Ok folks, how do you think Kraven should be portrayed on film for the 21st Century?

I am making the assumption that he cannot just be copied and pasted from the comics (not even the (over-rated) Kraven's Last Hunt).

I have my ideas, but I'll weigh in with them later after I read a few suggestions.

(If we can, can we avoid too much suggestion of plots, e.g. hunting the Lizard- Kraven should be able to interact with ANY eventual SM4 plot suggestion).

We have been discussing this for months if not longer. Kraven best opportunity will be with Lizard. There is nothing else to do with him.

i think kraven should come into the picture a little after connors turns into the lizard and he tries to kill both spiderman, lizard and the black cat( if shes in it) since they all resemble some kind of animal/insect/ reptilian.
and i want him to be played by Dominic West

Bringing Kraven in for anything other than Lizard IMO is a mistake. Him coming to New York for the sole purpose of hunting Spiderman is out in left field. Lizard should be used as a source of conflict between Spiderman and Kraven that would ultimately make Kraven turn his attention and vendetta on Spiderman. Coming from over seas to bag Spiderman and show the world needs to stay in the pages of a comic book. That should be the biggest and only source of conflict between these two.And that is Lizard. If they miss the boat on this then don't ever bother doing him.

Understood.....and I can not think of a better way to use him in terms of a high budget movie but what other way can you think of that could be done. I would really like to hear what idea you have. Because I have thought about it and I can't think of any other use for him other than that. It would certainly need to start out as more than just a guy hunting Spiderman for kicks or money.

I think kraven should start off as a technological hunter that has lost his roots and goes on this self finding journey back to nature and natural methods in order to deal with his obsession of the ever alluding spiderman.

He should be portrayed as the ultimate old skool prep time master and show traditional ways of capturing the spider are far more useful than technological ways.

His journey shall take him over as he realises that the chase is far greater and more rewarding than the hollow end.

or something along those lines...

kraven's got depth, they should use him. and definitely have him with a lizard tie in as well.

I think Kraven should be a primal hunter who has spent most of his life hunting in the jungle be retaining "civilization" in himself after his power from the Soviet Union fell from his parents (updating it a bit). He should be Russian and intending to hunt Lizard purefly for the sport of the biggest possible hunt. Then after Spider-Man thawrts him and humiliates him. He must destroy the Spider to prove he is better then kill the Lizard with Spidey to watch.

So another good choice, IMO is t he up and coming Gerard Butler. I liked the idea before 300 as he has shown a versatility from roles like Phantom of the Opera to Dear Frankie. 300 just showed fanboys he can play a bad ass. I likke the idea of him as Kraven and he is not high enough up in his stardom yet to say no.

Definitely want to see The Lizard and Kraven for SM4...it just seems like a natural fit. (Although Kraven DID team-up/battle with The Vulture once, way back in ASM # 49)...

I think Gerard Butler (300) would be perfect as Kraven.

Any film with kraven should have at least cameos from scorpion, the rhino and the vulture.

perhaps have him be jameson's answer to the wallcrawler instead of the scorpion since no one seems to be able to see the potential in a scorpion film (even though there are elements of it in the last two sequels).

Hold on folks, I never said that Kraven shouldn't be done with the Lizard. That is the most obvious way to incorporate him.

What I asked was, how would you portray him in the 21st Century (and pretend you CANNOT use the Lizard, put your thinking caps on!)

(No more Lizard talk please. And if suggesting cast, elaborate on why).

I've never thought Kraven was all that cool really. And I can't really think of a way they could portray him in a movie that would make me think otherwise. So, personally, I don't really care if we ever see him or not...
