Captain Marvel and Xavier were nerfed a bit to suit the story IMO but I hope at least Reed and Captain Carter knew how f***ed they were once Wanda made Black Bolt's mouth disappear. If they had run away at that point who coulda blamed them?

I was bummed out to see Richard's and Black Bolt defeated so quickly while Captain Carter and Captain Marvel put up a much more serious fight. I also question why Wanda just didn't kill all of them so easily.

So we could get some action scenes lol

I kinda wish Reed would have been able to hold her in place by wrapping himself around her before being shredded to pieces. But what we got was just terryfing, so I'm ok with it. They were definitely taken by surprised and underestimated her. Carter and Marvel lasted as long as they did because they teamed up but agreed, had Wanda wanted, she could have easily taken them out.

I also think Xavier could have put on more of a fight, perhaps use Wanda's own memories as a way to sudue or shut her down entirely. In the end Wanda was much more powerful.

That was a beautifully constructed scene though - the white and red contrasting with the rubble and the door in the middle.

    For real Driz!

So much for Reed being the smartest man in the world. Any one with half a brain would’ve ran to get the Phoenix Force or something to get Wanda’s scary ass.

Reed was also the dumbest man in the room in that moment by giving away the ace up their sleeve by flat out telling Wanda what Black Bolt was capable of. Granted, she could have easily discovered that on her own by getting in their heads but come on, Richards. Doom would be laughing at you right now.

Should have been in the movie imo. Plus to act as indirect promotion for Wakanda Forever.

We aren't going to see any of those siX Illuminati members (in 616) anytime soon.
    Who Is that?

if they were restricted from using up coming characters

that just makes me suspect even more that this Mr. Fantastic was a one and done, cameo
(unless their just saying it was a scheduling conflict, cause they were already to busy shooting their scenes for the other movie)

I think they are saving an actual Mr. Fantastic fight for the reboot.

While Black Bolt was killed easily i think for the shock value and he couldn't do much other than physically fight the Scarlet Witch with his fists.

I think the two ladies (since they are done in the 616 for good) were given more fighting chance as we won't likely see them in the prime universe.

The thing is 616 Captain Marvel traded blows with Thanos, she should be alive under that ruble magically held down. Now Captain Carter, without the supernatural durability survied as long as she did because Captain Marvel was still on the battlefield and the Scarlet Witch had to respect the greater threat.

It was cool to see them, I guess. And the astral plane scene with Xavier was gorgeous and terrifying all at the same time. Wish that fight had been a lot longer. Overall, though, the whole sequence reeked of studio-mandated fan-service. It ground the narrative to a halt. Would have been better to just have Mordo take Strange prisoner and focus on the fact that there WAS another option to defeat Thanos than the one MCU Strange took, and how that ought to effect him and his perception of how much of a threat he really is.

I enjoyed it for the cool easter egg it was, loved Captain Carter especially but that might just be me loving HA having a cool new character in the MCU, she was the best thing about What If for me. It was also nice to a comic/cartoon version of Prof X and his scene was really well done, Krasinski as Mr Fantastic was great to see and his suit looked great, he just came across a little dumb rather than the "worlds greatest mind" giving the bad guy an easy W against two of the members. I think he will be fine with a better script and certainly had the gravitas to play the character. The others were ok just a little underutilized.

I liked the scene as for me it got the film going that was sort of plodding up to that point but it was just a shame it was so short and they were dispatched so quickly, more chumps than champions. It feels like another potential "Ralph Bohner" moment though were it might not be anything worth getting excited over or lead to anything significant, we might not even see these actors in these roles, its hard to tell at the moment. It was good but like the rest of the film was a little messy and needed expanding on.

Speaking of the Illuminati, I was disappointed that all were from Earth 838. I initially thought that they were characters from other universes that came together which i think would have been a more interesting concept, especially if Strange joined the group in future films as the 616 representative but obviously thats not the direction they took

It seemed fairly clear to me: Wanda was extremely powerful, but not infinitely so. Reality warping attacks like she used on Black Bolt and Reed were not something she could just casually riffle off while under fire and defending herself. Once the fight actually started, she needed to actually fight, and its not like either Peggy or Monica were giving her a ton of time to stand still and concentrate. Which is consistent with pretty much every other fight in the movie: Wanda was definitely juiced up beyond her normal limit ( which is already extremely high, note! ), but she wasn't Dormammu. Consider that the group shield of Kamar-Taj was something that she simply couldn't overpower; she had to do a telepathic attack, and seek out the weakest most vulnerable mind to hit with it.

That was something I noticed, yes. All the other members who fought Wanda were very obviously killed, whereas Monica just had a giant statue slammed down on her. Obviously, we don't know Monica's exact powers on that world; maybe she doesn't have the same durability as Carol. However, in a fight full of "Ouch, they dead", her being the only one without an obvious kill shot stuck out. I would not be surprised in the slightest if she survived, she just only came to later, after all relevant parties had left the dimension.

I assume Marvel wanted to keep their options open since the Illuminati were just canon fodder for Wanda in this movie, so they kept them all in the same earth/universe.

also the plot kinda hinged on Chavez being the only one who can travel across universes... so if they made it seem like multiverses travel was a causal thing there, it wouldn't make since for her to continue to chase Chavez

tho, clearing they were aware of interdimensional travel and were studying other universes, so, idk

The appearance of Mr Fantastic was underwhelming for sure, but I blame that more on the direction and writing. The Krasinski I saw in Quiet Place could do a very good job of portraying Reed Richards.

Also, I believe they overpowered Wanda for the sake of the movie. This was not the person who wasn't able to contain an explosion in CA:CW.

Eh, the entire 818 universe was portrayed as pretty arrogant with the exception of Christine. I'm sure that the 616 Richards will be warmer as a character, whether he's played by Krasinski or not. But man, Feige better hide if they cast anyone besides Kraskinski. They've gone too far now.
