Of course he will require more work on characterization, motivations, etc, in the future. He was a supporting character in SUICIDE SQUAD. They rarely have full arcs of their own. Many movies have them.

Beyond that, the lack of understanding of the character itself that your post displays...you're whining about a guy that has historically dressed in purple and as a CLOWN and gotten around in vehicles with his face on them being too flashy because he is wearing some jewelry?

As for him being concerned with material things...please read a comic pre-2010. There's a longstanding precedent for the crime lord/materialistic Joker.

It is not and has never been all he cares about, but The Joker who cared about being a successful, iconic crime lord is very, very ingrained in the mythology.

I'm not whining about anything, I'm just telling you some of the things I didn't like about the character in the movie and some of the things that I thought they OVER played and made worse about the character, in a tacky way that didn't work, for most fans. There is some truth to your response obviously, and I have no problem admitting I'm not a huge comic oficiando so I'm not gonna argue about my Comic Book knowledge, I have no problem admitting that 99% of the people on this board have probably read more comics in a year than I have in my life.

I didn't take offense your post, I was just responding with my own thoughts. I thought they deviated or stretched those things you mentioned too far, and made the character look like a generic Crime Lord that only cared about materialistic things and his girlfriend, and looked kind of ridiculous while doing it. If it worked for you, that's cool, it didn't work for me.

Totally agree. If Affleck is out there's no reason not to recast Joker too. Sacrifice a little continuity to get it right.

If they do recast Ben I think we might as well just clean house with whatever Batman stuff was established as well. Mainly Jared. I love the guy as an actor but if that means we can get a Jake Gyllenhaal Joker I would gladly offer him up as sacrifice. Jake in Okja was great and kind of shows how zany and fun his Joker could be.

Entirely different things. Where was it ever stated that Warner Bros. was unhappy with Leto's version of Joker? Where was it ever stated that Leto didn't want to play Joker anymore? So what possible reason would Warner Bros. have to recast Joker?

WB Developing Joker vs. Harley movie. LAWD. This all just seems like a mess. This is just a rumor but maybe we'll learn more tomorrow.

How is that a mess? All that shows is Warner Bros. has big plans for the DCEU.

I would like to see that movie, just not with Leto. We have a chance for a clean start. Recast!

Not going to happen. Because as far as Leto and Warner Bros. are concerned there is no reason to recast the role.

It's just yet another movie that's in development. I also don't understand why Joker v Harley can't just be rolled into GCS. Makes more sense that way.

Perhaps Harley Quinn vs Joker will be the sequel to Gotham City Sirens.

Read between the lines. If there's a Joker/Harley movie coming, there will likely be elements of their relationship and their falling out in GCS.

Yeah, but do we really need TWO Harley centric movies planned before we even get anything concrete on MoS 2 or the Flash? It just feels like wasted space in an already crowded release schedule.

Depends on which we we are talking to. Ultimately do we really need any superhero movie.

They're cheap cash in movies. Nothing more. Like Sony and their Venom solo spin off that won't even have Spider-Man in it. They're just using fan favorite villains to make a quick buck.

You do realize most movies are made to make money. Every Star Wars movie made after Star Wars was a cheap cash movie to take advantage of how popular Star Wars was.
Originally Lucas only planned to make the one movie because no one thought it would make any money. It was only afterwards that the studio saw dollar signs.

I read SR every single day, they report rumors from reddit and 4chan, and has DC click baits every week, so anyone believing their Joker vs Harley report and using it to bash WB is silly, period.

Y'know? I've always like the alternative of Ledger as Bats and Bake as Joker. They're pretty perfect as they ended up but I think Heath's style of depth and inner torment could have fitted well in Nolan's world and Bale has that violent edge displayed in American Psycho.

It seems more like an expectation than a confirmation.

The main appeal of Suicide Squad for me was the fact that Joker and Harley were in it. I'd be glad if they returned. Leto badly needs redemption.

The guy needs to just watch The Dark Knight Returns Part II and do something like that. They gave him too much freedom to craft his own take on The Joker character, he needs to go for a more traditional version now that we know how poor his personal grasp of the character is.

Sounds more like speculation or even lazy thinking on the part of the writer. They were in SS so the writer just assumed they would be in SS2.
