The Island

you mean texas chainsaw massacre?

Um...never seen it..well parts of it, but not interested in it. The only guy I am interested in seeing kill people on screen is jason voorhees. I guess freddy too, but his movies are probably more dated than F13 movies.

Amiytiville horror remake should have been longer with more story and character development. And more scary. Didn't scare me but it kept my interest anyway.

"The Island" was alright. It was a pretty original idea that, in the first half, had a 1984/Soylent Green/V for Vendetta sort of appeal in its perception of a future society where something is not quite right.

Then the second half started and it turned into basically a mindless action flick, that's all. The movie couldn't hold up to its own premise. I can't say anything bad about the acting, though. Sean Bean is always good, as is Scarlett Johansson, but seriously, when is Ewan McGregor going to learn he can't do a very good American accent?

While I didn't love it, it was nowhere near as bad as they made it out to be. It had potential, and was going somewhere for awhile until the last 45 minutes, where it got sucked into the typical Michael Bay formula of explosions and shooty-bang. I thought the performances were all around solid, and the premise was very interesting. Truth be told, I honestly think it would've been excellent in the hands of a better director.

Plus, I essentially fell in love with Scarlett through this film, so for that reason alone I guess I pretty much can't hate it.

bay had nothing to do with ammityville horror

It was okay, not great but okay and some of the bits between Ewan and Scarlett are funny as their trying to assimilate to the culture.

I laughed out loud when Ewan says "He's taking a dump in a can".

I like the idea that you can be a really good person and your exact clone can be a total scumbag.

Just seen this flick, its alot better than I thought it would be from all the **** it got. What was all the critisism over it for?

It's definitely underrated; the concept of harvesting perfect humans who respond like children because they haven't been corrupted. . . not bad actually, and quite good for a Bay film.

It reminds me of when most critics gave his 'Armageddon' film, with Bruce Willis, one star; I enjoyed it regardless of what was said.

It wasnt that bad, very cheesy, but some of the lines are funnier in the american accent than if he was using his own. I thought the part when he meets his Scottish sponsor guy was great, good acting and some good funny lines.

I have to say that I havent seen a movie by Michael Bay that I didnt like, Armageddon was brilliant, The Rock as well, the Island, Bad Boys etc. He'll do good with Transformers, I just hate his design decision from a fan boy point of view.

Even so... I die inside whenever he speaks in Black Hawk Down

The Island is good fun. Not a masterpiece or anything like that but fun. I think I's liked it much more if I would not have seen all the trailers before the film 'cause they spoiled the whole thing. I'd just been like clones, no idea what the island is.

lol......I just never got to see any of it b/c of the massive amount of negative crap it's gotten.

its a good movie...
especially now that you're gonna watch it thinking its total crap

Well, I'm open minded to it.

I think I've done alot of maturing since THE ISLAND was released. So, I'll watch it. I just need to find the time.

I mean, I hear the crap people toss at Miami Vice.....and I ****ing loved that movie....

ok i hated that movie....lol

sure i dont think the island is perfect...... but its way better than Miami Vice:csad:

it was a little better than a uwe boll movie..... but thats another story

I won't say it's good or bad.
I'll just say I feel asleep during the movie, and that was the only time I ever did that :(

It's been coming on HBO a lot lately, and I tried to watch it a second time, but lost interest less than halfway through and changed it. :csad:

I've seen parts of it. Like that part when that elderly black man gave that inuenndo comment to Scarlett about how "God reaaaaalllly loves you baby...."

best line in the whole movie(i laughed):

Lincoln Six-Echo: What's "God"?

McCord: Well, you know, when you want something really bad and you close your eyes and you wish for it? God's the guy that ignores you.

lol....yeah, I saw that part.

Dude, what's that avatar from? It's creeping the **** out of me.

It's from Ghost Rider. Anyway, I love this film. Michael Bay is always good at making summer action movies.
