The Incredible Hulk Hype Meter - How hyped are you?

How excited are you for this movie?

  • It looks awful. I won't go anywhere near a theater playing it.

  • I'm not too hopeful. Not going to go out of my way to see it.

  • It will probably be OK. I'll get around to seeing it once the crowds die down.

  • I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be checking it out opening weekend, probably.

  • My head is about to explode!! I'll be there opening day with ticket in hand!

Well then, say someting different like,

Beer, helping ughly people have sex since 1862 :oldrazz:

OK here goes:

So anyone seen the movie Golden Compass? Is it any good.

*grumbling thinking it would be nice if we had something to discuss regarding the Hulk*

isn't the company that's doing the Hulk CGI the one that did CGI for that movie?

Well that's not very reassuring is it. :bh:

Depends. They also did Alvin and the Chimpunks which CGI looks meh. But they also did Aslan (sp?) for Narnia which I thought was a terrible movie, but Aslan looked pretty top notch.

I think it all depends on what film makers want, where they push the teams, what artistic style they want for which characters.

I am the type of person who doesn't think "Man WETA or ILM is amazing!" because... well.. given the wrong direction or lack of time, they'd suck just as hard.

Examples:

Let's look at the original Hulk, ILM's attention to detail was amazing, pores on the skin etc close up... but far away Hulk's skin started to look rubbery as if he were a blob instead of a mass of muscle.

I believe I saw in the credits of X-3 WETA was involved, yet the effects in that movie blew in my opinion. I liked the movie unlike alot of people, but the ice blast as well as the Prof. and everyone else blowing up was disgusting.

I don't care if Hulk looks so realistic I can touch him, I care more if he looks, believeable, and if he looks STRONG, the concept art has blown me away. If it looks like that on screen, I'll be a happy man.

To add to Frostbite, it also depends on what part if the movie was bad. Was it the CGI, did it look fake? Or was it the story? If its the story well its not Rhythm & Hues fault now is it. They can sit back and say well at least we did our job as best as we could but you it's not our fault the movie blows.

Maybe we can ask and find out from the same guys that said the movie was bad how they thought the CGI was irregardless of the story. Pick their brains and find out what was bad about the movie.

yeah it's weird how little has happened with this flick... there will probably be a teaser during the superbowl.

I like X-3 as well.

I feel the same way, as long as he looks realistic I'll be happy.

AD said "I heard GC was awful from a few friends." I guess who the artist are that are working on the project as well. I hope we got the good ones.

I thought from what I've seen the CG looked okay. It's been 50/50 for me. The bears look great, and some of the animals nice, the created city also looked very nice, but when it came to people flying around in the trailers I've seen it was like BLECH.

But I've never seen any of it on the big screen, so I wouldn't really know for sure.

I hate to disagree, but I think this movie is going to be on the down-low for a very long time, with little to no hype until it's here (if even then.) With how the first one bombed, I am thinking they are looking for sleeper hit with word of mouth to spread the good news that it's "better than the last" etc.

Well maybe this is why it's taking so long to get any images. I hope its worth our wait.

well I don't think marvel can afford to gamble on it being a sleeper hit... if there is one thing marvel has learned is that marketing a film properly is half the battle.

very very true. take ghost rider for example. it was hyped well, got movie goers into seats. it was only then we worked out it was crap-o-rama
:bh:

The highlights of the movie was the CGI and THAT is reassuring being that the same company is doing TIH.

WHAT?????????

I'll tell you why there is no hype at this time for "The Incredible Hulk". First and foremost I don't blame anyone personally, but I blame everyone that has whined and had virtual tantrums that have gotten back to Marvel in the sense of the leaked script from May 2007. I myself am guilty of just sharing it with people, but have never posted the script itself. Marvel is being very guarded about the movie because of the script and what happened with Universal's "American Gangster" being released 8 days on bootleg dvd damaging its boxoffice numbers. I personally was contacted by Marvel regarding the script. Here's part of the email:

My name is Rob Grosser and I am an independent security consultant working for Marvel. I have worked as a security consultant for Toy Biz/ Marvel since 1990. I am currently conducting an investigation for Marvel regarding the dissemination of confidential, non-public information concerning the release of the Hulk Script. The executives at Marvel are extremely upset regarding the release of this information and they have instructed me to find the source of this confidential information. I want to accomplish this in a quiet manner. I do not want to see a lot of people get fired or incarcerated (I am sure you do not want to see this as well) and that will surely happen if I do not find the source. However I am very confident that through your efforts and mine, we will be able to work through this together. As you are aware, I have one of the scripts that you sent me (You go by the name of “Emerald Beast’ on SuperHero Hype).

This is why they are so slow to release stuff. The blurry poster shot was done illegally as has affected Marvel's marketing. Please stop. We now have to wait until Marvel is ready to release stuff. I spoke to him on the phone and he has told me the movie has wrapped, so please be patient. Nuff said.

Wowzer, this is quite a sticky situation. The fans in their never ending quest for knowledge on movies they want to see have inadvertantly post-poned their inevitible knowledge of the film.

Hope you guys can find the source of the leaked script quietly and peacefully. I'd hate to see anyone get in trouble for this.

Oh so they have been waiting on the release of any marketing because the fans are clinging to anything they can get out of their desperation. I guess they feel that making us wait longer will help the situation. :whatever:

I don't buy it.
