I know this is subjective...but the last few outings have been pretty poor in my opinion.
Honestly, the last Marvel film I felt really good about was Spider-man 2, which I would credit as one of the best. Since, we have had Elektra, Man-thing, FF, X3, and the first Ultimate Avengers...all of which I have a particularly low opinion. We have 3 other animated films coming up (Ultimate Avengers looks worse than the first from what I have have seen), and Ghost Rider (which I have cautious hope for) coming up. The only thing that I feel has a shot at being great is Spider-man 3 and the more I hear about it, the more my confidence feels shaken. I'm feeling like Marvel is really faltering. I hope this independant studio deal goes well. DC has come out swinging. I feel like Supes Returns is going to be a powerful flick. I just wish Marvel wouldn't be so rushed to pump these things off and put some quality into them.

It seems like you don't understand how these movies are made. Marvel isn't rushing anything. Fox rushed X3 and F4. Once Marvel sells the rights to their characters, there's not much they can do about the product that's released. Generally the studios allow Avi to have some input, but things like budget, and schedule are none of his business.

With Iron Man, we'll get our first glimpse of what Marvel's future will look like. If rumors are true, it will begin filming 12-18 months before the theatrical release. We don't yet know what kind of budget it will be given, but at least we know it will be given enough time. Marvel does have an obligation to their shareholders to be as profitable as possible, so don't expect any $300 million budgets, but with all the experience Avi has being around succesful and unsuccesful superhero films, I'm confident he has a general idea of where it's important to spend money, and where you can cut corners. It's already been made clear that they will not pay $15 million for a famous actor like Tom Cruise, when they can pay $5 million for a very talented, but less famous actor who can still do a great job.

I really liked X3. Between that and when Spider-Man 2 came out though, they were on a very dissapointing downhill trend of mediocracy. Ghost Rider looks pretty crappy as well, so I'm guessing that the next "great" Marvel film after X3 will be Spider-Man 3.

I patricularly hated Spiderman. This stupid romance is terrible plus Spidey is whines more than he quips. Doc Ock not being a mad scientist but being taken over by AI was silly too.

X3 I enjoyed, but it was pretty inferior to the first two. Ghost Rider looks crappy but I still want to see it. Supernatural stuff like that is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I think Iron Man will be gret. So far Faveru seems to have a handle on things and really knows what he is talking about. I think they still have potential properties, namely Deadpool and Nick Fury to make interesting films. I think the big problem is that the porperties being used really fall within generic superhero stuff, spedcifically colorful tights and obvious good and bad people. They need to shake it up while staying more loyal to the source material.

X3 was awesome, and Spidey 3 looks promising. I really liked what I saw with the Ghost Rider trailer and I have nothing but good feelings about Iron Man, so things look good for Marvel right now.

Sure the last few haven't been that good (Sans Spidey 2 and X3), but I have no doubt they will continue to make great movies. With all the slated movies how can a few not turn out to be gold?

The last great marvel film was Spider-man 2. The last good marvel film was Fantastic Four. I realize it had problems, but it was faithful to the characters, save Doom, and it was enjoyable.

X3 was just crap thrown together on film with a few moments to make the fanboys **** their pants. But it was pure crap.

X3. But the answer the thread maker is probably looking for is Spider-man 2.

Yeah I have to agree that Marvel seems to be slacking in the movie department. I really liked the XMen movies, althought I havn't seen X3 yet. I didn't care for the Spider Man movies and from what hear about the 3rd one (Topher Grace as Venom, give me a break) I don't really expect much. And don't get me started on some of the past marvel attempts. Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic 4, The Hulk, and The Punisher all terrible. I think DC is starting to make a come back. With Batman Begins doing well and of course a sequel to that coming. You also got Superman Returns which looks pretty bad assed. I also really liked V for Vendetta. I think as long as you got Directors and movie companys who are just trying to slap a popular name on something just to give it some buzz, you are always going to have bad movies. And it just so happens that Marvel the more popular of the two is feeling that for now.

I actually liked Hulk, Daredevil (Director's Cut), and yes, even Fantastic Four (which I would say was the last good Marvel film). But I do recognize that they are a step below both Spider-Man movies and the first two X-Men movies. Elektra and The Punisher were bad, and X3 was cinematic diarrhea.

I think one thing Marvel should do (which I guess they are doing since future Marvel films are being done in-house) is stop working with Fox! They rush the creative process and keep insisting on cutting up movies because they think it's a mortal sin for a movie to be longer than an hour and a half (I know that's an exaggeration but not by much). This is despite the fact that Fox made one of the most critically acclaimed and successful Marvel movies, X2, and it was over 2 hours long.

And I also think that Marvel is beginning to spread themselves a little thin. I know that every character has its fans, but is the world really crying out for an Ant-Man movie? I mean, concentrate on making good films, not trying to get your whole freakin' universe on celluloid. Quality over quantity!

X3 ruled and Ghost Rider is going to be awesome!

Lets try to forget about Elektra, FF, and Blade Trinity.

X3 was great and i enjoyed Fan4 too, granted it had its problems but i still thought it was a decent picture.

Only poor marvel films in my opinion were elektra and blade3.

I think Hulk would have been better if it had a couple stops in the editing room. Really Hulk has the exact opposite problem of X3, well really the same problem but from opposite ends. Hulk was too slow and dragged. Alot of unessesary exposition, that could have been done in other ways. It's well over an hour into the film before we even see the Hulk.

X3 was just a bunch of scenes slopped together. The transitions into the subsequent scenes was just sloppy.

i agree with ya tony on 90%, I think FF is underrated i loved it but as my gf says "you couldnt have not liked the movie"

The last good Marvel film? Hmmm well good I would say the Hulk. Entertaining, Spider-Man 2 & X2. haven't seen X3 yet.

I agree with you completely. Overall, I did like Hulk and overall, X3 wasn't a complete waste, but they basically had problems at either end of the spectrum.
The two best Marvel films in my opinon were X2 and Spider-man 2 because they struck the right balance.

They were good movies, you monster!!

I enjoyed the Fantastic Four, honestly. That was the last theatrical Marvel film I enjoyed. Honestly, the only ones I haven't liked are Daredevil and X-Men 3. I refused to see Elektra.

i saw x3 4 times its amasing, yes it is flawed in that it is lacking some additional seens, but look what it has going for it, all of the returing cast, new x men beast (class) angel (could have do with more screen time), juggarnaute (good, but a bit silly, and no referance as pro x's step brother), along with additional side characters kitty, collosus, calisto, Qilly, mulitple man, phylock, arclight. and yes this means there is going to be less character development but, it has two big story arcs to show have all these characters feel, the dark phonix saga (different but not faital!) and the cure (a talking point for all sides.
the phonix saga has jean return as the corrupt phonix, the fx are truley amasing, especially when she kills pro x. this story also represents pro x in a different light, as he stoped her powers expanding, which contradicts his views of acceping everyone for who and what they are good or bad. his death also shows magnito in a new light, and it leaves the x men at a loss, but also shows there triumph over there biggest loss by following threw with what pro x wanted, in stoping jean and protecting mutana and human kind. i have to admit scotts death is a bit abbrupt, but in the movie world wolverine is the hero, and his love for jean is so powerful he kills her to save her.
the cure is another big topic which is also the reason why somany mutants are in this film. in the seen when mistique becomes human the look of shame on her face feally conveys how she is feeling, and it shows why magnoto is fighting this cure. but the look on beasts face when leech cures his arm is one of happiness, which gives an opposing view, this can be seen in rouges story. the cure moreso gives a voice the storm showing her as a leader, and to angle in that he wont conform to his fathers wishes.
in all the film is too fast and dosent have a much character development as the previous xmen films, but that dosent make it a bad film. the action is amasing, some of the best in all comic book films ever, and the story it is telling is also one of the best, even if it could of done with some additional padding.

but this film should not be condemed it is amasing, putting it in with some of the crap like f4, hulk, and the punisher, at least this film is aimed at all ages, it is not a kids film (f4, spiderman, hulk) and its not trying to be grow up (deardevel, blad, punisher) this film appeals to all, and even with some bad elements this film goes deaper then most making people care what happen to the characters, and abouve all it has more of a global feel to it when helps the film to relath to all races and genders.

Good call, it's the biggest piece of crap since Marvel has launched movies with Blade. And close to the worst ever. I liked Howard the Duck more.

I have lost all faith in humanity. :P
I'm all for opinions on many odd and even bad movies...but thats one hell of a tri-combo of crapness! Blade Trinity was one of the very first movies that I could not ever bare to finish watching due to how bad it was...and well, elektra...i'll just say i'm so glad I had a girlfriend at the time to kill the 2 hours with.

Though, if you want to get technical, Man-Thing was far worse then F4. :)
