Looks nice. Where is that, Freshman?
Not exactly sure. It came from a RDJ-fan account on Instagram
Wang Xuequi officially cast as Dr Wu. Filming will continue in Beijing Mondey. New pics showcasing Xuequi's role
I hear they're claiming he's still 'Radioactive man' despite the name change. That and he's supposed to be another minor villain. I'm not so sure, but then again, they may be setting up for Masters of Evil. Who knows.
I hope he's Radioactive Man...
No, there's no longer any "official" mention of Chen Lu or his alias Radioactive Man.
What's with Tony in surgery?Didn't they take care of all his health woes in IM2?
I'm not saying there is any official mention of it. I meant that people are still spreading the rumour despite the character having a different name. Whether it's true or not, I don't know.
Maybe they don't want to use Chen Lu because a) he's a villain again, and if they had a problem with Mandarin as a Chinese villain, then how are they going to suddenly accept Radioactive Man as a Chinese villain; and b) Edgar Wright is still probably not ready with Ant-Man for them to film any post credit scene with an Ant-Man actor confronting Chen Lu. Thinking Wright might be even remotely ready is wishful thinking.
"Dr. Wu" is not a villain at all. RorMachine over at That Other Website is getting confused and spreading mass disinfo about that; the actual Deadline article by Nikki (linked earlier) doesn't say anything at all about "Dr. Wu" being a villain; only that Wang Xuequi's role is not a huge part.
By all appearances in the photos, his role in the movie is just to perform some kind of surgery on Tony; and it's a safe bet that it's the surgery to implant Extremis in Stark.
By the way --- time to start debunking some of would-be oracle Roger Wardell's "insider" info on Marvel movies from his Twitter account:
....that's because Chen Lu/Radioactive Man has now officially been debunked in IM3. Next.
James Badge Dale, who plays Eric Savin (Coldblood) in IM3, shoots this down point blank: Ben Kingsley (The Mandarin) is the mouthpiece. Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian) is the brain. I’m the muscle.
I don't think anyone actually believes Wardell's junk. It's mainly been the butt of jokes.
oh hey! i missed that quotation. do you have a link?
Yeah, I do. But I can't link it.
It's on CBM, so of course it can't be linked. But type in **************.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=70739 and you should find it. Or just look up Iron Man on that site.
Depends on what JBD meant by Mandarin being the "mouthpiece," with Killian as the "brains." Generally speaking, a "mouthpiece" is the guy who *looks* like your adversary, when it's actually the "brains" behind the outfit who's pulling the strings.
In other words, from Dale's comment, it sounds like Killian is pulling the strings on Mandarin, not vice versa.
Trailers can be misleading...
'Brains' can be the genius technician or specialist, not necessarily 'the leader'...
Or more likely, all those rumors were complete bunk in the first place.
Thanks! interesting. Quite a different concept for Killian (as well as Mandarin). I'm not worried. MCU has my complete trust.
I imagine it's really just a minor speaking role. Nothing to get too excited about.
I think by "mouthpiece" it's clear that he's the leader that doesn't get his hands dirty. He's definitely the lead villain, though.
Other than that, Roger is full of shapoopies.
i can't see mandarin not being the "big bad". perhaps he is giving killian the resources, who in turn is the benefactor of coldblood.
Pearce already said his role is very small, "cameo stuff". Even without that I wouldn't read too much into an off-the-cuff comment from Dale.
The brains (Killian) outfits the mouthpiece (Mandarin) with tech that is used to arm the muscle (Savin).
This could be Extremis tech, giving Savin the ability to take over the Mk47 and/or steal the War Machine/Iron Patriot suit. Or, Savin could steal that suit under totally normal circumstances, and Mandarin's powers could stem from the Killian-supplied Extremis tech, as opposed to the mystical origins of the 10 rings.
There's that. No offense to JBD, but I don't see him as being particularly in the know about this, or even having a big enough role to see the whole picture. But, if he's right, there's no other definition for "mouthpiece" than "spokesman," as in Mandarin is the spokesman for Killian/AIM, and is knowingly or unknowingly doing their dirty work.
Frankly, the MCU Mandarin doesn't even strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed. He seems to be modeled off a professional anarchist/terrorist like Osama, Che Guevara, or Carlos the Jackal, and all those guys (including OBL) were little more than apolitical mercenaries masquerading as idealists with a cause. And that seems to be exactly the route they're taking with Mandy.
