I saw them. I have both on DVD.....need to pull them out and watch again sometime soon. If I remember right, the first was more serious and the second went more for crazy comedy. Loved the suit design and execution.

I need to get around to watching all of the anime.

I enjoy them, the manga, and the anime. The problem? The manga never really finished its story. So the revamped anime series couldn't do it either really, and it more faithfully adapted the manga.

Saw the movie when I was very young, like 4 or 5, recognized Mark Hamill and thought the suit was cool but the movie felt very creepy to me back then, as opposed to cheesy the last time I tried to watch it several years back.

2 is awesome because it has David Hayter, of Metal Gear Solid fame, and he occasionally lets what would become his Solid Snake voice slip out. For those who don't know he'd also go on to be a cowriter of X2: X-Men United. Still not a great movie though.

The anime was always more interesting to me than the movies, though also creepy, still to this day. Haven't seen the newer anime series. Vivid memories of the scene in the first episode where Guyver breaks both of the other monsters arms in his first fight and blood spews everywhere. "OMG anime is awesome!!"

All the Guyver designs are also rad as hell.

Yeah, I loved them as a kid! Saw Guyver: Dark Hero in a video store that opened up near me and loved the suits and the fights.

A couple of years later I finally saw most of the anime (I think there's a couple of versions of it, don't know which was mine). Even had one of the Manga's, but don't know what happened to it.

Then finally saw Mutronics at the video store and thought "Why the hell is there a Zoanoid on the front?" and watched it. Definitely a bizarre shift in tone between the two of them. I don't remember liking that.

It was a brief fad for me, but I was just thinking about ti a couple of weeks ago, actually. It's been nearly fifteen years since I watched anything from the franchise.

Other way around.

2 definitely had some bits that were unintentionally funny.

Did anybody every get into the anime? Is it any good? I have always been a fan of The Guyver mostly because of his costume but the images I have seen of the anime the costume doesnt really resemble the movie much

^ Just did a quick Wiki check-- There are three different Anime adaptations. A DTV movie, a twelve episode series (this is the one I found on video as a kid, and for the record, thought it was great) and then a twenty-six episode series, which I hear is closer to the Manga.

Oh cool thanks...Maybe ill get the twelve episode series first.

I thought a remake or reboot was on the way when I saw the thread. :(

Sorry Doomsday..you can stare at the image at the top and day dream about what a great remake might be like :)

Hah so I re-watched this last night..It kind of felt like Theodore Rex in the way that it didnt know if it was an action film or a comedy or crime drama.

This opening line though is pretty hilarious.

At the beginning of time, aliens came to the Earth to create the ultimate organic weapon. They created Mankind. By planting a special gene into man they created the ZOANOIDS - Humans who can change at will into super monster soldiers. Eons later, the Zoanoid leader, called the ZOALORD, has awakened formed the Chronos Corporation to further develop the Zoanoid technology for world domination. Among the alien remains, was found the "Unit" - a bio boosted alien armor. Worn by the aliens it serves as an ordinary shield. If the wearer is human it increases his natural powers a hundred fold - he becomes the "GUYVER." But how to activate it remains a mystery. Dr. Tetsu Segawa, a research scientist at Chronos, senses danger if this "unit" is activated by the Zoalord. Now the doctor has stolen it and is on the run.

Loved this movie as a kid, it was kind of in the same category as the swamp thing films for me. Still to this day think the guyver suit was amazing and really ahead of its time.

I wonder if there is anything out there about these films and how they were made and in particular the costume designs.

Watched the manga as a kid and loved them, watched the movies and thought they were okay but lacking compared to the Manga version.

Would love to see a remake/re boot happen though.
