The Joker Thread - Part 1

I honestly think Curry was more silly than scary or creepy. Hear me out, since this sounds like a contradiction, but I feel like Skarsgard is a little more "believable" as a demon...thing doing an intentionally sh*tty job of trying to act human to freak people out.

Even in the original novel, it's mentioned that the chemicals associated with fear season the meat a bit. I enjoyed Chapter 1 way more than Chapter 2; I guess was just because they were kids there as opposed to adults. But I felt it was lacking something.
I read the book right before seeing the new movies and have to say I vastly prefer the first movie including its depiction of Pennywise. It Part 2 was awful.

I'd be surprised if RD decided to tackle another comic book character. It's kind of insane how much time he spent playing Stark.
It is. From first grade all the way to my last year of high school, he was Iron Man for all those years. Ten movies doesn't sound like a lot on its own, but ten years' worth? That's impressive.

In terms of A-list actors, how about Daniel Radcliffe or Elijah Wood? Too obvious or are they okay choices?
I am convinced Radcliffe is going to do another major role in his career. I can't immediately see him as Joker but it wouldn't shock me if he nailed it.

Curry's actually the one aspect of the miniseries that I would say is superior to the movie adaptations.

was he any good in Dolittle?
I didn't see it yet to be honest. I like RDJ but I keep forgetting about Doolittle lol. The last movie I liked Bruce in, was Death Wish(wish it was more balls out like part 3 but still good) and Looper(which he was great in!). Btw Thanks for reminding me of Doolittle, I have to check it out!

Poulter's another name for Joker that crops up a lot but with good reason. His performance in Detroit is criminally underrated.
Whew, that movie was hard for me to watch. Poulter would be fantastic as the Joker. I have a feeling he's gonna blow up soon

From everything I've heard about Dolittle, it seems to me you'll regret watching it.

I love both take of Pennywise! I think both actors had their own interesting/good take on the character. Both movies are in my opinion is flaw though. I agree I liked Chapter one is better, Chapter two has the better kills( Am I the only one who notice how awkward the acting was in Chapter two?). The new movies have the same flaws of the 1990 movie. The flaw is that Pennywise scare the kids, they escape and then a cheap jump scare. They should had him kill more kids(some death can be off screen) and do something else with Stan. The problem with Stan he is just there to kill himself that's about it. They should had changed things up a little and maybe killed off another character. I didn't mind that they made Richie gay, even though we kinda knew it was Eddie in the original. What I hate about remakes is the ones who does too much fan service and copy/paste of the original. Well all knew which characters were going to die and some light changes that were in the movies was kinda weak(Henry killing his friends instead of Pennywise and some good to weak kills). So far my fave Clown killer movie that came out recently is Jon Spidey Watt's Clown, All Hallow Eve and Terrifier(I can't wait for part two). Omg this lag is killing me! It took 10 mins to write this lol

Thanks for the heads up! I kinda figure it would that type of movie lol

Whoever suggested Daniel Radcliffe as Joker...it is a strange pick but one that could actually work because no one could have seen Ledger as Joker back in the day but he was cast and he nailed it. Plus Radcliffe ever since the Harry Potter series, he has come a long way since then especially if you have watched his work post Potter.

The first movie was pretty good, it felt too safe for a horror film(besides Georgie death Pennywise barely killed anyone, the scene in the basement was bill was awful. They should had used the spider-centipede Pennywise/Georgie hybrid monster!). What sold it to me was the acting and the characters. Now Chapter Two felt off to me like a parody of the first movie and the acting was very weird. I kinda knew the director was going to drop the ball. I do not like his other film Mama which felt like studio safe horror film to me. In my opinion I think Guillermo del Toro,Fede Álvarez , Matt Reeves,Kim Jee-woon or Mike Flanagan are better directors and were better choices.

Read Fukunaga’s screenplay for his unmade adaptation. As good as the first It is that script is far superior and anything but safe.

I did and I loved it(no pun intended lol)! That script that Cary wrote was brutal and Pennywise was a huge threat! He didn't hold back the punches with the kills, the script was original and I loved the transformations! I can tell Cary sure wasn't making a studio/safe horror film with that script:yay::smgs:.

I think that they'd both be too short even with camera trickery. It's a shame because they're both great actors with the right material.

Are those two enough of chameleons to pull off Joker? I think Elijah is easier to picture in the role than Radcliffe. They’d probably both be better as Mad Hatter or Scarecrow

They can do intense, for sure, but you're right that Joker isn't high on the list of Batman villains I'd see them as either. They would've both made great Penguin's in addition to Hatter or Scarecrow.

My man, if you've any affinity for so bad it's good then Doolittle is a must-see. Make sure to look into what a disaster production was as well because it's a whole epic cluster**** of overworked CG artists, reshoots, an unstable director and a racist dog.

A racist dog? That's certainly unusual.

Funny enough, Double Toasted is doing a viewing party for that movie tonight.

I love bad films I grew up on Troma and FullMoon movies. But some films are just bad for my standards. So now I might check out the film so if it makes my it's bad it's good or it's a piece of **** list lol

Guess you’ve never seen Samuel Fuller’s White Dog
That movie is a classic! I also recommend Dracula's Dog from 1977! I kid you guys not none of ya'll will regret it lol PS You can watch it for free on Youtube! And yes it was re-release in 78 with a different name lol
