Idris Elba needs to be Jon Stewart GL.
Here are my thoughts on the JL casting.
Because of the insane backlash against Affleck as Batman, which is ridiculous, I think that they're going to play this one safe. One thing I have noticed with these big superhero castings, is that there are always three groups: the ones the studio reveals is on their short list, the fan/internet favorite, and the one that comes completely left-field. This one is going to be the fan fav Gemma Arterton.
The one thing that people that are outraged against the casting of Ben Affleck should realize one thing, he is a huge player in Hollywood. So huge that people who may not have been interested in ever being part of a superhero movie may have a change of heart. Case in point for this could be another fan favorite, Ryan Gosling. Although I would rather have Ben McKenzie as Barry and even more so, Garrett Hedlund as Wally, Gosling is a big name, a hell of an actor and a fan/internet darling. While I never understood why people always mentioned him for Batman casting, he is damned near perfect for Barry Allen. Now, with Ben Affleck, one of Hollywood's biggest golden boys right now, the chances of Gosling joining the League is looking up. I am now on board for that.
This one is going to be real simple, if they decide to go with Hal Jordan, there is no question in my mind that Ryan Reynolds will reprise the role. However, I think WB will want to get as far away from that film and Reynolds as they can. That means that they may decide to go with John Stewart, and if they go with Stewart, Idris Elba is the guy.
If they want to tie the Flash show into the movie-verse, I think they could get Ben McKenzie, who's not doing much as of late.
interesting how co-star Adam Brody was cast as Barry Allen in JL: Mortal.
Gemma Arterton hasn't impressed me in anything I've seen her in, so I'm not sure about her. I guess I would go with Emily Blunt, since I am a fan of her as an actress and I think she's capable of playing the role. I could also see them going with an actress like Gina Carano if they want someone who's comfortable with stunt work.
I'm hopping on the "Idris Elba for Jon Stewart" bandwagon. I really think that Jon will be the Green Lantern they use in JL just to make the team more diverse. If they do that, Elba is the man for the job. Marvel had their chance at casting him as Black Panther and they missed it. The man needs to play a superhero (Heimdall doesn't count). As for the other Lanterns, they could always bring in Hal Jordan and Guy Gardener in solo GL films. I'd rather they recast Hal, even though I don't think Reynolds wants to come back anyway. But I would love to see Mark Strong as Sinestro still, especially since it's looking like he won't be playing Luthor. If Michael Gough could play Alfred in different Batman films that don't particularly follow the same canon, then I don't think it's too much of a stretch for Mark Strong to play Sinestro again, albeit in a different incarnation of Green Lantern.
I'd like to see Flash be the funny one like he was on the JL cartoon, so an actor with good comedic timing would be key. Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be great. Aaron Paul too.
I could see them reaching for Matt Damon with this one. Aquaman is treated like a joke as it is, so they would need to get an A-lister to play him just on principle.
because he's black. INGENIOUS.
I will accept no one as Martian Manhunter EXCEPT
So far, everyone has pretty much assumed that some form of the original seven are going to be in the movie. However, just like with Avengers, I think there is a chance WB might want to mix it up a bit. Green Arrow is now more popular than both Aquaman and J'onzz , and Hawkgirl or Zantanna would make a great female addition to the core five. Not to mention, there is a new "original" line-up that includes Cyborg. WB/DC could very well decide to go with the new 52 line-up.
Even if his movie wasnt a hit, I think it would be cool to have Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds in the same movie.
Its a solid cast and would be pretty well known for such an important movie.
Just add a talented and hot actress for Wonder Woman and a talented actor for Flash, and there you have it.
batman and wonder woman
I do love Gemma and can truly see her in the role, however I am really intrigued by Berenice Marlohe for Wonder Woman. She can definitely portray the multifaceted aspects of the Amazon Princess to perfection...
as Princess Diana:
as Wonder Woman:
Here's hoping she has a cameo in Man of Steel 2
I found a trailer for Godel, Incomplete which is a short film that Elizabeth Debicki is starring in. Listen to Debicki while she narrates. She's got the look AND the voice that I think would be amazing for Wonder Woman.
Watch the trailer here: https://vimeo.com/67480644
Bit of typecasting going on here, but for the voice of Darkseid- Gabriel Woolf. For some food for thought, here is him performing as "The Beast" in Doctor Who The Impossible Planet/ The Satan Pit:
Superman-Henry Cavill(there's enough pictures of him posted here)
Batman-Ben Affleck(see above)
Wonder Woman-Jaimie Alexander
Green Lantern-Depending if they're linking Arrow, if so then David Ramsey
or Idris Elba(Don't feel like posting another image along with the many others in this thread)
or since WB/DC likes dropping complete "No one saw that coming announcements",
Kyle Rayner-Tyler Hoechlin
Flash-I like some of the choices here, going by the general appearance of the actors people seem to want for him, I'll throw this guy into the ring(this is assuming Arrow's Flash isn't movie Flash, again if movie-verse=tv-verse, it would be whoever scored the lucky role):
Mike Vogel(Barbie from Under the Dome)-Barry Allen
Martian Manhunter-Harry Lennix(I'm probably one of the only people that wanted that internet rumor that General Swanwick is actually Martian Manhunter to be true haha. They could still work that in this as a plot twist if they wanted to. I mean the character's definitely a fan favorite and people do like the actor. If not, I wouldn't mind him reprising his role in other movies in a Agent Coulson-type capacity. Don't you agree guys?)
If Elba is taken,
ed norton as the flash.
Yay more sloppy seconds from Marvel!(Kidding)
We can have Hulk vs Flash videos like those Daredevil vs Batman videos circlating youtube right now. I can just see HISHE and It'sJustSomeRandomGuy's videos making fun of this.
i know you're kidding, but I'll never understand why that's a thing. I've seen more then one person bring that up before. fassbender was in jonah hex for dc/wb. I've never heard of him being called dc/wb leftovers.
Superman: Henry Cavill
Batman: Ben Affleck
Wonder Woman: Yvonne Strahovski
Green Lantern (Hal): Ryan Reynolds
The Flash (Barry): Jake Gyllenhaal
Aquaman: Karl Urban
Cyborg: Michael B Jordan
Rebecca Hall-Wonder Woman
Glenn Howerton or Jake Gyllenhaal-GL (Hal)
Eddie Redmayne or Patrick J. Adams-The Flash (Barry)
Glenn Howerton as Hal?!?! Whaaatt
Rob McElhenney as Guy
Charlie Day as Kyle
Kaitlin Olson as Katma Tui
Danny DeVito as Ganthet
Hey, someone had to think outside the box. He did auditioned for Star-Lord before Pratt was cast.
How's the idea of David Palmer
Oh and Corey Burton for a pure CG Brainiac!
He's a tad too evil for Hal. Howerton for Lex.
I want him to unleash the L.U.T.H.O.R. System on Metropolis.
I was sort of joking about Rob McElhenney as Guy Gardner, but now that I think more of it, it would probably be amazing.
