Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Even if they don't do a direct sequel, I hope Reeves can convince Phoenix to do a JK Simmons and play a Joker that's not Arthur Fleck.
Joaquin’s Arthur and Joker aren’t even the same person anymore, so it’s not even really a point of contention.

I won't hate if the former two beat it, but if it can still maintain that spot this weekend after Gemini Man, Addams Family and Jexi, you know it has legs.

Gemini Man is going to bomb HARD!

I'm more than convinced this is Joker breaking the fourth wall and poking fun at Ben Affleck.

BTW tracking for Gemini Man is around $30 million at best from what I am reading. It will finish #2 or 3 and flop in the States.

Got this of BOF...pretty weird. The second review is from a web site that grades films on how PC they are...

Yeah that kinda shows how imbalanced that whole system on RT is.

It makes me wonder more what kind of vetting they're doing. Grading films on how PC they are? Wtf

I read one or two reviews from The Mary Sue a number of years back. Never again. They would rather see if a movie hits all the marks on their PC checklist instead of actually reviewing the movie like a real critic.

This should be reported! critics can issue 2 review scores?! This is F#@%ed up and I bet if this was even corrected they would use the bad score on purpose!

that kind of shows that both sides of the political spectrum are potentially doing this. grade whether it checks out on a PC checklist or grades whether it's too PC. But I can admit that maybe the left is more notrious in this area. The reality is Rotten Tomatoes is the worse. Prior to its existance nobody gave a damn what critics thought of movies. And if they did they would have just a couple of go-to critics they would listen to (like Siskel and Ebert) and be done with it. In fact, I think the general consensus was that critics kind of suck. Rotten tomatoes kind of forced the world to consider what every established critic thinks and that was never a thing until now!

Sorry Kane not trying to get the fight going again I just found it weird that RT allowed a dude to review it twice for two different publications. I also find it weird some publications do like 4 reviews. Film critics are weird :D

Well, commerce and art have always gone hand in hand.
Are our only options supposed to be dumb fun OR niche arthouse movies.

I totally respect that some people want this to stay totally stand alone and don't want Phoenix's Joker to intersect with Batman in any way.

But...remember how heartbreaking it was when Heath's Joker said, "I think you and I are destined to do this forever..." and the crushing reality set in that we'd never see him again in the role?

It feels kind of crazy to me that here we are 11 years later and now we have a new Joker portrayed by a world class actor that is getting a similar sort of Oscar hype response...and the opportunity to see him return and face off with Batman is right there. And half of us are like, "Meh no thanks". LOL, again I respect everyone's opinion and I get both sides of it, but it's undeniable that from a marketing standpoint it seems like such a great built-in hype angle for whenever Joker pops up in Reeves' universe. I'm already there in terms of viewing the entire Joker film as one of his multiple choice stories, so continuity is a non-factor.

Don't put the cart before the horse, dude. Enjoy THIS movie. And if this is Joaquin Phoenix's only turn as the Joker that's completely fine. It's still a great movie. If this is only the first one that's completely fine, as well. But let's just enjoy the movie for what it is. This has NOTHING to do with Heath Ledger, his premature premise and that line in "The Dark Knight."
