If you click on over to BDTV or Apple.com (to watch in HD) you can watch the first trailer for Universal Pictures' The Last House on the Left, the highly anticipated remake to the classic Wes Craven film that kicked off his career. In addition, beyond the break you'll find three new stills! In the film directed by Dennis Iliadis, John and Emma Collingwood are on vacation at their lakeshore house when, by a bizarre twist of fate, they give shelter to the sociopaths who have just assaulted and nearly killed their daughter. Upon discovering the truth, they exact a chilling revenge on her attackers... Watch this spot for the forthcoming official website. No date has been announced yet, although a "spring" release is promised. What did you guys think of the trailer?

I've seen and own the original, should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Hurm..Could be good:)I am hopeing it is because this film is a classic

Well, it say's it's going to be rated R. So that's a good thing right away.

hmm. could be good. i'd like it to be good. but i've been fooled before. if the history of horror remakes are any indication, then the movie will blow.

I just watched this trailer probably 5 mins before this thread was started

I had no idea they were making a remake of this film.

It looked ok. They obviously changed several elements, including the fate of the daughter.

I don't know about this one. The original was incredibly violent for it's time and made you wonder what a parent would really do if they knew their children's killers were in there house.

This one seems to be taking things a little too much in the torture aspect. The original was more about the parents tricking the killers and just killing them out of passion and revenge, not torturing them or killing them in demented ways.

Although I do have to say that shot of the head in what looked like a microwave was interesting

I'm going to withhold judgement on this one. They already took a step in the right direction by making it R rated.

I've seen the original and it was extremely violent for it's time. Pretty much small stuff in the face of the films we've had in the last few years. I hope they don't turn it into a torture porn fest even though that's pretty much what the original on was. But it was also parents seeking revenge for what was done to their daughter.

We shall see. It could be good.

You know, I totally see what you're saying. The original was very 'outside' the norm for that time.

However, Wes is completely on board with this remake. Yeah, the parents in this film seem to get a bit out of hand when it comes to these maniacs, but would you rather just see them do simple stuff again like the original? I mean, the dad in the OG when a bit crazy too with what he was doing and the mother...well that was a bit twisted also. So I see no problem with the torture aspect of the parents taking revenge in this one. In modern day, somewhat over-angered parents could easily become psychos themselves.

My real issue, is HOW FAR will the maniacs in this film go when it comes to the daughter/friend plot. In the OG, that ***** went pretty far. I'd hate to think they'd tone it down for the remake...with everything else that's come out over the past few years when it comes to realistic terror.

Well as you said, I dont want them to do the same stuff over again as they did in the original. If you're going to remake something you might as well change some things. I just don't want to see the parents doing too many nasty things, although what the mom did in the original was messed up.

I don't think you'll see the killers go any further than what they did in the first film. It was about as bad as you can get.

^That was truly a messed up scene. All those scenes were.

I wonder since we are getting the Last House remake and a Nightmare on Elm Street remake as well, if we'll get another Craven remake....

SWAMP THING

Tony Goldwyn is a fantastic and underrated actor. He's perfect for the role of the Dad. Should be a solid horror remake.

That's was a pretty good trailer, I'll give you that. If this one is even half as brutal as the original, then

Swamp Thing would be great. All the superhero movies coming out, Swamp Thing would be a great new addition to those. REBOOT!!!

The original was pretty good, F'd up, but pretty good, this one looks good, Glad to see Craven producing it. ONly thing don't like is that the trailer basically showed the whole movie.

That would have been my other issue. The Trailer indeed did show you way way too much. But then again, to me, that could be a good thing. People who see the trailer and are unfamiler with the film can see all that stuff and could grab their attention. Sometimes you see trailers that show you nothing and tell you nothing about the film and just expect you to go see it. This one however, gives you a taste of what to expect and says "LOOK AT THIS, LOOK AT THIS, OH WE DIDN'T SHOW YOU THAT BUT LOOK HERE..AND HERE" and that's an interesting move to take for a trailer. But still, it doesn't give you the whole picture of what's going on but sets you up to know what to expect.

Woah! That trailer actually looks pretty good, I'm not going to lie.

Looks ok....liked the Sweet Child of Mine cover

I heard talks of both A People Under The Stairs and Shocker Remake.

I think the Shocker one could be good now with all the technogy we have now.

Shocker could be reimagined with todays internet/cell phone/i-pod world. Could be interesting.

I too like that cover, better than that Crow girls' cover. At first I just heard that little riff being played and thought 'what the hell is that song?' until the singing started and I thought 'YES'

Yeah, it uses anything basically with electricity. Your looking at the internet, then all of a sudden a guy pops out the screen at you.

Looked pretty cool, i enjoyed the original, i liked the microwave part in the trailer
:o

Now this could be a winner! it might be as good as the recent remakes to "Dawn of the dead", "Hills Have Eyes" or "The Ring". Although "Halloween" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" were decent, now "Psycho" with "The Fog", "One Missed Call" etc. blew.
