Besides paying tribute to fans by having that scene where Betty and Bruce discuss the purple shorts, would you have preferred that Bruce wore them in the final battle scene?

I just kind of felt that it would have been cool to start off the reboot with as much tribute to fans as possible, by adding in as many easter eggs as possible, to make up for Ang's Hulk (which I also like)...

Alot of people laughed at that scene when I was there on the 13th. I voted the third choice cuz it didn't matter to me. I think the blue jeans are better looking and more realistic, but the Purple slacks woulda been cool as a tribute to fans , other than the scene you mentioned.

I would have preferd to have that unfunny joke out of the movie. Specially if they were doing the magic stretching jeans anyway. :(

well either way... *shrugs* pants are pants hehe. It didn't really matter. maybe he'll wear em in the next one once the other pair gets totally torn.

I didn't miss them. They were on Ang's Hulk though.

Jeans were cool. Although an imporant factor of the comic book, purple pants would've looked kinda cheesy.

Personally I was always a fan of Peter David's explanation for the Hulk always wearing purple pants:

Banner took a que from one of his idols, Einstien. It's said Einstien had 7 identical outfits, one for each day of the week...so he would never have to waste time or energy thinking about what to wear.

Of course why Banner chose that outfit to have purple pants, was never really discussed.

Ross: "Get some men down there, and tell them to look for a guy wearing PURPLE PANTS at that factory!!"

I actually liked it in the tv show when hulk had white trousers on, because it provided that link to Banner.

The jeans look better. That, and Hulk is supposed to look different from Banner. The purple pants are a dead giveaway, whereas the jeans leave his identity a mystery to characters in the movie who don't know who his alter ego is.

I was happy they left them out. I think it was sort of a ' **** you' to the Ang Lee Hulk, which went OUT OF IT'S WAY to include the purple shorts. It's been a while, but from what I remember, the Hulk had on purple shorts for every scene we was present in that movie. I remember thinking it was lame that non-hulk Eric Bana was captured and restrained wearing the purple shorts. He looked like a fool.

Norton is awesome. He takes one look at those purple shorts:

" I'll take my chances."

I loved that scene. It was like he was saying 'We don't need to try that hard, people don't need purple shorts to know I'm the Hulk and therefore badass.'

I loved this movie. It was great.

They didn't do magic stretching jeans. His jeans were ripped. Not quite like his shirt, but he didn't gain as much mass in his legs, as his upper body. He only grew a few (maybe 3?) feet. His jeans didn't need to completely explode.

I think Ang Lee's Hulk only wore purple shorts in one of his four appearances.

What's interesting about the jeans is not that they stretched around his legs - that's necessary to avoid having a naked Hulk - it's that they grew longer somehow.

But it's not something that really matters.

i thought the hulk looked his best at the very end of the movie. when he came out of the hole, wearing black jeans and ripped shirt, he4 looked perfect! wold of liked purple for comic perfection, but the blue and black ripped jeans were good enough.

Thought just ran through my head...would Banner's Hulk get bigger as he transformed?

while i was watching the movie for the third time yesterday, i noticed at the final battle when hulk gets thrown thru the bus and hes staggering on the floor, it shows him from behind and his back jean pockets are proportioned to his body lol i found that funny that the jeans pockets grew bigger, if they were on banner theyd be twice as big.. im not one of those nitpickes it was just funny to me.. i could care less about the jeans thing..

They got the look just right; they took their visual cues from Savage Hulk and showed enough sense not to undo all that hard work by putting him in some absurd purple pants.

I mean, what normal person wears purple pants nowadays (hence the joke in the movie)

The jeans worked just fine.
