The Joker Thread - Part 1

Eamon Farren (Twin Peaks, The Witcher) would be great.
Damn he is almost perfect for the role! He is the right age, height and built for the role!:up::up::up::hoboj:. The biggest question is Reeve's Joker will have a Harley Quinn and if so will they recast for the role or keep Robbie??:hq:

If they're going the villain route for Harley, I'd advise against it. I've never understood the whole "psychopaths with love interests" obsession. Characters like Joker and Carnage are much more effective in their evilness by themselves.

That says to me he's not really passionate about acting anymore and is just taking big paychecks as a job.
Well he is worth the paycheck! He always brings his A game to every role he has been in. Now Bruce Willis on the hand, what the hell happen!?:(

He even looks like an evil version of Pattinson lol.
He even kinda has the same facial structure as Bill Skarsgard. And of course, he DOES look like The Joker. I guess I could get behind it

Well I can't disagree with you on that one. If they decide not to go with Harley for Reeve's Joker, I wouldn't mind at all! Idk it's a win/win situation with me on this one. If they want a Harley in this universe and still used Robbie in the role that would be cool. If they recast someone else for Harley, I'll be okay with that. I have a feeling you might be right and this Joker will be a solo act with his crimes(maybe a few henchmen). Btw I think Venom 2 will have Carnage girlfriend in it!

Logan Paul honestly isn't even that bad an actor, the people that had the guts to see his horrible Airplane Mode movie say weirdly enough his acting was the only good thing on it, he'd probably thrive in sitcoms and CW shows with the possibility of being a decent character actor if he didn't go the *****ebag youtuber route. Which granted, it seems that nowadays being a *****ebag youtuber is more profitable than being a B list actor.
Makes me wonder how many potentially decent actors are being ruined by being tik tokers and youtubers.
But anyhow... George Mackay, promising guy.

Did that Joker: 80th Anniversary comic get pushed back?

I'm rewatching Justified and is reminded of how great Walton Goggins is when he gets to play a great character (shame on you, Ant-man and the Wasp:argh:). He would kill it as Joker. Just look at that smile.

From what I've read about Logan Paul, he doesn't seem to have the discipline to be a good actor. Here's a quote from an article on him from a few years back

"Logan, in his performance, searches for something he can do to break through. Still, he seems unwilling to try the obvious things: listening to the teacher, taking notes, experimenting. Indeed, it seems he doesn't care about acting so much as he cares about being an actor in TV shows and movies".

Now maybe he's grown since then, but he kind of comes across as someone who is always looking at the finish line without having even started training for the race. He has so much confidence in himself that he takes for granted that acting is a process which takes time.

As a zoomer myself, this pretty much seems like the case to me. He just wants fame; he doesn't really seem to put very much effort into his performances at all. Now, I know, there are a lot of comedians who have been in sitcoms, but some of them, namely Jerry Seinfeld, really don't focus on the emotional aspect of acting. That being said, I'm probably looking too much into this but you probably get my point

That's why I said he'd probably be a decent character actor in sitcoms if he didn't go for the *****ebag youtuber route. Not anything exceptional, just decent enough for that low bar.

He reminds me more of Cletus Kasady tbh

What is Cletus Kasady but The Joker for Spider-Man?
Joker's more nuanced tho. Cletus/Carnage's only character trait is basically murdering people, although in recent years he's grown more ambitious trying to conjure up evil ancient gods or become a god himself. Honestly, I don't think Marvel really has an equivalent to The Joker.

God they really did just keep downgrading in the casting of Pennywise 'til they wound up with... whatever it was Skarsgard was trying.

Mendelhson would've made a phenomenal Joker in the Dark Knight Returns mold paired with an older Batman, but I'd prefer an actor closer in age to Pattinson. His hilarious sleazeball performance in Rises is also real underrated.
Skarsgard as Pennywise was legitimately not good. I have no idea why his performance got so much praise. Not impressive in the least, especially considering Curry’s terrifying and iconic performance in the original. The voice he chose was so unbelievably stupid. Shame we didn’t get Poulter in the role!

Poulter's another name for Joker that crops up a lot but with good reason. His performance in Detroit is criminally underrated.

I honestly think Curry was more silly than scary or creepy. Hear me out, since this sounds like a contradiction, but I feel like Skarsgard is a little more "believable" as a demon...thing doing an intentionally sh*tty job of trying to act human to freak people out.

Even in the original novel, it's mentioned that the chemicals associated with fear season the meat a bit. I enjoyed Chapter 1 (2017) way more than Chapter 2 (2018); I guess was just because they were kids there as opposed to adults. But I felt it was lacking something.

Perhaps nearly half the film feeling like a poorly strung-together collection of deleted scenes from Chapter One with scary CG face children had something to do with it.

I could see him in the role even if I haven't seen him in anything, but nothing about him physically says 'JOKAR' aside from the eyebrows.

In terms of A-list actors, how about Daniel Radcliffe or Elijah Wood? Too obvious or are they okay choices?
