Okay, so here it is: SV's Jimmy Olsen isnt what I would've hoped for. In fact, he's kind of an annoying little *****e. It seems as though the writers consistently try to write him as a jealous, annoying (well, Jimmy Olsen is always kind of annoying, but SV takes it to a whole new level) prick. It's like every episode that he's in that doesnt have a hilariously bad plot, he's complaining about Clark and Chloe's friendship. That aint Jimmy Olsen. Jimmy Olsen is Superman's pal, not an a**hole. I can barely even see them as aquaintences in the future, let alone pals.

I really think that the writers screwed up by making him a regular character. Had he been a one-off character like Perry White, I wouldnt have minded. They way they have him on the show now is just lame.

He is lame, but I bet they really regretted the way they handled Perry White. That was abysmal. I bet they wish they still had that bullet in their gun.

Eh i like Jimmy lol he provides some comic relief and his characters not that bad

Jimmy is fine for me, its not like the character was ever cool or did anything of merit besides getting a few laughs from his social ineptitude.

I love Smallville's Jimmy, actually. He is really just comic relief, much like his comic counterpart. There is only one episode he has annoyed me, but some of my favorite episodes of certain seasons were very Jimmy centric...like "Noir" which was an awesome episode.

Its not that I don't enjoy his character, but the majority of his screen time has to do with Chloe, and that makes him not so fun lol... hes always being insecure about Clark, etc... I really enjoy his scenes when he is working with Lois though, or episodes like Static where hes in super-geek mode. I hate when theres always the ship drama because then hes all depressed, but then again, that can go for every character haha.

I loved Season 6 Jimmy. They had him doing investigations with Lois, attempting (and failing) to confront Lex. The puppy dog romance with Chloe. I loved it.

But ever since, he's become the single worst character on the show. The constant whining, the perpetual insecurity. And now, his relationship with Chloe may be the single biggest waste of screen time in the show's history. And this is including Adam Knight.

*shudders*

Jimmy is fine, specially when working with Lois or on his own, Aaron Ashmore does a pretty good job acting wise. But being with Chloe makes the character weaker, I guess once they separate Jimmy will have a better storyline (hopefully).

I don't really care for Jimmy either way. He's not my favorite character but I wouldn't go so far as calling him a "prick". I think we need to see more of him teaming up with Lois and Clark rather than with Chloe, IMO.

What did you expect? How would you feel if you knew that some guy could take your girl friend any time he wanted? You know if Clark was to even hint at wanting her, Chloe would dump Jimmy in a second.

Or they would drag the storyline out over the course of 20 episodes.

So who would you say was worse? Jimmy Olson Or Pete Ross?

I liked them both. They made some mis-steps with both of them, but that is the nature of television.

I liked Pete as a character alot , but then again i miss alot of the original players like Johnathan, Martha, Lionel and Lex . Jimmy is ok , it's just the whole romance with Chloe is not my taste .

Why they added that "tragic" backstory I have no idea it made no sympathy for him at all in my eyes.

That was so stupid. It added nothing to the character. They must be setting up some lame storyline.

It was strange and unnecessary. I don't dislike Jimmy in Smallville I'm just not that bothered about him either. I think he's better when his stories are more Daily Planet orientated rather than the Chloe relationship.

Well you know what it doesnt even make sense I mean he seems like he is the rich boy who made the decision his parents didnt want him to make like he should have been in his dads law firm and instead he decided to be a photographer. That would have created sympathy and added character.

I second this. Last season he was good, even great (occasionally) but this season he's made me want to get up and grab a drink whenever on screen.

He'd probably be more respected too for following his own path. Like Doubledown44 said, I wonder whether they're trying to set up a story arc with this. I hope not.

Jimmy is not a good character at this point in the show. He's basically Lana season 2 without the pink sweaters.

Insecure about Clark and always getting himself into ridiculous situations.

nah, jimmy's pretty wasted on this show until they put him into position. He's the only character on the show that is out of position as far as 'superman' is concerned.

once they get him back to 'work' on a regular basis, it should make his presence on the show make more sence.... ie. he's the third part of the Lois/Clark dynamic, at the Daily Planet atleast. I don't think we've seen Jimmy there since Clark started at the DP.

I'm sure once the 'future' scooby gang is assembled, Jimmy will fit into the story better, rather than being a constant Chloe tangent.

Awww... Jimmy does NOT suck. He's fine... but he will be more fun I'm sure when he stops being insecure.

Come on though... If your girlfriend used to love and STILL had a special relationship with Mr. tall, dark and off-the-chart handsome... who would not be a little insecure.

Understandable, but I'm ready for it to be resolved.

I know this sounds stupid and shallow, but what annoys me about Jimmy is his teeth. Seriously. He has hamster teeth. They would be so easy to fix too so I don't know why he doesn't do it already.
