Simple thread.

If a marvel superhero or villain was to turn up on this planet and start causing problems, how would you plan on taking them out or neutralizing the threat.

The Key point to this thread is that you only have REAL LIFE technology and materials (so no adamantium, ultimate nullfier etc) at your disposal but you have ultimate prep time as well as location advantage and a big enough team at your disposal.

also try not to use extensive force, i don't want everybody dealt with via nukes.

once a general means of consensus is reached about a verdict, we can move on to another hero or villain of your choice.

I start with everybody's favourite, spiderman.

How would you plan to bring him down?

JMS seems to have him being beat by everyone under the sun, so if we're talking about the current Spider-Man a small child with a spatula may work just as well as the National Guard.

I'd introduce them to the laws of physics and limits on real world human biology.

Shoot Spider-man.....and Just gang the hell up on Magneto....there isn't that much Iron in the Human Bloodstream to throw people around....plus he's old, so a few shots and he'd go down....plus we could arry arry wooden sticks.

Magneto...

Thanks to House of M and its aftermath, Magneto is just an old Jewish man. I can always send him to an retirement home in Israel.

The key to overwhelming a Spider-Man that's not written by Bendis or Millar (read: one that's actually competent) is to overwhelm his spider sense in some way.

Throw some incredibly huge, incredibly dangerous threat at him. His spider sense will focus on this. At the same time, secretly set up a less dangerous (but equally lethal) threat. Even if his spider sense does detect the secondary threat (which it's very likely to do), it still should be primarily focused on the larger threat, leaving you free to attack him with the smaller threat. If he's too distracted by a missile coming at him, he's less likely to notice a gunshot.

or you could just threaten his loved ones.

I'd have Joe Quesada pitch me a "controversial" storyline, and then the character will either have his idenity revealed, will turn out to be gay, or just flatout die. Awesome.

I was thinking something more along the lines of subtle surveillance in order to find out about his loved ones and then threatening them...

or perhaps even revealing his identity to them (of course this was in the past before they realised what it was)

and getting them to slip some sort of sedative into his system via ingesting some sort of drug, spidey's been easily drugged by unsuspecting peeps in the past before, his spider sense isn't always up to speed when it comes to that.

I do like the idea of overwhelming his spidey sense but i don't see any a localised threat that would be big enough to do it. If you are going to send a missle in, then just send a missle in and don't worry about the bullet.

As an off shoot of that ^ idea maybe a decoy victim could be used, seems to work fairly often. Arrange for Spider-man to come across someone being mugged/attacked and while he deals with the culprit the "victim" could try and surprise him with a gas or needle containing a drug.

Or even have the person being attacked in a Van and when Spider-Man goes in to check on them, the doors slam shut and either you can stun him through electricity or use some sort of gas. It would have to be something quick though, cause once those doors shut, Spidey will be able to easily tear through them.

I think your first idea is something that happened in REVELATIONS and it was how norman osbourne arranged to kidnap spider-man

I'll buy it, if it worked in the comics, then it can be duplicated in real life.

As for magneto, the x-men films showed a good way of taking care of him via plastic weaponary. Although not containing cure darts, they could contain plastic rounds, that could be use to not the culprit out.

a padded room could easily be constructed away from a range of potentially useful metal objects and magneto could be neutralised (i never really go why he was a big threat in the comics).

Cool Thread

With Spidey, I'd trap him in a big room, and ignite the oxygen in there and blow the mutha.

Mags I'd take down with an arrow.

next up, is a tough one..

one last one for spidey i'd appeal to his sense of responsibility and ask him not to go around creating a riot which would bea responsible way for a superhuman to behave

Great answer.

Anyway, for Quicksilver, I'd create a field of ice (no friction) and then melt the bugger and electrify it.

icefields take a while to create, besides, his reflexes mean that he would be in and out of it before you realise he's even come close to it.

and how do you plan on holding him while you melt it.

It would be pre planned of course, and he woud be tricked onto running on it. The field would be enclosed in bullet proof glass so he would see it.

Whilst he'd be trapped, by skidding and banging into walls, i'd heat the area up, and then electrify him.

I'd do a diagram, but I don't know how to host images.

Dammit, first post beat me to the joke!

I was going to have Bendis kill them off! It it were Galactus, Bendis would just have Luke Cage punch him and kill him. :cmad:

how would you trick someone into running onto ice who could realise and get out of there within a blink of the eye?

don't you think it would be simply better to take him out while he was sleeping and hence, stationary?

YOU ARE RUINING MY CREATIVE DEATHTRAPS!!!!!!!

Put Luna in the middle of the HUGE ice field, motion sensors to close the doors super fast.

QS slipping at super spped would also be super funny IMO.

Or I could just tie his shoelaces together.
