The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread

The FF are not a profitable franchise outside the MCU like the X-verse is. FACT.

Give the franchise decline since 2006, Im not sure we can call the recent entries in FOX's X-Men series "profitable". The studio desperately needs DOFP to reverse the drop off at the box office.

True but the FF even less profitable. At least the have a chance to turn the X-men's fortune. FF? The Wolverine didn't do that great but it did better then any FF redo could pull

People on this thread will be disappointed come 2015.

People on this thread will likely be disappointed much sooner than that. Assuming Fox is making the movie, a cast should be in place and production should be starting in a month or less. I think that will be the big disappointment - that hope for Marvel getting the rights will be lost.

Beyond that, will we be disappointed in 2015?

Disappointment implies something that doesn't meet expectations. Once Fox starts making this film, it will be difficult for the film to not meet my low expectations.:cwink:

For some reason, I have a feeling that my first disappointment is going to be the cast. Just not getting a good feeling on that one.

I think i'm with you on that. (hypothetically anyway, because i still don't think this is happening)

Something is going to be disappointing for sure. :(

"The Fantastic Four rights returning back to Marvel is the Hype's great lie, once you accept that, in your heart, you will know peace" - Me.

Yeah, I heard the same "truth" drilled into my head about DD a year ago. We all know how that turned out.

Fantastc Four will make around the same money no matter which studio flips the bill for it's production. General Audiences don't sudenly care more if it's from a different studio. The property itself and to a lesser extent big name actors is the draw.

But this time they want to create their own little MCU.

Can't really do that properly with just FF and Xmen. The two teams have a very very minor history and have rarely interacted because of the fact they've never mashed well...

Other than Onslaught there's no reason a team of 4 needs to interact with a team of 50ish characters.

The two teams have no need for each other

I'm sure FOX will change aspects of them to fit the existing universe. Fox will try anyway.

So in other words further change the teams and characters to make them hardly recognizable to the fans...

They can do that all they want. But forcing them together is the last thing either franchise needs. And WILL hurt more than help. That much is already evident by you being one of the very very very few gungho about it

This is how i feel when it comes to the idea of X-Men or Spider-Man joining the MCU, they both work better solo.

And WILL hurt more than help.

I worry that Disney will screw over GOTG by forcing Avengers into their movie.

Whenever i hear rumours Nick Fury or Iron Man being shoehorned into GOTG i die a little as i love Cosmic marvel, partly because it isn't about Earth heroes and characters.

I would like the rights back at Marvel but I don't think that will happen. For crossovers all there needs to be is a common threat e.g Galactus. But yea space explorers wouldn't have common domain with the grounded X-Men.
I have no idea how this universe could work but I will certainly give it a chance.

I've seen signs of a desire for a more expansive X-Men universe, but nothing significant regarding F4. As I've said it's almost similar to what we saw last year before DD reverted.

... the X-men have nothing to do with Galactus .. so that's not really a "common threat" they're schtict isn't "saving the world" it's protecting Mutants and dealing with Mutant rights... they arn't super-heroes in the common sense of the phrase.

The X-Men would want to fight Galactus as:
No.1 It could end the world
No.2 defeating him could improve the way society looks at mutants

From Captain America onwards the MCU films feel more family friendly.

I disagree.

GOTG is made by Marvel which is owned and controlled by Disney.

Big deal. They're the parent company but it doesn't mean they get involved in the actual filmmaking process. It's been stated many times by many different people that Disney leaves its subsidiaries to their own devices.
