I'm not afraid of Fox letting it go dormant, I'm concerned about Marvel.
Once they've got 10 properties that are all more valuable than FF, why would they bother reviving that dead franchise?
I think Marvel would first and foremost like to add a family friendly movie to the MCU. How many families go to films together? The Incredibles is still popular. It's certainly my favorite Pixar film.
It's not that I am a typical audience- I do read comics, after all. As a kid, after getting into comics a little bit, for Christmas I got a subscription to 5 comics( I was a Marvel kid first)- The Avengers (90's Black Knight!), Captain America (around issue #400) -both of which revolved around Operation Galatic Storm-for future reference in the MCU... Spectacular Spider-Man (I liked alliteration), Daredevil and The Punisher (when he was black for half the run). Best gift I ever received. I didn't like the F4 at all, thought they were boring and wondered what's the point of all of them?
I got back into comics in my mid 20s and haven't looked back. It amazes me how life's perspective has changed how I feel about the F4 (of course after reading the books). They are fascinating. With the kids and the FF (Future Foundation) included here the F4
stretch everywhere. They travel time and space*(the easiest way to integrate them). The inter family dynamics are fascinating. Loving their flaws and attributes are like loving your own family.
I think as fanboys grow up and comics in general is a great way to show how the F4 are still relevant (
"Maybe we need a little old fashion") in today's comics in all mediums.
If they were reacquired, the F4, as mentioned before, should be on the "Harry Potter" filming schedule. Most importantly, I would pick it up as traveling space (and time) heroes who basically disappeared years ago (hence the time where Franklin and Val could already exist) before IM1. Maybe have the origin split up into among several films(from different POVs), if the shuttle launch was secret (either by the government or privately owned company) to find a weapon (like the Nullifier) the knowledge of would be unknown (unless Black Widow leaked it), show Doom's origin throughout the first two films before they reconnect. Hell they could even find the Red Skull somewhere.
What would make them stand out? The Family aspects of course, but also the First-they
could be the frontier of the MCU. I have more thoughts, but I most go pick up my stepdaughter.
