The Inbetweeners

i loved how the midget had threatened simon and he had no idea who he was, funny as hell:up:

Yeah, the look on Simon's face was a picture, he was sooo confused :)

I didn't know there was a thread for this. Big ...

The show is absolute quality!!:up:

BTW, Will's mum is gorgeous!

Thanx Batarang, I searched the threads for a "Inbetweeners" forum but couldn't find one so I thought what the hell why don't I create one :) and yeah Will's mum is hott!! ;)

"Softly softly, catchy monkey" lol

What you know Spanish?! :p lol

"Will's Birthday"

It's Will's birthday, and he's planning a suitably grown-up dinner, with a few close friends, and any girls they can persuade to come. Unfortunately, Will's party clashes with a far more popular one, and his friends have to choose between them. They end up breaking into the rival party, where Simon's French 'greasy' exchange student Patrice proves that even he is more popular than them.

Hey Lord V, Is Wills mum the dodgy goverment woman in Primeval??

I love how the main characters are slightly unlikeable, and yet you love em all the same.

Yup, reminds me of me and my mates from school...not a great thing to admit to I know...lol

Yeah I know that, back at school we thought we was sooo cool, but looking back at old pics and chatting to old friends and people from school I was actually an annoying lil geek, but loveable of course lol

"How much Lego can you stick up your bum?" hehe!

Oh Neil never change, how he comes out with things like that makes me smile, he is defo on another planet lol

I love Jay. I never knew there were so many words for that area of the female anatomy.

Another great ep, gotta love Will's stressed out face and his little rants he goes on, also good to see Charlotte is talking to Will again, loved the MSN bit with all the smiles, winks and tongues and then "Charlotte has left the chat..." part was sooo funny, once again reminds me of my life (sad I know) but it's just perfect how they know what most teenagers go thru or what some of us have already been thru, it's just crazy to see something you did or a situation you went thru and then see it on tv years later is madness lol

Yes my favorite word this week was Clunge..Hahaha. I half expected Will to walk in on Patrice giving it to his mum, but he didnt...

Haven't seen this weeks episode yet, but I agree that their portrayal of teenage life is very accurate. What I like about it is they focus on the group that is neither the geeks or the jocks, but those inbetween(no pun intended) who are just in the middle.

I absolutely love the show, and the humour is spot on. It never feels cliche'd, forced or cheesy.

IMO, it far surpasses the current series of Skins.

I agree. The propblem with Skins is it feels like its written by someone who thinks thats how teenagers act whereas this show feels so real...

"Night Out In London"

In a desperate attempt at reinvention, Will decides that the lads should be cool, and become "the boys who go to clubs". Simon's not so sure, but when Carli thinks it's cool he immediately changes his mind. Simon drives them up to the bright lights of the West End, where they encounter all the characters of a great night out: aggressive bouncers, tramps and angry bus passengers.

I'd never heard of this show but when I saw this thread I decided to check it out on line. Eww ... are there any grown ups in G.B.? I also checked out Skins based on a thread here and hated that one as well. I seriously feel sorry for kids growing up in the U.K. if this is the crap they get to watch. I watched about five minutes and couldn't stomach any more. There must have been 20 forms of the f word used, as well as other gross stuff.

A long time ago an English guy on here told me that he didn't understand Americans fascination with England and that we all had it wrong. It wasn't the jolly old 'pip pip, cheerio,' England that we thought it was, it was an England filled with under educated low lifes, pregnant teens and tons of people on the dole. I didn't want to believe him, but now I've seen enough proof that he's right. :(

Skins tries to hard

To be fair Skins and The Inbetweeners are both late night shows on the same television channel which is E4/C4 which basically has a goverment mandate to show the kind of stuff the other mainstream networks don't which means they use it to push the boundaries and cause controversy.

I wouldn't take either of those shows as an autobiographical slice of British teen life it would be like saying High School Musical or some teen show like One Tree Hill is exactly like American teens life.

It's a comedy, not a documentary.

I understand, but several of you said how realistic it is. :( I did re-read my comment though and it did sound harsh, so, sorry.

Thanks for explaining that. It's weird to hear that the government madates stuff like that.

back in the late 70s/early 80s before satellite television tv networks needed goverment approval to broadcast.

Channel 4 is weird because its publicly owned (public television) but commercially self-funded unlike the BBC. It was created to break the BBC and ITVs duopoly on the audience as we only had 3 channels back then compared to the hundreds we have today.

their mandate is

"The public service remit for Channel 4 is the provision of a broad range of high quality and diverse programming which, in particular:
  • demonstrates innovation, experiment and creativity in the form and content of programmes;
  • appeals to the tastes and interests of a culturally diverse society;
  • makes a significant contribution to meeting the need for the licensed public service channels to include programmes of an educational nature and other programmes of educative value; and
  • exhibits a distinctive character."
I don't believe you need a goverment mandate anymore because if you did Channel 5's would be to show Nazi Shark CSI porn starring action movies stars like Van Damme, Norris, Segal ect

I sometimes forget that your tv is so tied in with your government. Don't you guys have to all pay some sort of t.v. licensing fee/tax or something?
