Man robs bank dressed as Incredible Hulk

A man disguised in an Incredible Hulk mask robbed a western New York bank this week. according to TV station WIVB.

Hamburg police are searching for the suspect who held up a Northwest Savings branch on Jan. 9 with a handgun rather than a display of rage and superhuman strength favored by the neon green comic book character.

A security camera photo released by cops shows the villain standing at the counter. He's a white man in his 20s wearing a brown jacket with a shearling collar, faded blue jeans and a long gold or silver chain, according to a statement.

The man dressed like Dr. Bruce Banner's radioactive alter ego ran from the bank on foot and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

There's been a spate of robberies recently by thieves masked to look like children's comic book heroes and cartoon characters, such as a man in Spider-man outfit who robbed a Maryland bank. A hooligan in a full-body Gumby costume had less success trying to rob a store, because a clerk didn't believe the thief was serious.

First he's selling drugs, now he's robbing banks? We need to have an intervention with him.

Wait a second. That's why I woke up and had a ton of cash in my coat pocket...

Teller...no touch alarm!! Don't be hero...money insured...Hulk rob only from bank!! Keep head down, no one hurt!! Hurry fill bag....!!!

I know this is the wrong thing to focus on, but "children's comic book heroes"? How do people still think that way? Did they not hear about The Dark Knight or Watchmen?

Next, he'll be eating people and having one night stands with Princess Zarda...

Tell me you wouldn't pay to see that. I'd give the guy a twenty just for the effort.

Because comics are for kids unless you're into comics. Even with popular movies out there...the movies are popular, but comics are still just comics.

:O

Now what would be classic would be if Hulk robbed a bank but he was wearing a V mask to hide his identity.

Yeah, I can see that, but it still seems... I don't know, disappointing I guess? Kind of like how some people see animation and video games as just for kids, it just baffles me that some people write off an entire medium as for specific age groups, and therefore inferior to live-action films and TV.

Despite the popularity of the movies....it'll probably always be that way, justified or not. Just like a comic fan geek at school isn't suddenly considered 'cool' or what have you if an Iron Man movie makes a gazillion dollars. You'll always have your 'mature' comics and all, so I don't see it as a big deal. The people who make the still take see it the right way. What disappoints me is that non-CG animation isn't taken nearly as seriously/adult as the anime industry in Japan...because especially with comic-characters, there are things that regular animation can do spectacularly but has unfortunately been relegated to and budgeted as "kids' stuff".

From here on in...all comic-character masks will require registration when purchased, for starters.

You'd think that there haven't been dozens of "Pow! bang! Splat! Comics aren't just for kids anymore" newpaper stories over the years. :cmad:

Yeah, normally I can ignore it, I dunno why I had a little outburst earlier. But I agree with your point about animation, as I think with the right people behind it any piece of animation can be just as emotional as a live-action piece, and the visual possibilities of it are literally endless, and that its somewhat depressing that its seen as nothing more than, like you say, "kids stuff".

I wonder if he asked the teller "please don't make me angry, you wouldn't like it when I'm angry"

I wonder if he told the teller the reason he was robbing is because he needs a new wardrobe due to all those transformations.
