It's an obscure genre, and can't say I've found many people who are into it. Just wondering who on here is a metalhead like myself, and if so who's your favourite band/song etc.

I recently went to see All That Remains play with Misery Signals, Texture and Eternal Lord, all these bands were heavy as **** on stage, and really made the small venue banging

The album of the moment in my life is Element Eighty - The Bear

Obscure in the sense that there isn't as large a following as your mainstream music. Well least not in England. Metal is essentially underground over here

Odd. I think metal is for the most part awful, but metal fans in my town pretty much outnumber everyone else 3/1, and 9/10 local gigs are for metal bands.

I've met people who find it hard to comprehend why I don't like their genre of music. I can absoloutly understand why someone wouldn't like Metal, it is evidently as all music is an acquired taste. There just happens to be an energy in the music that other genres don't possess.

I wish I lived in your town.

I've just noticed another thread dedicated to metal on the community board, so if a mod wants to merge they can.

Although it is referring to two different kinds of metal, mine relates more to modern metal, the other thread is clearly old school Iron Maiden metal.

Blind Guardian count? I like This Will Never End, Lionhart, and Dead Sound of Misery.

Things That Should Not Be by Metallica's also a favorite, due to my fascination with HP Lovecraft's stories.

Nice bit of German Metal there.

Exit Ten, an up and coming metal band from england, the singers a little bit weak, but with a bit of studio engineering this band will sound great.

Forever Never, a band who are located very near to wear I live, they are really melodic but have a nice little edge to them. listen to the song 'As I Lie' on their myspace. It's pretty good, not that heavy but is pretty catchy

I cut my teeth on DragonForce. Then I realized there was more diversity out there. (Not to knock Herman Li, though. Guy's good.)
