The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 5

You'd be surprised how imposing that "green wall" can be on quick, low-light, cell phone photography. That green wall is a green screen volume, which is blasted with an enormous amount of light to get it evenly lit, then loaded with tons of lights to compose a shot with the actors.

A cellphone can blur the colors under these circumstances.

Point still stands. If Thing was as orange as he should be, the orange wouldn't be diffused that much.

As it is, he's probably a grayish brown.

i think fox is a bit bluffing, and hoping that marvel buys the rights back, but they are smart and just waiting for a nice flop movie

After seeing Guardians, I am even more confident this movie is going to suck going for the "grounded" and "gritty" angle. It's sad because a FF movie done right could be every bit as good, or even better than Guardians.

That's like saying, ooooh I really want to sell my car, hopefully it will break down that way I can sell it ?????

Oooh, could you imagine what we would've gotten with Gunn at the helm of Fantastic 4? Damn. Love Marvel studios for embracing the fantastical.

nah thought of that 7 year contract, that they have to bring out one FF movie every 7 years.
in this case they are hoping that marvel doesnt want to wait another 7 years for the movie, and want to buy the rights back, because they "believe" fox making this movie

hope its understandable, if not i try to explain better haha, my englishs bad :(

edit: imagine a football(soccer) club: contract for a player (worth 20 milli) is getting to an end (2014, doesnt want to extend the contract) , can go for 0 cash to an other club (but clubs want the MONEY), if contract extends to for example 2021, other clubs need to pay that 20 milli if they want the player before contract expires

oh and with that last sentence i meant marvel is waiting for a flop movie or waiting and see what happens instead of dumb buying rights back

Oh I see, you are saying that MARVEL, is hoping for a flop so that the price will go down and they can buy it then....right?:yay:

yes this is what i meant, ofcourse this is just my opinion and can be all wrong
i would say marvel isnt hoping, they just do nothing and do their thing^^

if the rights turn back then its good, when not then its good too ?!?
im getting confused

I wonder which will go back to Disney first. Spider-Man or the Fantastic Four. Place your bets

Definitely FF, but it looks to be a lot closer now than any of us would've guessed before ASM2 came out.

The things is, I could see Spider-Man going back relatively amicably with a deal that would benefit both sides. I think there's so much bad blood between Marvel and Fox, that it's not going to be easy.

I think the most likely scenario is this film doesn't do much at the box office and then Fox sits on the rights until 2022 and the rights revert automatically with no money changing hands.

I say Disney should wait it out & Sony Pictures will go bankrupt before 2022 & Disney automatically gets back those rights without paying anything

Sadly this seems the most plausible outcome but with the surprising numbers that GOTG has made overnight, I honestly don't think Disney cares too much.

All Fox would have left come June 2015 is 7 more years of spite. Which I doubt will be tax deductible.

Less "spite" and more "witholding resources from your competition". Even though it's relatively not much now that they're being so successful, having the FF would still give Disney more characters they can use, which in turn means more superhero movies to compete with Fox's own films.

Well,I just wore my FF T-shirt for the last time until this abomination passes. No sense giving them any free pub next year......

Would Fox really allow the rights to revert in 2022? I can imagine they would try to put out yet another FFINO movie, with all of the mistakes of the Story and Trank versions, and even further away from the source material than ever before.

Spiderman no question. Sony is in serious financial trouble and I wouldn't be surprised if they sold the rights of Spidey back to Disney. I also think that Spidey will appear in a Marvel movie before F4 will.

Anyway, I just got back from watching GoG and man was it great! It's right now on pace to beat F4 box office. That's a slap in the face to Fox executives saying you can have bigger names but if you don't know what to do with them, it doesn't mean Jack. It still amazes me that these guys are going "gritty and grounded" with the F4! That is an oxymoron! These guys have no idea what they are doing!

HA HA......Many of us called it. GOTG looks to be a smash hit as of now and it has already gotten a sequel green lit. Marvel will certainly make no deals with FOX for the FF property now. With the Avengers on earth and the Guardians in space and the numerous cache of villains, Marvel has their superhero family franchise. It will be phase 4 by the time the FF rights expire. FOX could have simply made some deal when Marvel wanted Galactus. Now they are stuck with a grenade of a film.

I agree! Fox was just being greedy with Galactus and SS and wanted Marvel to buy the property back. Now they will look like idiots when F4 bombs and GoG making the money it is making.

I'll "Keep Hope Alive" that the rights to the FF character family will be returned to Marvel after the highly anticipated (Ha!) FF reboot leaves the theaters. Studio execs tend to have short tenures, and getting some small consideration now from Marvel is better than hanging onto potential value that won't be realized until after they've left their position.

It will likely be something small - Collaboration on future release dates? Promise not to release Netflix series on the weekend of FOX/Marvel releases? A XM:A post credit ad on CA 3? FOX will be able to announce an improved working relationship with Marvel and the MCU will get the First Family (I hope).

I say Disney should wait it out & tell fox to **** off. They are as of now doing just fine without The Fantastic Four. They should not have to sell their souls to get them back. Or make crappy deals like suggested above. Thankfully Disney has an all or nothing attitude

I just hope Fox has the decency to not drop this turd on us. I don't even care if Marvel makes a Fantastic Four movie any more. I just don't want Fox to besmirch the Fantastic Four any further. It this film still happens, say good bye to Fantastic Four comics.

A post credit scene or scheduling considerations are too high a price to pay for getting the First Family into the MCU? I'm afraid you are letting your rage against FOX blind you to what is truly important. If an "all or nothing attitude" keeps the FF in limbo until the 2020s, Disney execs need an attitude adjustment.

As much as I want F4 back at Marvel, GoG is proving that Disney doesn't really need them. They want them but they can get random characters and turn them into A listers. I mean, did you think you'd ever hear the day that GoG and Big Hero 6 might possibly outgross Superman? Neither did I but there's a chance it may happen.
