lol, it's amusing when people use this argument.
It's absurd.

You don't have to have animated realistic dinosaurs to know that the ones in Jurassic Park look more real than the ones in Land of the Lost.

You don't have to be as good at basketball as Michael Jordan is to know that he's a better player than Timmy McStevenson.

You don't have to be a good actor to know that Tara Reid is a bad actress and that Al Pacino is a good actor.

You don't have to have written and directed an exciting Space Opera to know that Star Wars is more visually exciting than 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Furthermore, people have done their own designs in cases like this before, just for fun.

I'm thinking of, back before The Fantastic Four came out...true fans of the Thing thought it was lame that the movie Thing had no big ape unibrow.
So, I can't remember who, made this:

TheRealThingCostume.jpg

Which looks SO much better than this:

140x105.jpg

But, it's irrelevant.
The filmmakers aren't going to use someone else's design, and a fan's superior design is not going to make the movie version look better....so, a really pointless thing to say.

They already explained why they couldn't use the big brow on film. They tried it and it shadowed his eyes too much and would have forced them to use too much light. They wanted his eyes to stand out.

Ang Hulk's body and animation looks way better (judging from that brief Hulk seen in the preview) and more photoreal.

Ang Hulk's main problem was that they were so worried about humanizing him that they overdid it and gave him a dopey face instead of the effing pissed off monster face that the Hulk must have.
Ang actually said "Don't make him look like a monster or an ape!"
That's what the Hulk looks like. :o

The main problem with the new Hulk so far is the motion. His walk was terrible and his rage flex looked awkwardly unreal in it's exaggeration...how his hands flay out before he makes fists.

Abomination looks atrocious like a boss from Resident Evil 4, only with an inferior design (I hate his tiny head. Looks like Rob Liefeld was involved. :o)
It doesn't help that his face looks so much like the really sub par mutants in "I Am Legend". :o

What part of "...there are no final f/x shots in the trailer..." do you not understand?

Of course you can only go by what you've seen.
I've only seen the preview, not the finished movie, so I commented on the preview.

Hahaha, the unfinished CGI in that trailer looks better than Ang Lee's Hulk.

I can understand some people having an emotional attachment to Ang's Hulk, but even in 2003, it looked pretty f'ing bad in a good number of scenes. There was once or twice where the '03 Hulk looked good, and even then his skin was too smooth... looked like soft green rubber rather than skin.

Now sure, the unfinished trailer CGI has Hulk's skin looking waaaaay too tight, but it still looks like skin (shiny skin) drawn tightly over muscle.

Arguing that the '03 CGI looked better is purely delusional. Even when compared to the unfinished product in the trailer.

Well you're comparing a finished product to one still in development. Still I think the design is spot on in this Hulk and once the F/X are finished it's clearly gonna blow away the look of the last film where every other reviewer called him Shrek.

I just don't see how anyone can say the 2003 CGI is superior to the pic below which is not final. It's not even close IMO.

Smooth movement without looking bouncy like the Ang Hulk. The skin isn't overly bright, which made Ang's Hulk look worse the darker the setting became. And it looks like skin despite being very tightly drawn over the muscle.

Ang's Hulk was semi-decent for '03. In a few close-ups where the FX department poured into detail, Ang's Hulk actually looked good... despite having bright skin.

But these newer FX are simply better. And I can't wrap my head around how some people are trying to claim likewise. To do so is like looking at the sky and saying it's brown. Basic observation shows that this Hulk looks more realistic.

As to how he moves, I once again see no problem. Especially compared to the way Ang's Hulk kinda bounced in his movements when moving at any speed faster than a walk.

Look at the striations and muscle movement in the chest when he flexes in that pic above. Amazing. Look at the hair and how it moves. The muscularity, the veins, etc...I'd say that pic above is probably the closest to a finished shot in the trailer of The Hulk. When he emerges from underground he'll surely be dirtied up. The Abom in that closeup was damn near perfect as far as how real it looked. Then look again and you can see his pants behind his back on the right flinging around all torn up.

Some people just go by their memory for comparison which is always inaccurate. The physics and physiognomy have been improved immensely. I mean simply look at how the hair moves. It moves realistically with the gravity of sweat. The hair on Ang's Hulk moved very generically.

And his right arm (our left) how it effects the smoke.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this but Dark B should know the fx are not done yet?

Right arm now? He he.

you do know that when the dvd comes out and if it looks the same i will get you? :)

I promise you it will not look the same. I probably should have explained it different intead of using the term flawless or perfect but I figured people would understand I meant they don't want to release it until they feel it's good enough to show people. There's plenty of time left to continue working on it and polish it up nicely. It'll never be perfect.

Not clever.

I asked him because, I guess if only gay men and straight women notice nipples, then he doesn't see anything peculiar about this Batman suit:
Don't bring up his hopes, AD:cwink:.

But seriously Wilhelm, you know that's a pathetic arguement. You're comparing the new Hulk having huge nipples to the travesty that is Batman and Robin!?! Underwear over your pants is bad enough, but nipples on your COSTUME!?! That is *****ing atrocious. I thought it was understood between civilized nerds to never speak of the incident again, much less post a pic!!! Shame on you.

I agree. I mean seriously... does no one else see this? Is it not blatantly obvious? This looks remarkable. The CG from HULK was pure cheese, I thought. Looked like a flippin' video game.

People are that bored that we're now bickering about Hulk nipples. Good God people. Hmmmmmmm I wonder if my local "lotions and lace" sell Hulk nipples in a set with the Hulk hands. I may be on to something. :)

I see the Leader's reflection in one of Hulk's glistening nipples. :o

It's not pointless. People like to express their opinions. It's a huge part of what message boards are for.
You say, "I like PIZZA!"
And someone else says, "Me too!"
And you go, "Cool!"
And then someone else says, "PIZZA is gross."
And you go, "WHAT?!?"

If expressing your opinion is pointless because you can't make someone else share your opinion, then it's no more pointless than telling a bunch of people who want to state their opinion, that stating their opinion is pointless. :o

HAHA

People who don't think the 2003 Hulk looks real, or at least more real than these unfinished effects are seriously deluded. Don't let your opinion on the movie cloud your judgement. The movie sucked, the effects didn't.
