The Interview- Rogen and Franco Try to Assassinate Kim Jong Un

And making a movie depicting his assassination in a comedic light doesn't exactly make us look like good guys.

Not to say that it's comparable to him torturing his own people. But for the pride that Americans take in being the bigger people in hostile situations, this doesn't help to back that up.

Freedom of speech yet alone art?

Technically speaking, we gave the rest of the world The Human Centipede. This is why those types of countries are ****. No sense of humor, among many things.

You guys don't understand. Countless North Koreans have been killed or imprisoned for decades because of the Kim family! Citizens have been brainwashed since they were kids to worship The Great Ruler and every single thing they do is controlled or under watch by government officials. Even the smallest mistake would get them or their families executed or sent away to be tortured at a concentration camp.

Activists to Drop 'Interview' DVDs Over North Korea Via Balloon

So yeah, to you its just a movie, but introduce it to 25 million people held captive and everything they've been taught since they were young about their self-proclaimed God gets destroyed and Kim's iron fist over his people slowly loosens! So ironically, a comedy film of all things has become one of the most important steps in the global human rights movement!

They're also gonna need to drop some DVD players via balloon, ya know.

The Kim dynasty has to be the some of the most loathsome humans who ever lived. Up there with Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. That makes them fair game.

But this movie going by the various trailers is a comedy, the assassins are a bunch of clowns. This really isn't designed to incite anyone.

I also don't see how North Korea would manage to attack anyone in America. That takes a rather large network, and if any attack could be linked back to Pyongyang, it would result in serious repercussions. It's a ridiculous fear.

My guess is, the Chinese hackers the North Koreans hired found something very bad in those emails they haven't released and are blackmailing someone important.

What did Team America make us look like?

I mean...it's a freaking movie. It's not like the American government funded it.

Despite getting death threats, I do appreciate Seth Rogan's "Fu** you!" mentality towards North Korea.

That's a good point, but I'm sure the pirates over there already have them to give / sell although I must say, it would be a b*tch to smuggle all out.

I don't disagree with your point in of itself, Boom, but at the same time that's not what is driving Sony's thinking in pulling this movie. They don't care about tastefulness or "doing the right thing" or the possibility that theaters will be attacked (which btw they wouldn't be -- that's a bunch of fearmongering): they care about protecting the folks at the top and their profits. They want the leaks to stop and so they're bowing to the hackers.

Also a fair point.

We've had movies where the American president is assassinated or made to look quite villainous. But those are usually spy thriller type things. You can call them commentary on post-9/11 America or what not, but they are still works of fiction. Make believe.

This is a farsical comedy. It's not mean to be taken seriously.

Making a movie about assassinating a living world leader is. Id feel the same way if I learned this was being done elsewhere with Obama as the target of the assassination plotline. Im pretty sure most people in the US who are acting all outraged about this wouldnt be too happy and thinking "its just fun" if said movie was made in a foreign country about a US president. Just IMO, but I think theres alot of hypocrisy, especially in the media in regards to this

There is no hypocrisy. There is no comparison between Kim ****ing Jong Un and Obama.

Obama never murdered his Uncle with hungry dogs.

Obama never executed his ex girlfriend by firing squad

Obama never executed people for reading Bibles or watching South Korean movies.

Kim Jong Un deserves all the **** he is getting. The guy deserves to have a movie where [BLACKOUT]His head gets blown up in a fireball[/BLACKOUT]. He deserves more actually. And when he dies he will get more. He will be ridiculed forever.

He deserves parodies like this. He deserves satire like this. The guy is evil. The guy is a criminal. Obama won't deserve Anything remotely like this.

That is comparing apples to oranges, dog.

It wasn't worth the risk.

1) Sony gives NK the middle finger and releases the film

2) A couple theaters are bombed killing hundreds of people

3) The public demands justice. Some blame Sony, others blame NK

4) America enforces strict sanctions on NK (military action is out since NK has nukes)

5) Millions of NK starve as a result of the sanctions but at least Sony stuck to their guns, amiright?

?? we had movies about taking out our President and no one batted a eye about it and this upsets you?

Spot On.

North Koreans are loyal to Kim just as Muslim extremists are to Muhammad and Allah. There's no doubt in my mind an attack in the theaters would've happened had it been released.

I'd like to know how, though. Are there that many Kim loyalists currently inside the US to stage a terrorist attack?

The crazy thing about this whole situation is that Kim Jong Un is sitting there thinking "Holy s***, people are actually afraid that we'll do something?"

wouldn't surprised me if they were

After what happened with Dark Knight Rises, by this logic, no one should risk going to the movie theaters at all. There is virtually nothing stopping some psycho terrorist from attack a theater like two years ago if they really wanted to. Theaters don't have metal detectors.

Well, some people are acting like North Korea is Hydra.

:o

More like comparing a poison apple with a razor blade inside to an orange that has a bit of a loss in flavor.. :o

:hehe:

North Korea doesn't have the means to bomb American movie theaters. Even if they did, what would the fallout of that be?

It's just insane to give in to these ridiculous threats.
